I'll be surprised if they come up with a decent conclusion to this mess lol. I'm leaning towards it being another WEP.

I am surprised no one has really mentioned the connection of the principal to the movie Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. In the movie, Peter Sellers plays a former nazi who is an expert on nuclear warheads. The movie is about a false attack from the Soviets leading to a US Air Force General ordering a nuclear strike on the USSR. The movie is a giant paradox about probability.

With a roll of dice, both powers could destroy each other and cause the end of the world. Just as the anime with a roll of dice they could return to their original world. Now does this imply the principal implies Dr. Stranglove, who, with a press of a button, could destroy the world? Does this make Dr. Strangelove the world of the governing world because of his ability to destroy it? Is the principal also the 'god' of the world they inhibit a copy of Dr. Strangelove? I believe that this connection is on purpose and could tell us how the series will end. This episode felt like the last episode of the series and, I had to check to make sure there were still more planned.

The principal's appearance is mainly meant to tell us that the characters do not control the world. Nagara cannot create worlds but can witness them. The characters see themselves in the graduation segment which, was an amazing scene. They find out that they lost a metaphorical coin toss and are the ones who lost. We are following the losers of this coin toss as they are bound to this world. This implies that they are useless and can never be their selves in the old world. They are forever stuck to this world and can never leave. However, they still might have a chance.

There is so much to unpack in this episode that it is really hard to grasp most of the ideas in it. Like how there could be a connection to the warheads in Dr. Strangelove. In the movie, there are two warheads shown. One says "Hi there!" and the other says "Dear John" both are references to American Civil War songs. Specifically, the "Dear John" song is known as Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye. This song is about a man who abandons his child to go to war. The song continues further and talks about how he comes back permanently damaged by war. He is welcomed back but only with pity. In the movie, there is a famous scene where the pilot flies to his death on a bomb. The bomb he was on was the "Hi There!" bomb. This episode, however, was hit with the "Dear John" bomb. We see all of the characters figure out everything is useless and they are worthless. They are only offered with pity as they are just copies of their true selves. They know they are copies, they are faced with the idea that they can't return, and all their efforts were pointless.

I might be thinking too much into this but, to shorten up the characters are powerless. They are just copies and a part of a choice of the principal. They had an illusion of the end light at a tunnel. Yet, when they faced this light with Nozomi's powers, it was false. She is dead in the real world and, the characters find out they are copies. And just as the ending of Dr. Strangelove using the song "We'll meet again" over a montage of bombs destroying the planet, they might have to say goodbye to their world. I could be wrong about all of this but, I hope my rambling cleared up something even if I don't fully understand the show. I look forward to the next episode I hope it's as great as this one.

I don't think too many people caught it, but as soon as I saw him I was like "oh shit these people are Kubrick fans we will never understand this". ;P

he even has the fake hand

Can't really say I know what's actually going on anymore now. I know for sure though that changing the past does not yield good results and that's about all I understood xD.

It's funny how the teacher seemed to be wearing a school uniform underneath? No idea if it's my eyes playing tricks or not though, but it matches with what TsudaKen-san's character dropped. Was this supposed to be foreshadowing hence?

Just for everyone who missed it, it really was a blink and you miss it reveal, right after the dog said "only students come hear" the wind blew and they flashed to the sensei's skirt which blew up to reveal a student uniform skirt underneath, meaning , like the dog said, she is really a student pretending to be a teacher

Now the show came the turn and looking back the sub titles, they might have been derived from films / novels. (or just simply it may be my fancy.)
ep.1: The Farthest Shore
ep.2: Aliens
ep.3: Puss in Boots
ep.4: Ed (Japanese title: Monkey League)
ep.5: The Flying Classroom
ep.6: The Long Goodbye

Odd Taxi is an incredibly simple story that stops introducing characters and concepts pretty early in its run and just brings itself to a conclusion over the rest of its episodes. It's good, but completely different in its intentions.

The gamble the characters talk about losing is that copying themselves into the graduation reel created a copy, and they didn't have the luck of being that copy's consciousness. There was always going to be a loser for each copied student, except for Nozomi who doesn't even get a winning version because she's dead irl.

There are many similarities with Neon Genesis Evangelion in its themes, but also many unexplained new objects and elements in scene, created and appeared all of sudden just to trig new happenings and ways to escape... yeah, they're in another world (among multiple these worlds that they transit) in which happen and exist many things, but these facts, among with rules and limits as excuses, appeared in an incoherent way as a real excuse to make the narrative goes on and continues to catch the attention from its public.
I don't know if metaphors and its unusual language in animation are just used as tool for it, some kind of "hermetic show" facet, or they really condensing into something. Let's see.

p.s.: They may be silly, but my real questions for this ep are: why Nozomi dies in the 'real world'? What's the meaning of her 'death' for this narrative, if there's any? Other fact is that she entered the school in the same day they supposed transferred to black space inside of the building.... is it just a coincidence? the remaking of the scene, which Nozomi sees Nagara for the first time through curtain opening in school, was really strange...

This episode in my opinion was the best so far. Simply spectacular, confusing, but definitely one of the most * Boooom episodes !! * in my mind. The teacher who was actually an undercover student. I always knew there was something wrong with that character. Nozomi who is in the state of Schrodingers cat, alive and dead. This was definitely one of the things I liked the most about this episode, it made an impact. The ending with the nagara going home and the asakaze bumping into him while playing the ending theme song...

Sonny boy looks spectacular, and thinking he's only halfway through still opens up a lot of possibilities.

