Pretty good start as I expected. Good thing this will last for a year. More enjoyment for me from the show and more enjoyment from MAL’s salt and posts from so called (self-proclaimed) critics. It’s like the best of both worlds.

LMAO ya can't have said it any better.

SAO has really a knack for edgy villains xD Had to lol when Kirito tried to pull a sword.

Nice first episode, I already like the concept of the Soul Translator and the connections with the previous parts.

Hope this will be a good year.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Guys, right at the start of the episode there was this text that showed up, giving us the time period the scene was being set in and... gotta admit... I was confused because it said "July 18, year 372 in the time of the realm of humanity". Like, what do you mean year 372?? That can only be a made-up year for the system/game, right? ^^'
But still, can someone (maybe the LN readers) explain to me, please?

My good this anime series is just im not sure how to describe it.

First of damn goody two shoes Kiriito keeps getting on my nerve.

Man they turned Asuna from annoying ass hell then to damsel and now a creep with that phone monitoring stuff is just way way to creepy.

Also man they always seam to get in to some messed up shit I mean they should stay far far away from VR stuff it only seam to put their life i danger some how.

Also it´s kinda annoying with all damn jumping from one game to another.

Only reason Im still watching is the premise is kinda interesting allot of other charters are well made and I would proboly enjoy Sword art online more if there was no Kirito no damn Asuna (Man I dislike her) and it was not about life and death in a video game every damn time sure it´s a bit like .hack but at least hack did not jump from game to game no im sorry I could not compared this meh to something far more entertaining.

Sadly im stuck watching this series im so damn deep in I need to watch because I wanna see how it will totally end.

I can´t understand why people love this so much and why every one wanna bang Asuna.

All I can say I liked the first half if they ignored everything else and just stuck with a story where Kirito will go on an adventure try to save that Alice girl and then it ended with Kirito taking of that VR and say this was a good game no one dying in real life. Like finally we can enjoy games with out some lunatic trying to murder some one with video games. But yeah it seams it´s sword art in a nut shell same shit over and over I mean damn that VR dived should be totaly banned and people should go back to regular controllers and tv screen or PC seam humans in this anime is far from ready for anything better than a console or normal pc.

Honestly, I don't even know how the actual hell that umbrella even stabbed that deep into that dude's leg. The tip looks quite dull to do so but I agree that stabbing him right in the chest might have stopped Kirito from dying taking damage.

The beginning confused me at first, but after the talk of Kirito, Sinon and Asuna I then understood it was probably related to the project Kirito is working at the moment (or so I think at the moment, since it seems unlikely Kirito would had got into a virtual reality MMORPG at such young age).

I bet the leader of the group that Kirito's gang were fighting with in GGO will be relevant later. Otherwise they wouldn't had featured him with that air of mystery in the first place (he may even be that legendary player Sinon mentions during the conversation in Agil's cafe).

The ending thankfully brought us the typical crazy SAO villain. Wasn't as funny as Sugou or Asada-san-kun, but it was something at least. I wonder what will happen with Kirito. We know he's not going to die, but still. Will he enter in Underworld in a comatose state? Time will tell.

Loved the first episode, my favorite part about SAO is the whole ... ya know, SAO part of it, so whenever they mention SAO and things get brought up from it they always have my attention. When the ALO arc started my interest and love for the series kinda dwindled, S2 had it's ok parts but looking back on it, it was just ok and the movie I enjoyed but couldn't see the whole augmented reality stuff really interesting me I kept thinking how dumb they probably look in public. But S3 has me interested and I hope it goes back to more of a SAO feel.

Dropping to a 1 rating for a small thing like this? Absolutely not. A simple umbrella stabbing will not stop me from enjoying the anime so far.

Year 372 is how many time has passed inside underworld since its creation.
Note that it isnt a game but a virtual reality in development and the time in the real world passes much slower than that of underworld. Seems like you didnt pay enough atention to the conversation kirito had with sinon and asuna because he explained that there.

As I said im so deep it I need to watch how it finally ends like I need to know the finale and I said the premise is interesting just shame it´s the same shit over again but with different nut jobs and pain in the ass main characters. The anime is okey I mean it´s not Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni levels of bad it is just watchable.

Sure if it painful to watch I will drop it like I did with Re:Zero no the show was not bad just that it was so boring and the main characters where even more annoying than Asuna and she is annoying as hell well this time around she was just your run of the mill creepy girl friend.

animations seem worse than season 2 for the underworld-childhood-part and moving parts in the present. Art is good as usual for still images. The soundtrack and music are very nostalgic. The Seiyuus are also good. The dialogue between Asuna and Kirito on their way back home felt a bit unnatural to me.

It´s not rely shit it´s just an okey series with the same stick like the first time but with a different nut job that wanna murder people. It´s like watching CIS same stuff just a new murder case and if your lucky that episode can be fun or it can be lame.

