Sadly they cut a ton from season 1 and now they would like those back as they can't progress story without some of that part

I think the bug is they're splitting this into two parts and having the diary season in the middle, kinda messes with the flow.

Agree.... having despair part split in two is kinda wrong move tho I understand what they would like to present
they should just remove OP and ED altogether for a big big episode

Can't say I felt too sad knowing what would happen already.
It was Eren all along...jokes aside looking forward to see Falmuth get squashed, Clayman likely later.
Myulan's lucky Rimuru is too nice for his own good, but at least she'll help him with this plans.

Claymen literally has Myulan's life in his palm. Its unfortunate but leeping Myulan confined is the best possible option right now. Somehow Shuna looks even prettier when working. Still the number of innocents slain in this cowardly attack is just so high. But seeing Shion and Gobzo's bodies just really makes that reality stick in. Still the fairy tale sure proved to be rather timely in its appearance. To think that Eren was hiding such a secret though. Man that was the quickest heart transplant ever. But its good that Myulan did not have to die. Youm though is ever the yes man it seems. But King Youm huh thats got a nice ring to it. After seeing the grim results of the assault its finally time for Rimuru and team to get exact their revenge on Famuth's forces. Curious how they will bring Shion and the others back though. Overall an excellent ep that combined excellent tension with effective usage of emotion.

So I'm not the only one who wanted myurran dead right? She betrayed the whole of Tempest for her own greed, causing the deaths of multiple lives (regardless of resurrection), and in return she doesn't get killed and instead gets saved and a slap on the wrist?

I'm kinda confused, what greed? I mean she made a deal with Clayman to stay alive when she was dying in exchange for loyalty, and he pulled a trick that would let him kill her whenever he wanted with a flick of a finger and hear and see everything she did by taking her heart (LN reader). It's like making a deal with someone for mutual benefit then said person straps a bomb vest to you and will blow it if you don't do what they want.

She knew she was going to die regardless? She even said that even if she completes Clayman’s tasks he was planning to kill her anyway, so there was no point in setting the barrier, in the manga/ln rimuru says ‘because you valued your own pitiful life more you’ve decided to damn my people’. She decided to let the people of Tempest die just for Youm.

Also, according to anime logic

3.14% = 100% possible
0.0001% = 100% possible
but 100% possible = 100% failed

LOL

lmfao. You know you're so right. Personally I think it would be really interesting if they don't manage to resurrect them, but knowing the show and anime itself that isn't very likely. Imagine this becoming a dark anime. Interesting but very unlikely

Is that Milim?..... Yes she is! That took me by surprise and damn it was tragic, now I love her even more.

Also... what! Those 3 idiots were important? And the blonde girl whose name I couldn't remember is an elf princess huh... lol. That was also surprising but whatever the case, I'm grateful to her for the hope she gave to Rimuru.

Shion's death would have been sad if they hadn't revealed that visual months ago with Rimuru and the main group (including Shion) in new clothes xD. The scene was very well done though.

I'm happy for Myulan because she is finally free, but at the same time I feel that she got off too easy. Even if she was forced by her circumstances she still caused them great harm so to be free of everything thanks to the new hope they have feels kinda wrong.

Excited for next week's massacre.

Great episode, my heart is trembling in anticipation of the next one.

with regards to pacing comments, i think the current pacing is ok, but it was a little slow at the beginning of this season.
Re zero i find to be slower, and sometimes that bores me.

Please bring my boy Gobzo back and Shion too. I like the chill isekai vibe this has always had but the worldbuilding is great imo.

Happy for Myulan and Youm but the bromance between him and Grucius needs to live on lol

I hope Rimuru channels Ainz from Overlord and wipes out the enemy human army in a terrifying OP way.

They mention that Hakurou is severley wounded and that Shuna is treating both him and Gobta, but no word on Shion, that really worries me...

Well, my worries from last week have been confirmed. Shion died in battle... Ngl, I shed a tear right there and then. I honestly expected Rimuru to lose it.

This has been a rollercoaster of emotions throughout this episode. Title of the episode is fitting, cause just that tiny bit of hope that Shion and everyone else might be ressurected is all I need right now.

