Honestly, I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. It's a great change of pace for fantasy anime where it's overflowing with isekai content.

Dumb Elaina and Cringey Elaina were my favorites. I wouldn't mind a season 2.

Very nice episode! I like that they went with Elaina meeting so many versions of herself instead of them being facets of her personality, so she could learn to "love every part of herself" or something. That wouldn't have worked because...she already loves herself, lol. Dumb Elaina was cute.

8/10 overall for me, looking forward to the second season, if it gets made!

I don't understand. This episode feels like the weakest one, yet they decided to put this on the finale. Also the ending seems kinda cliffhanger so will be very likely there will be S2.

Also just how much work Elaina's VA done on this one. She's basically voicing a whole episodes, with various voices

Woh!! The last episode was a bit different but definitely suited this series rather than series finalle you can call it more of self review as Eliana want to know all the possibilities of what choice an lead her to ..

I'm binge watcher so this series and talentless Nana are only one I am watching weekly but I really enjoyed it

What an amazing series. What an amazing sense of storytelling. And what a compelling and lovable main protagonist. I know many people may have numerous issues with the main character and the sort of storytelling and tonal shifts and try to decry that the show has some "identity crisis", but honestly, compared to most fantasy shows nowadays, this was an EXTREMELY nice change of pace. I heard people comparing this to Kino no Tabi and saying that the latter is far superior due to "atmosphere" and "philosophy" stuff, but for me being too used to monotone series like that, Majo no Tabitabi has more of an edge for me in terms of changing up things and having more highlights for the characters themselves instead of mainly the settings in general. Plus Elaina is an ACTUAL character, unlike the plain vanilla flavor I get from Kino herself.

I wish people nowadays wouldn't get so affected by our current modern day societal and moral standards to where they really only look at things like this series from face value and not much more. I'm personally happy a show with throwback storytelling like this came to existence, cause it shows that the fantasy genre in general, especially with LN adaptations, is in serious need of more unorthodox methods and creativity.

Overall it's an easy 9-9.5/10 for me. Could've been much higher if they adapted more darker and/or deeper chapters from the LN, but I'm happy with the way things went, nonetheless. I'm looking forward to Part 2 of Elaina's Bizarre Adventure real soon.

Actually great Finale for a bad to middling level show, I'd say about 4/5 episodes in total were decent but more than half were just so boring or downright terrible. Biggest disappointment I've had in years, Glad it's over.

That's a lot of Elaina's. Fun to see each and everyone have a different personality type, greedy Elaina was my favourite xD.

Well it would seem Elaina was able to use the power of words to reach the heart of another Elaina who was not doing so well in her word. They friends now...nice shot in the bed hehe xD.

The final two minutes of this episode, it would seem that the studio plans to make a second season! Very cool!

Final score 7.6/10 > 8/10

Thank god this is finally over.

This one started near the top of my list after the first couple episodes made it seem like a coming of age story about a young witch traveling the world, but it began sliding downward from episode three, when our young witch left some people to suffer rather than get involved. I was ready to sort of accept Elaina didn't rescue a girl from slavery and sexual exploitation in episode three because she's flawed and/or she didn't want to instigate a major incident, but not only did she not appear affected by it at all, three episodes later she fights a whole-ass king because she felt like it that day. When episode nine had the child victim of physical and sexual abuse become a psychopathic murderer, it dropped to the bottom of my list. Adding a dash of f/f incest in episode 11, and making the antagonist of episode 12 the version of Elaina that was upset by others' suffering only further convinced me that this was written by a overgrown teenager stuck in an edgelord phase.

The disinterested observer made sense in Kino's Journey, where Kino was a girl without a family, special powers, institutional affiliation, or a home to return to. When you're a powerful witch with influential connections and a place you belong, you're just a privileged kid taking a gap year. 4/10

At first I thought so many Elainas would be a heaven. But in the end it's original's character that makes her so awesome, so all those copies were rather boring.

That ending left me really interested tho...

I don't know what to think about the overall anime, it was fine I guess???

