LOVE Gugu's adult VA. Not quite what I expected, it seems softer than his child voice lmao he grew into a much more polite young man than he was. Love the relationship of Ream and Gugu now, as well as the brotherly relationship of Gugu and Fushi. Really wholesome. Also love that we can hear how Fushi has mastered human language here. His VA did a wonderful job at being shitty at Japanese, and then being completely fluent lmfao

lovely episode. the bond between fushi and gugu grows ever stronger. Loved the usage of fire and the sake in his body.

The animation was just beautiful. Highly detailed drawings, incredible fire and smoke effects animation. Just superb.

Also loving the story between Fushi and his creator.

But how is it that gugu changed so much in these years but the girl didn't age at all? that confused the heck outta me.

Also please don't do fushi like that don't give that guy such a bum look. I loved his character design before the skip.

A very strong episode, yet again. I love how well-written and well fleshed-out the characters of this show are. The plot is gripping, sure, but I think this anime is mostly character driven, which is perfectly fine.

Fushi lost their second battle with a "Knocker" and had to be saved by Gugu. Ironically, it appears that Fushi lost precisely because they had to protect Gugu during the first half of the battle, which is why they got so angry and threatened to bite him. Gugu meant well but did not realize his eagerness to fight something way more powerful than him endangered both their lives.

And yet... Gugu managed to discover and exploit the Knocker's greatest (or only, with the exception of its well-guarded heart) weakness! Since it is plant based it must be vulnerable to fire, right? That seems glaringly obvious in retrospect, but it never crossed my mind. Besides, Fushi cannot generate fire - at least not yet (Gugu asked him about it a couple of episodes back; again in retrospect that seemed like a random bit of dialogue but it turns out it wasn't).

Fushi's creator might seem heartless for asking Fushi to leave the booze tower, but if we take into account how Fushi grows he is not. He just wants them to become stronger so that they can take on the Knockers. In the 4 years of peace and tranquility in that place Fushi probably barely grew. People, as well, grow from struggle, pain and suffering (not too much though or they might break.. and they need their peace and tranquility as well). The same applies to Fushi.

Before getting to that tower they suffered a lot -both physically, mentally and emotionally- which is why they grew so fast. The people of the tower can help them learn to write, speak, cook, brew sake etc but I doubt they can help them become a better fighter against the Knockers, which is the particular growth they require or else "the end will come" apparently... Above all Fushi needs to replicate more (preferably fast and strong) lifeforms so that he has a large reservoir of them in the next fight with a Knocker, so that they are not reduced back to a rock again.. But, until now at least, Fushi can only replicate dead lifeforms with whom they have "connected" (or which have "stimulated" them according to that strange wizard).

Chad? Haha, les go. And cute anime girl? Les go! But Fushi rejected power, oh well he's basically a kid in the sense that he doesn't listen to this guy who most definitely knows more about this world than Fushi.

This is really weird episode especially with the timeskip that happen so sudden lol. And i also have few questions for this episode. First, where the hell did Gugu got the alcohol from ? It is never shown he was drunk during the fight then when he come back to the shop he already drunk. I have never seen someone would suddenly become drunk during the run just to get there lol. Second, there is "knockers" as the threat for Fushi yet during the 4 year time skip how come they could live peacefully ? Is the attack from "Knocker" is just for a show off then forgotten for fucking 4 years. Third, I wonder during those 4 years, why their fashion for the cast not changed at all lol. They just look really weird especially Gugu with the "buffmeup" appearance. The timeskip is also too sudden and I actually want to see their story as child more not rushed. I think watching rather long shows would get the impression that time has passed and the bond they build will felt more believable not surface level. Hopefully things will cleared out in the future or this could be one of the worst overhyped show to me.

Hmm So Fushi aged. I'm guessing it's because he never morphed during the last 4 years, which actually does make sense. His body followed the rules of time without him thinking about it. However, when he eventually DOES morph after this episode, I think it would make sense by the rationale of this world that Fushi transforms back into the younger form of 'The Boy'. Just cuz that's how his memory/stimulation is stored.
I hope that makes sense.

Other than that, the wholesomeness is both heartwarming and foreboding, because I just KNOW this can't last. Fushi and Gugu's bond is just the best. I also think that over 4 years, Fushi has probably learned to speak a lot more smoothly, so I'm interested to see where this goes.

LOL also, Black robe guy was like "go save the world" and Fushi was like "no" and black robe guy was like "Alright. Have a nice day"

How Gugu and Fushi (Joaan ver.) were cuddling after defeating that tree was so cute.

