I actually liked this ending and was much more fitting and feels more closure than original anime version especially Sharon's character, who seemed to be off for me on the original anime version's toward the end. But the art was really bad when comparing to original show.. and the voice were just fine!

The manga re-calibration happened.

So the ep 70 and the 2nd movie aren't canon anymore?

This OVA was fine, but it lost some charms compared to 1998's.

I started to feel a bit worried.

After this I probably won't even bother trying with the new TV series. Really unnecessary replacement of the ending, and incredibly boring on top of that.

Such a dramatic and so cheesy episode. I almost threw up. Jesus.

Almost forgot that Toya and Yukito are in love with each other. Hihihihi.

2/5 for too much cheesiness. Forfucksake. 6/10.

Looking forward for the main series, though. I have to recall all the shit that happened in the anime when I was so little. Jesus, good luck, watashi.

"Maybe he's trying to take a shit, but the shit just won't come out."

So to all studios who think they can't do future sequels because of anime-only endings...here is how you pick up the slack.

The art is refreshed while maintaining the old CLAMP 90s feel. Madhouse did an exceptional job keeping in line with their previous work all this time later. SFX and music is pure nostalgia. Having the same voice cast is a huge bonus and imo shows just how much love they themselves probably have for this title a decade later.

Huh, they did a retcon just like other studios did. lol

It's not unnecessary, it's the real ending. The ending of the anime just like most part of it is filler.

I love how some things are filler these days but in some cases like this, it isn't lol

I do enjoy both this and the anime conclusion (still have to see movie 2 and fnish reading the manga though), I dont think this version denies the other one, in fact they both can coexist I would say, I m fine for alternative "routes" as long each own has quality to it.
And this OVA was really pleasant to watch, and did manage to move me, since the series was a big part of my childhood.

Now lets see how will go this with the sequel (feeling very positive about it).

8.7/10 (mostly nostalgia factor, but all opinions are subjective so all good and dandy~~

pretty much animates the last chapter.
watching this remind me of the manga all over again.

what really grind my gears is that Sakura have jump, fly, and other cards to catch up, but she didn't use them to catch up with Shaoran. did his confession just made her a complete blank?

I'm a huge fan of the original series and rewatched the series last year to prep for the Clear Card Arc.

I actually thought this was done well. I personally find Shaoran and Sakura's relationship to be absolutely heartwarming, so I was happy to see the manga endings summed up in an OVA to flow into the new series.

I believe the background does get a bit distracting at times, but I was glad with the call backs to the music. The voices are done well.

Haha, I'm pretty happy with it! I like it about the same as the original. (Which is to say, it's not the absolute best anime, but it's very nostalgic and fun.)

After watching the first episode of Clear Card arc and this episode, I feel like there's a weird gap on the timeline here.

In Clear Card Arc eps 1, we see Sakura saying goodbye to Syaoran in the airport, but in this OVA she said goodbye to him in the bus station. I wonder what's with this weird continuity? So is Clear Card Arc series follow the anime continuity and that the prologue is just a one-off manga continuity?

I still enjoy it overall though.

Finally, I can see this prologue in the right way, since I finished the TV series of '98 just yesterday. I said "in the right way" because now I have all the elements to understand the various situations shown in this episode; and also compare the ending of the anime series with this prologue. The differences are many and even quite profound in certain contexts, from the beginning with Sakura at school, through Erol and his departure, and we reach the final with the delivery of the teddy bear by Sakura to Li. We come to the technical questions: really beautiful drawings and narration well accompanied by the musical commentary, in which certain passages are identical to those of the '98 series. Fluid animations and detailed backgrounds, something that was not there before; the props were all faithfully reproduced except the tablet, and the pigtails of Sakura. Overall, however, it was a good prologue that prepares the ground for what will come later, also because of this I do not budge what has changed here compared to the original story of the TV series.

I absolutely adore the original anime and the second movie (the first is just ok). So I probably went into this with too high of expectations since I knew it was from the manga but didn't know it was a retelling.

The strong points were, the music, the background art and characters were great, the voices were exactly as I remembered them and I did feel like this did a good job of fleshing out all the characters. In the anime, I never liked how Shaoran didn't talk much in the anime and felt like there were things unsaid in the anime (like Touya and Yukito knowing about Sakura). They touched on all this, which was nice.

But it just felt a bit underwhelming. Maybe it was because I saw this after the second movie. I wasn't bored, it kept me entertained and I loved the interactions between Sakura and Shaoran but it felt lacking.

Still looking forward to the new series. 7/10

I had no expectations, so I was surprised with a retelling of the final chapter. It also appeals to anime watchers by using the original soundtrack.

so slender at the age of eight year old, don't like at all that design change.
excessive blush, why today animation makes them act that way, seriously they look like toddlers.

But this should've been labeled as an epilogue of the main series also.

What I don't understand is, didn't Sakura set her goodbye to Syaoran at the airport? Oh well, the bus scene was romantic even though it was just overly done. But the hug scene at the end, made things okay in every aspect.

Nice to see Eriol leave along with his pets and sensei, annoying bunch they were for me.

This was a nice special episode, made me wish there was a full third season.

This made me feel both nostalgia and heartache towards Sakura and Syaoran's relationship and their immediate separation. It's a little bit different from how the anime ended but it's more or less the same with the original one being a tad better.

I really liked seeing them meeting up with each other at junior high at the end though!

This was a bit different than the final episode of the original series. I'm guessing that this is closer to the manga's ending. Despite being different, it was still good.

I thought I had deja vu: Syaoran told Sakura that he liked her or that he was going to Hong Kong.
But it was interesting anyway and I liked the ending.
