Not anymore, sadly. I don't know if it's the shows I'm watching or or just me changing, but I haven't experienced that feeling for some time.

I still get a sort of pleasant melancholy after most shows, but not the lasting kind of emptiness that was most strong when I finished Clannad: After Story which was like my third or fourth anime.

"Do you experience this often?"

Not too often but more or less when the anime is meant to be sad. However, nowadays I skip sad anime.

After I finished naruto because of complete disappointment due to the incredible drop in quality of the war arc. It lost everything that made it great so I never found closure with it.
Hunter x hunter also made me very very depressed because I never know when the next bloody season or chapter is coming out. I’m just waiting and crying every day.
Banana fish because... if you watch it you’ll know
Anytime i finish a really great show i get depressed but the aforementioned shows got me extra depressed for an extra long time...

I wouldn't call it a depression but kid of a emptiness. I especially feel it after ending a bitter-sweet anime or episode.

Every anime the I got attached to it, AKA, Code Geass, FMAB, Death Note, Eureka7, Steins;Gate and more, basically I think the more person dedicates himself to watch his favorite anime when he will finish it he will sad.
Also, One Piece when it will finish in 25 years many people will be sad.

Hmm now that I think about it quite a lot tbh: Angel beats,Code geass(I remember not sleeping the night I finished it),Monster very recently,Fma:b.
I mean they all hit me to a certain extent but no ending has impacted me as much as Gurren lagan's ending,It literally left me speechless tbh.

i only feel for anime that genuinely moved me on an emotional level (as I am able to establish connections with the characters)
i invested in a show and it managed to grasp my heart
when it ended i need a moment for myself to reflect on the story as a whole so yeah

i could think of a few:
steins;gate
inuyashiki
spirited away
slam dunk
ashita no joe 2
space brothers
nana

These days whenever I’m more of a “yes I can get on with my life now” (even for shows I liked, I know that I could probably be doing something productive).

Though so far it’s only happened with 3-gatsu no lion and maquia.

A few anime have left me really pondering over the series for a couple of days, and sometimes have made me feel almost empty inside.

Nothing like what happened when I finished The Witcher 3 for the first time and I got the bad ending. I was devastated. Went to bed at like 4:00 pm lol

I am not sure what to answer, because sometimes shows do leave me feeling things for a while, but I actually like this and don't consider it to be "depression".

(In fact if you try to get me to watch something during that time I will probably not really enjoy the next thing because I'm still getting the feels from the first thing.)

Aria, Erin, Kaleido Star, Madoka Magica, Steins;Gate, and The Pet Girl of Sakurasou (this one due to some striking similarities to my own life), as well as the YKK manga all knocked me on my ass afterward. Couldn't get my mind off of them or watch anything else for days/weeks.

Lol I've had three playthroughs of TW3 now and I've yet to get a bad ending. What went wrong? xD

I've discussed this plenty of times here so ima be a bit different this time and talk about my Post Manga Depression, which hits even harder than PAD. It happened after reading Koe no Katachi, Onani Master Kurosawa, Orange, Slam Dunk, and more recently, Oyasumi Pun Pun.

I read it about a month ago and still feeling empty and out of this world. I'd never read such impactful/thought-provoking manga before. Although the story was perfect, and so was the ending, as well as pretty conclusive and satisfying on its own way, I can't help but feel like I want more, and that I want to come back to it and re-read as soon as possible.

I recall feeling a bit empty after having finished shows like LotGH. Was completely floored since it was one of the first mature and serious themed shows that made me look beyond "anime is for kids" mentality. It offered just about everything I could have hoped for. Have rewatched this series a couple of times as a result. Probably because it was a different experience from the type of anime floating nowadays.

Made the mistake of starting out with One Piece right after watching LotGH and boy had I never been this disappointed. Probably both a good thing and a bad thing regarding my shift in tastes.

Took a good break before getting back to watching stuff..

You had to pick the right dialogue in certain situations, and you had to have at least 3 of the 5 correct IIRC. I thought most of the them were just throwaway choices that wouldn't have any affect on the game. Looks like my choices were wrong in the long run lol

Say it makes you feel "upset" or "empty" instead because depression is a clinical mental illness and isn't just something that you get from watching a little sad anime, and it doesn't just go away if you're around nice people and/or things.
That's not to be confused with someone who cry all the time or beg for attention by surrounding themselves with tons of people, most likely for those "depressing" measures.

Well, Devilman Crybaby made me feel empty when I finished it... I actually couldn't process the ending. I sat there for a few minutes just staring at my screen. Later, I just felt angry.

On the other hand, Banana Fish is probably the only anime that took a month or more to get over. I honestly don't think another anime has ever made me feel such intense sadness and anger. Up until the very end, I cared about those characters and wished for the happiest ending possible... When it ended, I almost cried. Even seeing anything related to the anime made this heavy feeling come over me. The whole series just made me highly emotional...for better or worse.

Neither of them made me depressed but the way I felt after Banana Fish is probably the closest I've ever gotten.

I finished Akame Ga Kill! last night.

I really enjoyed this anime and despite the deaths of the cast, I'm satisfied with how it ended*.
But, it has left a bit of a void. I guess this is why I'm always looking for those really long running shows, trying to avoid that voidness.

So I'm looking for something else.

But the last one who got me was probably Banana Fish -.- I am always conflicted now when I recommend it.

Not an anime, but Final Fantasy XV took me a while to get over too. Post Game Depression is a thing too.

- Tonari no Atashi
- Koe no Katachi
- Akame Ga Kill
- Kitchen Princess
- Shinsekai Yori
- Ao Haru Ride

I wouldn't say I feel it 'often'. But I have felt it before. Only usually after binging a lot of episodes of a series in a short time.

Like, it matters less how much I enjoy a series, and more of how fast I am getting through it. So I'd say that my current lack of PAD isn't due to not watching good anime, but more that I haven't had the energy or time required to binge anything anymore.