Interesting developments as well, here I thought Rimuru was actually going to kill Myulan, but instead he freed her from Clayman's power. So pleased to see that.

Was nice to see the Fairy Tale to be about Milim. That was still pretty sad though, but it's just the hope Rimuru needs from Eren. Bless that adventurer Princess!

So up next is killing/sacrificing 10000 Falmuth soldiers to become a Demon Lord... Honestly can't blame him, his friends are at stake here.

Well I didn’t like this episode much in manga and LN as well as WN when rimuru reacts to shions death seemed much more emotional and they even cut the line where rimuru says “because you valued your own pitiful life more you’ve decided to damn my people” while this episode didn’t go as I expected it to be, it was still a okay episode for me and I’m kinda sad that anime didn’t explore the bond bw shion and rimuru more instead just rushed things so the anime doesn’t end on a weird note

mmmmm exactly they made rimuru seem a lot less forbidding it was quite disappointing, I remember reading this part in the manga and thinking how much of a badass rimuru was, didn't get the same feeling

they left out a lot of subtle details that created that atmosphere in the manga, of which was probably a choice of flow over careful character progression. sadly, the results lacked the same tension in both scenes which is quite disappointing indeed.

Like so far I am only being let down with this season, manga readers keep saying "It will get better!" and if this is what is better then I guess this is not for me. Like just now I hate Eren or whatever is she called since she triggered this whole BS stuff. So Rimuru just needs to kill 10k ppl to trigger his Necro ability? and what will happen next? Oh I wonder what would Rimuru do after killing 10k "innocent" ppl with his res ability. Not even starting with the soul stuff, that seems to be convenient, but there is just those 3.14% chance remember? Yeah lol as if... like this all just screams cheap to me.

Just like with the previous episode, this week's episode continued that feeling of sadness. We now know that both Shion and Gobzo were killed in the attack from Falmuth and the holy church.

Credit to Gobta's VA during his scene of him crying over Gobzo's dead body, which really added that feeling of despair while Rimuru looked on at the lifeless corpse of Shion, rage building within him. He must've been so upset and pissed off that he couldn't shed tears at all, the poor guy. =(

Just as he was prepared to use his powers to take all of the dead bodies within him, Eren's group arrived in time to tell Rimuru of a way that he could miraculously resurrect everyone. Not only did she reveal her true identity as an elf of nobility from Thalion, but she also got Rimuru a tale about a girl who became a demon lord after losing someone dear to her, which going by the clothing she wore and her hair colour and style, it had to be Milim's backstory.

With Rimuru's new goal in plan to save everyone, even if a brutal one at that, he also spared Myulan from certain death. What he did was destroy the artificial heart she had from Clayman and replaced it with another artificial heart, one without any wiretaps on it.

I do look forward to seeing how Rimuru's plan will go. Falmuth will only have themselves to blame now that they messed with the wrong guy...

But is not that bad since is a reason for Rimuru to finally get fucking strong again. I havent seen the manga so this is just a gessing, the story that they tal cabout fits very good with milli doest it? Even the draw. Idk will see :)

I think the one to blame for this bad s2 adaptation is the director.
He can't describe the sadness and anger when seeing shion. Its feel so dull when comparing to the manga (i'm not reading the LN).
And when mjurran need to die its no emotions in it.
Really a bad adaptation from the director. 6/10 from me.

I want to like this anime but it keeps shooting itself in the foot with bad situational and character writing.

Were they just not going to tell Rimuru that Shion died until he asked specifically about her? Was the death of someone close to him not an urgent matter? Also, right when Rimuru is about to get rid of the bodies he learns that he can save them by becoming a demon lord and he needs to murk 10,000 people to do so. But don’t worry because as soon as he learns that, he is told that there are 20,000 enemy soldiers coming to attack. How lucky!

What is so fucking special about Mjurran that two characters fall in love with her so quickly and are willing to lay down their lives for her? And that one will follow her for 100 years just for the CHANCE to bone her.

Also, why is nobody addressing that Milim, an ally of Tempest, is attacking Carrion, another ally of Tempest. Does anybody in the cast find this completely out of left field? Why have they all accepted it when this would essentially be like a declaration of war against another kingdom?

My god, at least the world is interesting.