Like, personally I enjoyed the first 6 episodes way more than the rest of the episodes what came right after and I didn't really like any of the characters either.

But I do see why people would like the anime.

I'll be honest and risk incurring the wrath of the rabid fanboys (calm down, it's just an opinion) and say that I'm glad this is over, which is a real shame because at the start, I was really into it.

It really felt like tonal whiplash week to week. Some episodes were full of yuribait hijinks, some episodes were fun and light-hearted, some episodes were dark and 3edgy5me and some were borderline horror. This show just felt like it had an identity crisis, which I can see why that's exciting for some people but for me it just didn't know what type of show it wanted to be. So, I liked some episodes, found some boring and hated some others. Also, sorry but I found Elaina very unlikeable - perhaps because I'm never going to be sucked in by waifu material but also, she was pretty annoying.

Like if you compare this to similar shows, like Kino's Journey or Mushishi - those shows know exactly what tone they are going for and they have a vibe and atmosphere that matches their stories etc.

I don't know. I totally get why you might like this anime. If you love Elaina then you'd probably love it. If you find her annoying then it's a bit of a slog. It wasn't bad but I didn't really like it either. 5/10

5/5 finale.

So this episode basically implied thought-provoking stuff in the disguise of a goofy 'personality-split' story that previous episodes were never in chronological order and we were seeing "different" Elainas most of the times. Because from what I understood, Violent Elaina is the version of her after episode 9 tragedy that she happened to encounter BEFORE Ripper incident (episode 8, so chronologically, it should be other way around). The 3 Elainas with darkness in their hearts are probably the aftermath of dark stuff like episode 3 and 4. Other personalities look comic relief at first but it makes you wonder what happened to her to end up as a slime, or even dead once to be revived as a zombie. I said in last discussion that this show can be enjoyed by skipping dark episodes but now I take it back. They were pretty important after all, especially for Elaina's characterization.

Overall, a solid 9/10 show through and through. Just alone for the fact that it gave me something entirely new on the table among norms. The ending also teased a sequel so I'll be hoping for a 2nd season too.

And now for the show's biggest mystery. Why are Elainas Naruto-running? (lol) Must be part of Fran's witch training xD

Interesting finale episode, to say the least.

16 different versions of Elaina but all on the same note by the end of the episode, that's some fitting way to end the series I reckon. Hats-off to the VA for her incredible performance this episode!

And a sweet little tease for Season 2? Yes, please. I'm not going to lie, this show has been an over-the-place kind of experience with the varying episodes but it was fun nonetheless. Hence, a solid 7/10 from me.

Op and the MC's antics are definitely going to linger around in my mind for a while.

What even was this finale XD This had me lolling the whole way through.

16 Elaina's... In all kinds of shapes and versions. I don't know where to start here but that was an awesome way to end the series. Protagonist Elaina is still the best!

Honestly, 9/10 for the show, but since I love Elaina so much, a biased 10/10 from me.

I do love that ending scene, potential S2 maybe? I definitely hope so!!

I liked the episode a lot, but to end the season with this episode was odd. And no follow up on Elaina and her mom and Nike. So of course there has to be a season 2, however that's no guarantee, so to end the season with an episode like this, is very assumptive to think they're getting a second season. I mean hopefully they do, because the show was great.

And so we end with Elaina meeting Elaina x16....or was it 17? I dunno. And was that a season 2 tease with this Amnesia? It remains to be seen. Well I'm gonna go against the grain and admit this series, while technically good in art and animation and whatnot, just wasn't for me. From the very first episode with Elaina's master purposely treating her like shit to teach her a lesson at her mother's request which could have just as easily been learned in a less obnoxious way this series rubbed me the wrong way. It felt like an anthology series to an extent. This despite a cast of recurring characters like Elaina, her master, the girl obsessed with her, and that girl's master. These stories ranged from acceptable if unspectacular like the doll hair or grape crushing, to downright obnoxious as stated with episode 1 or edgy for the sake of it like the killer girl time travel a couple episodes back or whenever it was. I can't think of a single episode offhand I found particularly fantastic. To its credit this last episode was probably one of the better ones. I was genuinely amused by big tits Elaina, if only fleetingly. So the range I'm left with on the whole is from bad to mediocre. However, based on those technical merits I mentioned earlier I suppose I'll give this a 6/10. If a second season does come I'm honestly not sure if I'll watch it. I'm inclined to say no right now, but honestly it would probably come down to how bored I was at the time, and how much free time I had.