This episode talks a lot about quantum mechanics, about the future that cannot be changed. OHHHHH! This anime is driving me crazy.

Sonny Boy keeps being really stylish, and really mindfuck kind of show, and the finale of the episode was pretty great and makes me wonder- what's next? Is there really no way out of drifting for them all, or they will find one someway? Intrigue (along with some other elements) is what keeps me being interested in this show.

Also, I think that Nozomi killed herself in the real world. Or well, her copy did.

We all saw Nozomi meeting the copy of her future and the end she would have met if they didn't go adrift

Now that Nozomi has that in the back of her mind, will she even want to go back to the original timeline?

This episode was confusing in a whole different level than all the other previous episodes.

I don't even know what to say cuz I barely understood anything. The God thing made it all weird.

But if only students can go adrift then what's with that sensei. Her existence just got more suspicious.

Looks like something's troubling Asakaze, it's not like him the way he's letting himself get used by the Sensei. The Sensei is definitely using him and that faction of students for selfish reasons. I wonder what's her motive. And the star guy is suspicious in another way same with that principal. Now that I think about it, it's just like Among Us with 3 impostors XD

It seems like they're stuck in a parallel world which was created by the principal kinda like in the Wonder Egg Priority. The sensei could be playing the role of Hyphen or Dot in this world. I wonder if there are any missions they have to complete to get out of this world.

So the sensei might not be a teacher but a kind of alternate student? The fact that they can "edit" the world with a real video edit software is incredible, but also that alternate real world at the end was such a weird experience, especially how Nozomi is dead in this one, it's still so mysterious, I love it.

Oh my so they were all copies the whole time. Well their film editing(or a world editing) software plan has failed. And it was this God/their princpal who "drifted them'. But why?

And the original Nozomi's dead and for some reason Hoshi was speaking with God's voice. He was also already aware that his class wa gonna get drifted. I loved the graduation scene, it felt so surreal.
This was best episode so far, the series has taken a whole new turn.

Nice to have doggo-senpai (although he's a classmate) joining. This episode hitting a new level with me being amazed yet also confused. So if I get it correctly, this basically involves multiple timelines where they tried to become the originals but failed by staying the copies, I wonder what kind of acid the writer is on because I need some too.

A student of the future because yes, things are happening because a god wants them to.
This anime is stupid. It's one episode worse than the other and it tries to be confusing, but in the end it's just a vague anime that isn't trying to say anything. It's a pseudo-philosophical anime that tries to be a lot but in the end is nothing.

Man that was so sad to see them work towards going back but finding that in reality they never left and are actually offshoots of their own selves (i think at least, it's of course hard to tell what's really happening), the show so far has been engaging but lacking a bit of emotional punch for me but this episode really delivered on that, Nozomi seeing flowers at her desk almost had me in tears the unique idea of finding out that you went through with your own death like that was such a good but heartbreaking angle to go with.

Okay, I'm now halfway through the show and of course can't say that I understand its storytelling even for 50%. The focus on super powers is now on the back side of the plot and one of the most powerful characters in the face of God Head Teacher appeared to ruin an otherwise solid attempt of the pupils to sneak into their original world.

It seems to be that every character has its own rol and purpose in those distorted worlds they're walking through however, not all of them really want to go home. Nozomi just takes it all from her youth and fights with fears; Nagara is experiencing a deep personal crisis and doesn't understand what his nature really wants; Rajdhani is more involved into gadgets, mysteries and theories; Hoshi is blinded by the outside voice and is poisoned by the idea of salvation; Mizuho generally keeps herself aloof and overreacts to injustices; Asakaze still doesn't find a place for himself and is easily fascinated by sweet speeches about his own exclusivity, etc etc.

The rift among the disciples is getting wider and commander Aki determined to destruction rather than creation. The idea of Nozomi and Nagara union to be the key in finding the exit is still in place but on the other hand this whole drift might be senseless just as Yamabiko, the ancient dog, said (I find his presence the most intriguing at the moment). The new worlds package is limitless, so all is here to do for the viewer is to observe and reflect, it's like having Uroboros as a home pet and being ringed by his essence.

It feels like finally in this episode that where this show is heading towards becomes a bit more clear. It also concludes the arc of them finding a way going back.
The plot and premises so far has been interesting. At some point I have stopped trying to understand every symbolism or philosophical questions that they are trying to raise, or to see if this show makes sense. It feels like those things are not well-posed or clearly constructed (for an example of a show that does well at these aspects, I would recommend Haibane Renmei, or Sakurada Reset which has a very similar backgroun setting as Sonny Boy) as some other shows with similar elements. Or it might just be the case that the answers are in the later episodes, but as this episode seems readily like a temporary conclusion, I wonder if this is going to happen.
For this show, I feel like the only thing I can do is to simply perceive what is shown to us and try to take it as a pure aesthetical experience but little can be said when everything is so vague and implicit. If the aim of the show is solely to provide such creative experience then I think it's perfectly fine.
Sunset Rollercoaster did a great job on the inserting song. It's cool hearing a band from Taiwan performing a song in this show, and the style of their songs fits unexpectedly well with the tone of this show and the segment of the show where the song is featured.

So this one is about the cyclical course of life? Kids come and go to school all with their problems, some die, others graduate and a few might even become teacher or work with next generations of kids that will go through most of the same thing (having friends, not having friends, study for exams, skipping class, getting depressed, daydream, have problems at home...)

I liked that they followed the demagogy episode with some militar mentality going on with the guys that were following the teacher.
