Maybe sci-fi, detective and mystery in general but there are not many of those, even less good ones.
I like comedies too, but rarely they make them suitable for my taste.

I'm a sucker for a romance (but I prefer romantic comedies and not drama).
I also love comedy, fantasy and shounen.
The only things I'm very unlikely to watch are sports (because I also dc about sports irl) and mecha because I don't really wanna watch robots and machines.
'I love you because you're you. I'm happy that you're whole. I don't care if there are sides of you that I don't know, or don't like. If that's who you are, that's fine. As long as you're whole, that's enough for me.'-Kouko Kaga
I think I like sports/game anime the best (lumping them together because they're very very similar). Something about the shounen-type progression "from chumps to champs" never fails to get me excited.
I have a number of them and it's difficult to really give any one supremacy over the others, but in general I love in equal measure,
Thriller, Drama, Slice of Life, Horror, and (transgressive) Romance. Close runners up could be Adventure, Historical, and Sci-Fi, only weighed down by the amount of subpar content that seems to exist in them.
To be highly specific, a dramatic Slice of Life with a tragic or transgressive romance story or a thriller with a complex multi-level conflict with factions motivated by clearly defined opposing goals and rival ideologies, with existential stakes on which the fate of a whole people or way of life rests, would be my favorite of all.
Sports- I like them for some of the reasons I like battle shounen, the characters training to get better, learning moves/techniques epic "battles", comradeship (in team ones) and rivalry. Theres also something interesting about seeing sports from a different perspective and learning more about sports than I ever would have imagined there would be to know. It also seems like the genre where i can almost always tell if I'm going to like it or not, which is probably most of them if we don't count shows like Free! (Dont care about sports IRL other than playing football and basketball when I was younger)
Comedy- pretty simple, love laughter and all the fun that comes with comedy shows, especially darker comedies like Dorohedoro because I like dark things, though my love for dark comedy is obvious looking at my name
Psychological.
I've always been very interested in how several occurrences can affect the mind, how it damages and changes characters. If done right this can lead to some very emotional and disturbing writing.
Best genre is dementia. I enjoy subtlety and I hate when things are overtly stated not giving the person time to think.
Good subtle and interesting animes are:
Hard to say since I like a lot of stuff but battle shounen & sports are among the easiest ones to enjoy for me, even if they aren't particularly good. Other genres I like more when they're well done but I'm also more critical towards them and don't enjoy them as easily, like mystery or sci-fi or psychological drama.
I've got no idea, I just like anime. Based on favourites I guess there's a general slant towards seinen stuff, but I don't really consider that a genre.
Genres:
Different types of fantasy, either being high, dark or urban fantasy or a SOL mixed with fantasy like Natsume.
Tho my favorites are often quite dark.
I just love the settings and the imagination behind them and many characters in it.
Also I like different mythologies and love how they are included.
These are all too many to make a list here, but I could tell most of my favorites are fantasy.
In combination with this, I also like adventure very much, but also SOL adventure(drama) like SoraYori or in combination with something historical.
I like to see other places and when the characters meet new peope there.
Historical is great too, I like medieval ages, especially asians, because I have seen so much european medieval ages already, or maybe sometimes in a vuctorian or steampunk setting. I really like the aeathetics and some themes of steampunk.
Sometimes I also like SOL drama and romances (straight, lesbian and gay), but I got more picky with anime romances, because quite many I finished (rarely finished them in comparison tho), or tried, were quite naive.
Drama is always welcomed and there are just a few I didn't like so much at all.
Romance is... straight romances are imo often in the middle field with a few really good or really bad. BL / GL romances are either really great or utter trash with little inbetween lol
About demographics:
Funnily many of my favs are battle shounen, who often met my preferences more than others, because I liked many characters, I liked the stories and themes and the worlds and they are often mixed with adventure.
But I dropped Naruto, Bleach, Dragonball, One Piece and a few others.
Battle / adventure:;Noragami, D.Gray-man, Owari no Seraph, Inuyasha, Pandora Hearts, Vanitas no Carte, Fullmetal Alchemist, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Magi, The Promised Neverland, Attack on Titan, Tegamibachi, Pokemon Adventure manga, Dororo, Shoukoku no Altair, Arslan Senki, Claymore
Other shounen I love / like: A Silent Voice, The Ancient Magus Bride, To Your Eternity, The Girl From the Other Side, Beasters, Your Lie in April
Although I really like some seinen and josei too. Seinen is a mixed back, because you know, brutality doesn't equal maturity. The opposite is the case. But I especially loved some of the "calm" seinen or SOL seinen.
Josei is a mixed bag as well. Either it's very mature or sexualizing of guys and with a strange appeal I won't to hop on the train. Or they are weird adaptions from otome games.
Seinen:3-gatsu no Lion, Shimanami Tasogare, Scum's Wish, Houseki no Kuni, Spice and Wolf, Atelier of Witch Hat, Bokurano, Piano no Mori, Bungou Stray Dogs, Parasyte, Goodnight Punpun, Yuri Kuma Arashi, Bokura no Hentai
Josei I love / like: Nana, Paradise Kiss, Yuri on Ice... I dunno which others are? Haven't seen so much yet.
Shoujo tho often were pretty naive or just too cute for me. I don't like most old shoujo styles at all, many newer ones are okay to good.
Most shoujo romances couldn't get me tho and the heroines are utter bores, who are too emotionally fragile to be enjoyable. I'm not interested in watching a teenager girl being overdramatic, which is ofc true for some, but I'm not interested in watching these romances in particular. They are the female equivalent to the generic male protagonist.
Natsume Yuujinchou, No. 6, Banana Fish, Akatsuki no Yona, Children of the Whales, Utena, Hotarubi no mori e, The Levi OVA from AOT, Princess Tutu
I don't hate comedy, but most action and echii anime have better comedy than pure comedy anime . JoJo for example has better comedy than almost any comedy focused anime.
Sci-fi and Fantasy. Recently the fantasy genre has been filled though, with crap isekais and I'm like 'why you gotta do my favourite genre dirty like this?' Lol

You totally just explained what I couldn't put into words when it comes to sports anime (I do personally like Free! though). There's just something about the whole team spirit that I absolutely love. I think it's the trust between teammates and how they always have faith in each other. Not to sound like an antisocial loner, cause I personally see myself as a very social person, but I just don't have that type of friendship and trust as the teammates in sports anime have - so I love seeing it on screen.

Do you have any good fantasy recommendations for me? I personally really like isekai but I can see that a lot of fantasy fans don't really see isekai as fantasy and more as its own genre.