One question before i leave my thoughts about this episode > Is SEASON 2's story PIVOTAL for Alicization? I never watched Season 2 and i never will. I don't care if a few characters are unkown to me at the start (for example the girl with the sniper) But if the story connects heavily with the one of season 2 then i guess i will have to drop Alicization.

Man... The first half was so nice. Beautiful world building, cool characters, good soundtrack and a decent plot start.

But then the second half began.. Uninteresting boring gun shooting shit with laser swords and Snipers... I dropped season 2 for a reason! I don't wanna see anymore of that shit!

The real life stuff was boring too. I just wished they would have completely focused on the new world from the start to the end. Fuck this real life thing and FUCK this other world with weapons EVEN MORE. I know its Sword Art Online, and the Fantasy Worlds are only 'Games' thats how this Show works, but it would be so much better if we only had this new World to focus on.

The production seemed decent. Glad the Dragon's weren't CG, a good chunk of movement in this episode too. The backgrounds (especially in the first half) were all amazing and the colors are very nice.

another thing. The guy at the end "johnny black" am I seriously supposed to remember that guy? apparently hes from season1's first arc.. I watched that years ago.. and now he just shows up in real life? dafuk..

I'll be keep on watching a few episodes, hopefully they concentrate on the new world and not the gun shit.

Don't worry. GGO is pretty much unconnected with Alicization. The second half of this episode with the whole crew playing GGO was an anime original as well. And you're not expected to remember any of the Laughing Coffins members' names cause they weren't mentioned in the first place. Most of the Alicization arc is through Kirito's PoV in the Underworld and will sometimes jump back to the real world.

glad to hear! thank you very much :) i will be looking forward to this then.

Well that´s why im watching this season or what you call it in hopes it will not be as bad as previous entry and it started of good and reverted back to it´s old self with oh no some nut job is doing something stupid again. As a Novel Reader I reluctantly loved the First Episode,
basically they cut quite a bit of detail ! but damn they did a fine job either way, the First Ep as big as it was, was not enough to contain all the info dump. in the novels there was so much more.
adding them all in a 1 EP of anime make it really bad, but they still tried their best.

I like to ask everyone to forget all their bad impressions and just relax and enjoy the season and everything will be explained soon enough.
although some things might have to be cut a bit.

I really don't understand some people who hate on such a small things in the show, like they are just watching to find faults.

Had a guy complaining about Why the Ice they bought from there still did not melt at all in the basket but it suddenly melt when it fell out of basket ! and was saying fuck logic and stuff like, It's obvious its another shit show with no logic.... I'm like ... really man ?

funny thing is, there is a completely explained reason for this in the novel !
The UnderWorld is basically a game-like world ! they open status window ! they see a spoil timer !

Just like a game, like ARK ! Ice Water got a spoil timer of Days in a bin ! but if u put it in ur inventory it melt in 10min !
and it's still fully ice water and not melted until spoil timer reach 0 ! then Suddenly melt !

the Sandwich they were eating would stay Fresh all the way until spoil timer reach 0, then instantly spoil !
it was explained in novel.

the Ice in the basket with a cover from the sun got days before spoil, but once it fell on a hot ground in front of sun, it's spoil timer reduced and melted.

Many things in the anime, not only in this season but all seasons can not be explained since there is just not enough time !

Overall !
I loved this Episode and i hope Season 3 can deliver what the novel have to offer ! It's a great one !

I would Give the whole SAO Series a 10 out of 10, if only a few minor asspull was not there and there was not so many random girl wanting kirito's D even tho the man already got his eye on Asuna.
He pretty much fuck and marry her in Game ! Date her in RL, meet her mother in volume 7 and kinda propose to her already xD

The SAO series should only been Kirito and Asuna going from game to game and saving the day xD we need more Asuna.
fortunately there is more Asuna in this than Season 2. but mostly Kirito and Eugene ( blonde boy )

Just the fact we have Yuki Kajiura on this make everything so more interesting than that garbage called Alternative GGO. With that being said, I really disliked this new character design. So far, I would say it was interesting start, and it could be something great, but it could also be pretty boring. I guess we'll have to wait to find out

The quality of the animation has improved since the first season.
SAO presents a new world where we meet our 3 protagonists, Kirito, Eugeo and Alice, these children commit a crime tabu and Alice is sentenced to death, I must say that I was moved by the desperate attempt to save Alice.
The second half of the episode shows us action in the GGO world, Sinon with the rest of the group are faced with a PK team that end up fleeing, the action proved to be of good quality, the animation was also up to the situation.
It was quite refreshing to see the old cast again, especially Shino and Asuna.
Wow ... LC keeps doing his thing, now this Johnny attacks Kirito and leaving him unconscious, from what I understand, it was the same poison they occupied in the Incident of Death Gun, the cliffhanger was a tremendous impact, what will happen to Kirito?
PS: I loved Alice, her design is to my liking, but i want to see her grown up version using that spectacular armor.

I started watching the episode and in the first few minutes, I thought I was wrong and I had gotten into an anime Yaoi.
It's my imagination or the sound of the swords were like a fart hahaha
PD: Good episode
If Kirito died, I would say that in this season it is fashionable to die in the first chapter.