But damn Gugu turned into Inosuke after just 4 years time skip XD

I wasn't expecting Gugu to survive but now I'm guessing that something will happen again and Fushi will take the form of the Older Gugu.

“The freedom to choose is a sacred thing that ought to be given to all”

“But we aren't so weak that we can't endure it”

These two were the best quote of this episode.

Loved the timeskip. Gugu is RIPPED as heck. Damn, he's grown real big and tall, he's far taller than Rean now. He seems to have turned into a great young man. Rean is also even cuter now, and I think Gugu and Rean have grown closer.

So Fushi can grow? If the form of that young boy can grow, does that mean the rest of his forms also grow? Like a more adult Machi? That'd be heartbreaking to see...

Not sure how to feel about the previews. It seems Gugu's older brother has returned, that bastard. Wonder what will happen. The wedding ring with Rean? I'm hoping Rean gets together with Gugu, but she seems to still be interested in Fushi. I guess we'll see!

Kinda confused how the liquor only affected Gugu while he wqs running? Didn't he have the alcohol in his body for months since the old man found him and patched him up? He said there was a rupture which was probably during the fight with the tree entity but you mean to tell me all this time gramps was fermenting alcohol inside Gugu's body that none of it was absorbed into his system at all? Wtf? lol

Gugu was fucking badass in this episode and OMG it's so touching how they grew up together. Gugu is buff and Fushi is turning into an uncle lol

Even when faced with a supernatural threat that even the immortal Fushi cannot face alone, Gugu the brilliant man he is, managed to make the most of the situation and decided to use what was once a curse as a weapon. His alcohol-containing organ now acts as the fuel reserve required for him to blast anything he wants away with the fierce blaze of a booze-fueled flame. Stand up Gugu, for what awaits beyond this hurdle is years of happiness. And just like the man, he is, he singlehandedly burned the Nokker to smithereens, saving Fushi and finally returning back to the distillery all save and sound.

Things are peaceful now, but as Fushi's creator has put it, the Nokkers will return, so their perfect peace will not last forever, but as the Nokker learns over the years, 4 years have passed, a surprising time skip, to be honest, but seeing how far the characters have developed in this relaxing little hill, I couldn't be happier!

Since the moment I saw Gugu sacrifice his face and identity as a human for Reane all without getting anything worthwhile in return, I have always regarded him as the man he is. He is a boy through and through, but his demeanour, maturity and skills are akin to that of a fully grown adult. WHAT MAN is brave enough to selflessly do all that he had done!? What drunkard would confidently confess his love!? And what brother would save his sibling without any hesitation? Truly, Gugu has always been a man. And after 4 years of immense puberty (aided by working out day in and day out), he has become a man both physically and mentally. A true chad with a kind spirit and the mind of a philosopher. A hulking embodiment of what a man should strive to be, worthy of respect and admiration from men and women alike. I cannot help but smile in satisfaction :)

Gugu is not the only one who grew up though, Fushi too grow up in the past 4 years (I thought immortals doesn't grow up) the nameless human boy form is now a nameless human man, from the short lines he spoke, it seems that his speech is much more fluent now than it has ever been. Not to mention the Gugu-level cooking. Gugu-aniki has taught Fushi well. Reano has grown a little taller and from hopefully, less bratty than she once was. Old man and Pioran are still the same, just as the hill and the distillery is. (Except for the now delicious booze thanks to Gugu I presume)

To end this ep, let us appreciate one of Gugu's many mature outlooks on life... This time, it's the one thing he has in common with Reane
"The people who keep us alive aren't necessarily good people. But we aren't so weak that we can't endure it."

The perfect route for me is to have Gugu and Shin make up as "brother complex" and dismiss woman.

When Gugu said that the one keeping him alive is not necessary good, not only it resonate with Rean, it also resonate with Fushi, since Fushi is still hate his creator ignorance.

At this point, if Gugu doesn't die, I will be shocked. Hopefully he doesn't though.

I think that interaction with the "God" figure ensures Gugu will die. Fushi needs Gugu's firebreathing powers I guess. RIP Gugu in advance.

So I guess we have a timeskip of four years. Yeah Gugu is a goner. And there didn't seem to be any significant attacks by the tree monster things. Which is good but why did they stop for four years?

Gugu too! It's great to see that he's more at peace with his life now. That means he and Fushi have lived a decent life so far. I'm glad that Gugu found the home he's been dreaming of and that Fushi doesn't have to keep wandering around eating fruit in the forest or drinking water from the river anymore :'D