Naturally there has to be some magical, miraculous way to revive the dead, because nobody can die in this series. People are tired of watching cliche where everyone lives happy ever after, seems like some content creators didn't yet catch up with the trend.

While I didn't come into this show looking for high stakes life or death emotional type action I was still pretty impressed while a little surprised to see actual death being addressed again, it really raised my impression of the anime as a whole. At least for about 10 minutes. I'm not saying that I'd prefer definite death of core characters it's just so cheap to make such an emotional scene and then do a take-back right after (haven't read ahead but I'm 100% convinced that 3.14% is happening). I'm just tired of my emotions being toyed with while creators try to have their cake and eat it too. It's a small complaint and I still really enjoy the show but this just felt like a "you can do better" moment.

Bruh episode, I feel like they can't just convey the tone of a scene in this episode. Everything just, keeps happening. Like a diary log. It doesn't feel like storytelling. And the name of the opening song becomes ironic in that context...
Dunno about Shion, whatever her character has gone into, I'd prefer she stays dead, being remembered forever as a martyr. But Princess Convenience came with the backstory of Milim (I guess) and now there's the Demon Lord option for a possible resurrection.
SLAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE
And just then 20k canon fodder shows up! Great! Myulan Miss Victim is also freed and I guess she's going to have a very weird relationship with the grey haired dudes. All the best to Rimuru. And f**k humans. Humans incompetent. Humans bad.

This show is just so bad at keeping up tension. Just as the stakes had gone up, people had persihed and Rimuru was dropping his monotone happy happy voice and some real pathos was building up, there they go and bring us back to square one, where no one dies, everything is wholesome and friendship with all, even those that would kill you for sport is the name of the game. It just makes for a very unengaging "story" for us neutrals who are not coming from the hype of the source material.

I am so 1 to 1 with everything you said, this episode started to make care for the show again and in no more than 5mins it destroyed it with the awful 'revive' plot and 'murder my loved ones but nakama' trope.

They could've easily showed the families of those that fallen build unrest and anger against Rimuru for not retaliating or seeking justice against those responsible and have Rimuru some kind of struggle with wanting to keep peace but battle with reality of peoples emotions. Just that quick we created 'depth'.

Youmu and his buddy literally caused the slaughter of Tempest citizens and Rimurus aides because they loved a woman. Also committed treason by fighting and resisting the arrest of the wizard girl. And just by hearing a 3% chance to revive from a hearsay fairy tail, Rimuru rewarded Youmu by being king of a nation and his fellow traitor wizard.

What kind of shit is that?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

So they finally revealed Shion death to Rimuru and what was supposed to be an emotional scene it was literally ruined when she and the rest the people that died in the attack can be revived if he becomes the demon lord. Only catch is that he has to kill 10,000 people and it just so happens that 20,000 soldiers are marching towards Tempest city like lambs to a slaughter.

To be honest I'm not sure whether I want to continue this or not because this episode has got me irritated to a point where I don't care about the story anymore.

If there's anything slime knows to do it's to remain being a simple power fantasy with no narrative depth, death isn't even important if Rimuru can just resurrect people. People might say he needs souls for it, but heck I'm betting if he needs those an enemy army with just enough souls will be sent straight to him instead of him actually thinking who to sacrifice from how the series has been going up to this point

Kinda annoyed by the "My girlfriend caused the death of several people but she deserves to live". I don't care about the resurrection -Shion's sole purpose was to be fanservice and make cringe jokes, a trash character so I never cared about her death- but I hope Rimuru really kills people or I'm going to be very disappointed with this anime.

You are not the only one. I was expecting Rimuru to banish her from the city or at least she decides to never set her foot in the city again but nothing happened. Also, I was annoyed by Youm and the other dude attitude. They only care about that woman they just met ignoring the time they spent with the people who died in the attack. Such selfish and disgusting characters to my eyes. Also, Rimuru rewarded him by being king of a nation? This anime writing makes Ex-arm looks like a masterpiece in comparasion.

also everyone complaining about revival being too easy, nevermind that were gonna trade 20000 humans for less than 500 goblins + 1 kijin

A little different from the manga but it's done well as a plot of a directed movie. No more excuse~
