Fuck, I can't believe the detective is already dead. Also can't believe this is the same studio that made Uzaki and Full Dive which looked very average visually. The animation in the plane was fucking insane. Kimi and Siesta being middle schoolers was shocking though lmao, Kimi looked like he was working an office job already.

Didn't expect we'd get some sci-fi elements in here but I like it. I wonder what Kimi is doing now, after Siesta died. Well explains why her name is Siesta, which means a short nap. Hopefully that also means Siesta will come back and she's just temporarily dead or something. Cause I really liked her. Overall a really good start, didn't expect it to be a double length premiere like Remake our Life, but I welcome it. Really looking forward to the next episode.

PERSONAL OPINION from someone your average anime enjoyer. Been a while since i've written anything. i feel its a so so anime for me.

what i liked:
- visual, action, no problem from me
- plot : episode 1, cant judge plot ... but from the setting they provided in episode 1, they're ok. pretty clear direction, you can imagine where'd it go/ how future episode will turn out

what i dont like
- character: the male kimi had so much monologue emphasizing that he's unfortunate to get dragged into a lot of things and he doesnt like it yet he kinda obediently followed the siesta (i expected more resistance), kinda noticed that sometime he said, why did i say it, maybe girl had some charisma shit or something, or maybe im just reading this too deep and its just part of the comedy. Near the end, kimi reasoning on refusing was because siesta probably cant offer up anything good, which i'd think is less suitable according to his character. a more probable yet simple thought is just, he doesnt want to get involved into further mess because everything about siesta is just screaming danger.... Siesta is pretty avg for me, no comment
- Have detective in its title, mystery tagged, but lacking a good reasoning behind her deduction. everything is just solved by saying, oh i know everything alr b4hand. could have thrown those usual bullshit like, from the way you look, move, etc, it seems you're afraid or something then come to the conclusion that you're a traitor and shit like that. then again mystery is probably not the main focus of this series
- the term android is kinda unsuitable. when you think of android, you'd think more of mechanical shit, like nier, vivy, you dont expect them to grow out some tentacle shit out of their ear..... it could have been called bio implant, or things like that to make it more suitable. but this is more of a concept problem so the author might have a different idea thats why they're called the android
- i dont like the comedy. comedy is always hit/miss, just like how i hated cygames comedy all the time

Checked out first episode because it’s title and synopsis has a nice hook, impressed they made a very well written character in siesta and by. Her being killed or written off her impression will leave a good weight on the main character and I imagine the writers can make a very interesting narrative with this premise. The guy was in middle school which is dumb anime logic but it seems three years passed after that proposal so he is now in highschool which is at least a little more bearable. I’m interested to see the next episode just to see how MC will react moving forward . The romance elements were cute and comedy was alright, mystery with that ‘title drop’ was cool so pretty okay hook, a solid 7/10

I expect more mystery to be honest since it's an almost 1 hour episode. Art and animation is gorgeous as always thanks to Kadokawa and their Professional animators. However, a little bit of detective cliche can be seen such as when Siesta Explain that she know from the beginning that the culprit gonna do this and that. i think I am gonna lower my expectation a little bit on the mystery in order to enjoy this as an another popular series from Kadokawa.

Edit: oh yeah, almost forgot, 3/5 for the first episode

Not sure what I was expecting but that surely wasn't high . Heck I wouldn't have even cared for this anime if not for the Tobichii Origami vs Siesta meme . I was just a bit curious cause the visuals looked good . But after watching the episode I admit this turned out well . Now I am ready for the series and hope it will be a good one .

I found this one-hour premiere spectacular, good animation, the theme of the story is interesting and the way they introduce the characters was different, but that's what made it better than I expected. But what really caught my attention was the end of the episode (even with the title itself already warning you)

Well, I have no idea what was happened and what's SPES yet but this is pretty intriguing. This double-length episode felt short, I really enjoyed it.