WOAH, the visuals look frigging good.

But... As someone who read only the first Alicization arc light novel right before jumping in this new season, I am disappointed by the lack of all the inner dialogues that were there that would have helped the viewer of the anime adaptation understand more about the world of Underworld and the backstories of Eugeo and Alice, which are the most important characters of the arc.

Great to see SAO back, and it's even going to be 4-cour. Bliss.

Great first episode and a great start. It already gave off an ominous feeling, and that cliffhanger, whew. Heard good things about Alicization. I'm really looking forward to it all. They have a lot of episodes to go with.

Is it just me or has Kirito lost weight?

Thoughts! Thanks for asking!

So at first I was like wtf is going on and why is Kirito little? Then I find out he is testing some new software full dive tech thingy with this new “game” even though it felt more like a world they were trying to create than a game. There really wasnt any gameplay it was more...acting out their daily lives? Kinda weird so im wondering what these ppl are really after making this “game.”

Safe to assume everyone else playing it is also a human irl and not just an NPC in the game i would think. Interested to see where this goes. Hope they dont get caught up on the mushy Kirito x Asuna stuff that one scene was more than enough.

Nice to hear Lisa singing at the end. She always gives a good song. Lots of new characters i see in the ending too. Did i get a glimpse of a pretty purple hair character?? I hope???

Also why the fuck is Armin in SAO

Also man they always seam to get in to some messed up shit I mean they should stay far far away from VR stuff it only seam to put their life i danger some how.

In fact, the only real danger was SAO, what happens in ALO is a consequence of the events of SAO and the success of GGO, the only implicator was Kirito who was the one who accepted the job.

Any person who watched the anime or read the novels would realize that the franchise is not just about "SAO" but that it takes SAO as the starting point for everything from the moment of the creation of the Seed. It is more your comparison with Hack do not have any sense, because in the world of Hack the only open MMORPG is The World.

But if what happened in Underworld has no relation to what happens at the end of the episode, the psychopath who attacks Kirito is someone from the first season and who is related to the third and as I insist, the VRMMORPG have absolutely no problem, the only game that had a problem is SAO, the GGO events were planned by external people without using any function of the game and that shown in Underworld, nor has there been any indication that people die.

Yeah but as the anime showed several time Kirito and is crazy gf happen to get in to deep shit like first SAO then some psycho goes after Asuna in the alf heim part and in gun gale if I remember right it was all about some PKer named Death Gun killing people in game and they end up dead in real life. I mean clearly VR gaming should be outright banned.

But yeah to be it feels like Sword art is just repeating it self just a new game and new nut job and Kirito has to save the day or find out who is the bad guy this time like. Who is behind this mask.

Im not saying it´s bad or so but with the boring main character and hes wacky gf it´s kinda hard to feel interested. I would be more interested seeing like Andrew and maybe Ryoutarou solve the mystery.

Such a good first episode! So happy it's back. Already know it's going to be a great Season.

Also the Fatal Bullet references were a nice touch.

How dumb, first they work on a tree for hundreds of years and then a girl has to be executed because she touched some forbidden ground with her fingers.
But lol at Asuna's heart beat app of Kitiros heart, I bet it will be used to induce drama when it shows that kiritos heart stopped, only that he can appear later "suddenly" alive.

1/10 from me

Yikes... I can't even...
I am the bone of my sword.
My blood is Iron, and my heart is glass.
I have overcome countless battlefields.
Unaware of beginning,
Nor aware of the end.
The orphan is alone again, Striking diamond dust on a hill of swords.
Yet, my flame never ends.
My whole body was still "Unlimited Blade Works".

Frickin' hell, SAO enticing us with an hour long intro to season three (well, 45 mins give or take).. great episode though, it got a chunk of aspects in to give us a good understanding of where they're heading this season; America? Really? Ahahahahaha
Damn, kirito and asuna are lovey-dovey as always, bleugh😷😷 (btw, I'm joking).
can't wait for things to kick off

The best season is here. Goddamit, it was so great. Alice's voice is perfect, Kayano did a good job making her voice so young.

The OP is fire!

There's a lot I like to say but I'll leave it at that.

I'm completely lost on the story... Feels like I jump half season or something like that.
For a big episode it felt like it was dragging itself til the end. Funny enough, the most enjoyable part was the exposition on the cafe. LMFAO.
Also, that last battle is kind of laughable...

I liked the first episode, and I have really high hopes for this. I just hope they don‘t mess it up, because the light novels were really good.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but with how popular SAO is ! its not gonna lose it's hype anytime soon, the older anime seasons had lots of flaw too ! if they do a good job this season, it gonna hype up even more !
I really never saw an anime is made into so many games/movies/spin-off/manga/novel spin-offs and so much more.

I'm hoping for SAO Progressive to get an anime of it's own as well, would be sick !
Even better than this SAO xD

( btw there was news of a live action series for SAO as well, god i hate how they always ruin live actions i hope they don't make it lol )
