The book I'm writing is also gonna have time travel at last. After watching vivy I thought it's cool. But it was shallow I think. So something better than that

Steins;Gate is also my personal favorite. I read the LNs after all the anime seasons and it got so much better. I'm not one to say to discard the anime as I personally think that the voice acting adds more to the feels. I say watch and read both for the best experience.

Here’s a differing opinion.

Re:ZERO can work as a time travel anime that is well written because he literally goes to the past.
But if you have seen Steins;Gate, Re:ZERO’s plot techincally never moved forward ( because convergence ).
Erased was quite close to S;G but time travel wasn’t explored much.

So, turns out there is no differing opinion, Steins;Gate for the win.

Other than the legendary Steins Gate of course, you can check out other anime like - Madoka Magica, Future Diary, Erased, Tatami Galaxy, Higurashi. And movies like - Girl who leapt through time, Your Name.

I would say Steins; Gate is the best one.
You could also check out Madoka Magica, which isn't really a 'time travel' anime per se, but it does have certain elements related to time travel in it.

Fair. No denying there were some plot holes especially when it came to the time travel aspects, what I personally liked was Vivy's journey and all of the different characters she met along the way

How many isekai anime are there where the "other world" is actually the same world in a different time period?

"InuYasha" comes to Mind. "The Ambition of Oda Nobuna" does too, sort of, though it's a different version of reality.

Higurashi time travel set up > steins; gate. Honestly higurashi is set up so brilliantly. People just into it for the gore and stuff though.

Also there's not much good time travel anime I guess. So stein's;gate would be the go to choice for nearly everyone. I would say re zero is more of an isekai deconstruction rather than a time travel anime strictly speaking. Though I find it better than stein's;gate. Like way better.

the disappearance of haruhi suzumiya is a fairly straightforward but still very well done one
"I like young-girl sexual creations, Lolicon is just one hobby of my many hobbies," he says.
I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

Don't disagree with the vast majority of peeps saying S;G but I also suggest watching Higurashi and you will see a lot of things that helped "inspire" S;G.

That is, if you don't mind the gore.