It's just still the first episode but the visual is absolutely stunning especially in the airplane fight. This type of animation is my favorite, and it's really joy to watch it.

The mystery is subpar, I hate the 'I could guess from the start' asspull detective shows. There's nothing intelligent about this type of series.

The characters are also mid, their interactions are stale and awkward. The animation and artstyle are breathtaking though.

The mystery part is really lacking tbh, that hijacking scene didn't leave much clues for the audience to figure out the motive so Siesta's explanation felt like an asspull especially that "I already knew everything" part, big red flag. Hopefully the show will do more showing rather than telling in the next eps.

Also, what's with the extreme change of mood in the second half of the ep? We went from a hijacking scene to light hearted scenes with Siesta. Makes me think this first episode was supposed to be 2 eps.

Another thing, why is Siesta letting her investigation fall in the hands of chance? According to Kimi, he deduced that Siesta wants to make him her assistant to lure out SPES due to his misfortunate accidents with the organization as seen in the last 2 cases. After all according to him again, the detective doesn't need an assistant, rather she needs a troublemaker. I mean if she really was that great of a detective, why not find and use actual people, leads, and evidence that incriminates SPES instead of relying it on someone's unlucky encounters with the group? Guess you gotta pull some BS explanation to justify having a self insert boring MC to be the assistant of a cute waifu detective heroine.

Oh by the way, the MC's design doesn't fit with his age. 14 and yet he's lookin like the guy from Higehiro. Oh well this is anime anyways so I guess I can overlook that. I hope his VA gets better with each ep. More of Kimi's backstory would also be appreciated.

We'll have to see how the plot goes, that title was a dead giveaway to the twist of the first ep though I'm sure she'll be back one way or another after the anime introduced some high tech and supernatural elements. The anime didn't spend all this time having Siesta in the front covers and with Kimi only to have her die in the first ep.

The animation looks really good though especially that fight.

So double length first Ep. - Presumably this is going to be episodic with a case per episode - bit like InSpectre?

Siesta 100% waifu-bait pity she's already dead - I suspect a "Clone" of her will pop up later for the dead - not-dead switcharoo.

Also are they messing around with the timelines - he looks too old to be still at school.

LOL's at pulling that BFG out of that small case...

Not gonna lie this was kind of an okay-ish sort of episode. First of all, the animation looks jarring some times (like when Siesta is running on the plane seats). Second of all, I didn't know how old the MC was until he said he was a junior high schooler so that's a little confusing for me.

Might watch until episode 3 or 6 but for now, nothing too spectacular.

Siesta does look very cute I have to say.

Siesta's first deductions on the plane were really pretentious and made my brows furiously knit (coming from someone who read Sherlock). Wouldn't really call how she set it all up an asspull, though. Basically she knew and set-up everything from the start and was trying to be cool (didn't really appear cool to me, though). That said, first half was more action rather than mystery, to be honest. Nice sakugo/highlight, though.

She expected her non-assistant assistant to get a briefcase wich he doesn't know the contents, wich fits a freaking long rifle that's at least twice the lenght of the briefcase and she expected to get it in the nick of time to deal with a psycho super-human/cyborg whatever with a smug face of "I knew it would go exactly like this". How is that not an asspull? And were not even talking about her acrobatic superhuman powers that clashes with an alleged "mystery show". It feels like the author just slapped the tag mystery in order to make it look cooler (wich has been the motto of the series so far).

I wouldn't call the first part action oriented when it was the one that had the most mind numbing long panning shots over just banter. One minute of cheap sakuga does not equal to it being the main focus (those who have seen other works of ENGI studios know this will be the most thorough cuts in animation of the whole series).