5/10 overall for me.

It started off really promising for me with a likable MC and an exciting setting and structure, especially as a massive fan of Kino's Journey. But from the middle, it just lost my interest with inconsistent world building (doesn't help that we keep on meet the same characters over and over again in the journey) and a lack of real substance to enjoy and take in too. I get the appeal of it and I was all in on it for the first half, but it just became an afterthought for my seasonal watches as time passed on. My recommendation is to just watch the original Kino's Journey as even with its dated presentation, it delivers far more in terms of intrigue, world building and has meaning constantly with each episode. This disappointed me for the second half in particular.
I felt the saame. Liked the 1st half of the cour but the last 4-5 episodes seemed to be lacking and the finale was awful. DanMachi's season finale and the finale of 100 man were also disapointments.

so this shit is finally over eh, not gonna rant too much about it all i'll say best episode was still the first one with a ton of promise before it turned into the mess of Controversies with it's russian roulette of edgy as it went on dark episodes and mostly bad goofy ones it's easy to say this show suffered a identity crisis by the end with it's tone and the writing wasn't good enough to have a deeper meaning with a lot of it's themes or rather hardly said enough which lead to a lot of discourse with not just the message but with Elaina as a character which also wont get into much because fuck her ( narcissistic her) and this finale kinda showed how much i'd prefer her having any of these over top personalities than the one we got which is none

but + for now having Saya show up again not sure how a show managed to make me dislike a gay af character voiced by Kurosawa but it did

5.5/10 or just bearly a 6 because i did like a lot of the visuals at times

That sounds more like the recepie for an remorseful edgelord unable to adapt to society and it's norms. Elaina definitely feels more like a real person where she can be apathetic when it can be cumbersome, but also can become involved, empathic and even afflicted, compared to a one tone and one dimensional character like Kino.

Regarding your last line, before Covid changed our world, that was exactly what young people did in their early 20s, traveled the world to experience new places, people and culture without any responsability towards whom they met in their travels, just as Elaina did. Never heard of real people complaining about something as trivial as this.

I'm gonna need a doujin featuring a 17 Elaina selfcest orgy after this... Ok, 16 Elaina. I don't really need Cossack Elaina in there. It'd just get weird.

Overall, this show had a lot of potential but it didn't really live up to any of it. Elaina was a great character and some fun was had but it fell way short of expectations. What could have been an S tier show is just a B tier show. I'd happily watch a second season but I won't miss it if we don't get one.

I really did not care for the ending episode. It seemed to me to have a lot of psycho babble in it and really didn't accomplish much for the plot.
1. Loved the artwork in all the episodes
2. The way we started the series all cute and went off the rails into darker episodes was good
3. The yuri friend was just annoying as all get out... reminds me of the usual annoying little sister in other anime
4. Elaina and her parents was very nicely done... left me wanting a reunion

8/10 and throwing out the last episode as an outlier.

Good show, but that's it. Just good. There were multiple 10/10 ep that I really enjoyed but they're not consistent. Episodic, but too random. Dark shit at some eps and wholesome yuri the next. Overall stories of the episodes are quite good, but when combined together it feels kinda weird, like, the anime doesn't have any purpose at all? Maybe it's just my biased opinion about episodic anime. Anyway, it was pretty enjoyable.

An unexpected gem of this season, The Journey of Elaina (Wandering Witch) never failed to impress. The characterisation was unique and interesting, and the adventure-esque storyline created a unique and wonderful atmosphere and tone through some pretty interesting worldbuilding.