Feels like a slightly dull blade, but is just sharp enough to keep it interesting. It's kind of random how siesta wants this random dude (who's in middle school, apparently) to seemingly out of nowhere be her sidekick. If there's a reason for that that we get later down the line, it's all good. It's just odd that someone who doesn't seem to need any help would, well, need some help. Maybe the thing on the airplane was just a test for him to see if he would indeed be a good sidekick- idk, I haven't read the source material I'm going in blind to all this. And then how they move on to their next mystery, dude just randomly mentions this thing at his school. Maybe I wasn't paying attention properly but as far as I can remember, there was no clean segway into that school mystery. He kind of just brought it up randomly...?? Everything feels random now that you think about it, like randomly trying on some cosplay??!! Also what was with that transition of jumping out the window and then immediately having solved the mystery and even discussing it over tea? Who is writing the script fam? At least we have "SPES" to cheaply tie it all together I guess. It's been a rather shaky episode , but they explained why siesta wanted generic mc as her sidekick, so I'm happy. Incident-attracting powers for some reason, I'll take it even though it's weird. Only reason he would agree to be a sidekick for a detective when all he wants is a normal life is, well, the detective is kawaii. As for siesta herself, not the most unique character, but still definitely a likeable one imo and has enough going for her that this should be a fun watch.

And there it is, the detective is already dead. Roll credits! Wait a minute so is she actually dead throughout this whole show and is just living in his mind or something? I'm intrigued!

Anyway, despite everything odd about it, it is pretty fun time to say the least. Just like the fact that siesta ordered four pizzas for two people

Hmm... A bit too dry for me. Perhaps my initial expectation is at fault because I expected it to be a casual, slice of life flavored detective series like Hyouka. I also expect the show to be a bit "smart" in mystery side of things. I've read a few of the somewhat mainstream detective series such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Christie, but looking at how the series handle its mystery, I think I need to tone down my expectation by a few notch.

I'm tired with the current "standard" protagonist in Japanese fictions. I don't know why but most of the series as of late really loved a beta-male protagonist. You know, someone with a Kirito hair, goody-two-shoes, and "W-what?! S-she is touching me.... blush blush". God, I longed for a protagonist who can hold their own ground like Okabe Rintarou (Steins Gate), Hikigaya Hachiman (Oregairu), Oreki Hotarou (Hyouka), and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka (Classroom of the Elite).

But since Siesta is dead, which I suppose isn't the case in some way or another, I expect a few changes in Kimi's character. Still, 3 episode rule is always in play for me. Let's move on.

A double length episode that barely had enough substance to fill ten minutes, if even that. It is absolutely full of exchanges like:
"What's your name?"
(OH MY GOD WHAT WAS I THINKING JUST ASKING HER HER NAME OUT OF NOWHERE!)
"…Siesta."
"What?"
"You asked me my name and I am telling you that my name is Siesta."
"Oh, Siesta is a weird name."
"It's a codename."
"A codename?"
"That's normal."
"That is not normal."

Which is doubly unfortunate, because it clearly considers the dialogue to be the focus of the whole shebang considering that 98% of the 45 minutes is eaten up by these two imbeciles blather on like that, chewing scenery like they're bloody goats. Even more unfortunately, almost all the action in the entire episode was already shown in the promo, and that only makes up maybe 20 seconds of the episode. It's all talking heads, all the time, with thrilling conversations that take upwards of a minute to exchange names. All the while, a man with a tentacle grafted to his head patiently waits for them to finish their schtick. Are we on Namek? Are we going by D&D "talking is a free action" rules?

We shift from pretending to be some kind of garbage action show to pure fanservice dreck. As in she shows up at his door like a good little reductive manic pixie girlfriend, and they spend the rest of the episode
A.) In the bath,
B.) Eating pizza,
C.) On a cosplay date at a school festival,
D.) Sipping tea at a cafe,
E.) All of the above. Maybe it might be tolerable if they had even an ounce of chemistry between them, but both are joyless, morose dullards, so the only chemistry is akin to two inanimate carbon rods sitting on a sidewalk.

Wow! What a fantastic start, i was hyped for this anime ever since it was announced especially after finding out the 1st episode is 40min long! There was no way this could have been better, what a start! Already left me hyped for the next episodes.

The animation was pretty good and the whole Legendary detective & her Sidekick was so good xD

The only question now is how and why Siesta died? This all sounds way too weird for me especially now after we just met her, but for sure there is something more to all this. Can't wait for the next episode!

THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The visuals and the bgm was perfect for the 1st episode. Quite good for a new studio. Although the LN art is beautiful, the anime too doesn't reduce Siesta's charm. Though Kimizuka looks quite old for a middle schooler.

They rearranged a few events for the anime but it doesn't really effect the story.

I know the a lot of people are gonna ask if the detective is dead or not so I'll just say this—It's in the title. It's in the synopsis. Don't judge anything because of that and give this series a try. I know you're gonna love this unless they mess up the adaptation which I'm sure they won't.
I thought the main characters looked a little old too. I know it's based on a light novel but they probably could have gotten away with calling the protagonist high school freshman or sophomores and I wouldn't have even questioned. Despite that this show looks gorgeous and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Alright, I have been waiting for this. It was on airplane flying as high as 10,000 meters above sea level. I don't know why and it does look like that I want to punch those face, I mean Komori-kun. The hijacking of this plane is ridiculous, and the fate of 600 passengers is now only determined by a game? Are you sure about that Komori-kun? Komori is a member of a secret organization (SPES). With power, knowledge and intelligence, they have created the Homunculus, and threaten the world from behind the scenes. There is no one in this world who is not afraid of death so don't ask questions like that. I don't know why seeing an anime with a plane hijacking is very interesting, tbh maybe this is my first time watching an anime with a plane hijacking setting. It was an action-packed scene, Siesta seemed to have a hard time fighting Komori, with those tentacles it certainly wasn't easy to beat him. No one can beat Komori if you are not a monster, Siesta is an overpowered detective. I feel that Kimihiko is a badboy but Ma, he is useless in a fight, lol.

They tried several ideas against Komori, measuring the time of 30 seconds seemed hard. Siesta had to be held hostage by those fkng tentacles, it was so erotic. Alright, this is question how do you get those shotgun, huh? Together this assistant is indeed a good job, I mean fighting Komori with his tentacles.I like that action scene, how Komori fights Siesta. Siesta used a shotgun and threw a bullet, it hit Komori's eye as a result Komori swallowed a shotgun, lol.

Using bullets, Siesta made an obscure vow. If Komori was hit by a bullet from that shotgun then Komori wouldn't be able to attack Siesta anymore. It was a tiring hijacking incident, at least Siesta should give Kimihiko a chance to rest, lol. Siesta is want to make Kimihiko to be her assistant, I'm still curious about Siesta. Actually, what is the seven tools Siesta? Hhmm ... The strange key, the bath scene is also interesting, this is the romantic story of the detective and assistant. There's no lock that can't be opened with this key, damn that Was so op.

youth romantic comedy edition, Seeing Siesta wearing school uniform, it's cute because the detective wear school uniform... For some reason, this seems to have been tweaked a bit. I mean it's different from light novels, the school festival should still be far away. Ma, it's a cute bunny, they passed the haunted house and this is indeed a date. While they were chasing the rabbit, they were dragged into the cosplay club, they were cosplaying like a bride, they looked cute together. They literally jumped out of the window and it was a bride and groom in the sky, lol.

It was a drug case, the student who sold drugs got more pocket money, this was their second case. They're actually discussing this drug case in the haunted toilet, lol. Of the many scenes I like the scene when they say assistant and detective vows, really

"No matter anything kind of incident or trouble I get into you, I'll take care of you and protect you. So ... Kimi watashi ni joshu ni natte yo." Damn.

to be fair there were a lot of detective anime tropes in this. Japan loves making high school detectives with god Tier level intellects.

And that's all that are interesting, the whole episode is a boring one for me... so sleepy watching the first episode.
