Despite seeming like a subversion it pretty much plays the light novel/game characters archetypes and chuunibiyou terminology so straight I don't see what's the difference between it and a regular light novel adaption. And the mc is a generic but wimpy nice guy yet again. I'll hold out for now since only watching two shows while I'm on vacation would be pretty boring. I hope the characters and plot can surprise me in a good way rather than being walking tropes. Since they are "real" it would be nice if they broke out of their predetermined characters, or heck through some interesting meta commentary(Himegimi has given a little).

The badass music and ED song? aside, this was really good

We got an alright MC who as of right now doesn't seem like an idiot or is over the top and is rather acting kinda like someone IRL about and all 3 of the girls so far all have something likable about them (the post scene was funny lol and the short white haired girl is something else xD) - Really nice humor between them via their dialogue

The action scenes were pretty good and I was VERY impressed with the Gilgamesh girl and the red haired girl...And did I mention how great the music is for this?

They didn't really explore what's going on but this is a 2 cour series so we have plenty of time....But as of right now, I'm really liking the concept of this series and I don't think I've seen a series yet where actual fictional characters come to the real world....Its usually either like SAO or LH

Overall, really nice start and I hope that the visuals continue to be good
how is it 2 core if i thought they make the studio makes the anime before hand
2 cour means that the series will run through 2 seasons back to back....This series is slated for 22 episodes

Pretty great start overal. Main character is your basic: "Guess this is my life now" Type to be expected. But still has time to show hopefully more of himself. Lead female has a awesome design, Loved the mecha she had and her easy yet careful acceptance something is up.

Overal this was a great start of the anime. Not perfect but well within bounds. Shows great potential for the future and Is one to follow for now. Hopefully it keeps it all up so that by the end we can keep recommending this.

The world can change in just 1 second... yea... but that was pretty intense, with the car and everything.

Wonder what kind of a direction this'll go from the next episode onwards.

The premise reminds me of "Stranger than Fiction" but with characters from different magic battle shows. It's like that episode in Fairly Oddparents where the Crimson Chin characters battle it out on Timmy's real world but with more worlds.

This started better of what I thought. The fights were cool, the OST was great (as expected from Sawano) and the plot of the series looks interesting.

MC was a bit better of what I expected, he was very chill about what was happening around him. I expect him screaming and being a wimp for the rest of the series, though.

This could end being a trainwreck, a blockbuster or the combination of the two. Let's see how this will develop.

This show will appeal to a lot of people, but it will probably go somewhat unnoticed because it's on Amazon. Amazon Strike is the bane of my existence. I have a Prime account and used to be able to watch all the exclusive anime offered by Amazon, but after Strike came out you now need both. I not only have to pay $10/month for Prime but an extra $5 for anime now? Fuck off! In all honesty, when I look at shows getting licensed I pray to God that either Crunchyroll or Funimation picks them up. They have the best compression and video players, and you don't need to pay extra for a service you're already paying for!!!

Not a bad start, music was nice, like the winderwiper, the scene after the credits, and the scary knives girl (here eyes are cool). I wonder if she is a character he drew in his child years and abandoned for whatever reason. That would be cool, to have a character pop up and be super pissed at the MC for forgetting/not continuing their story.

I always like it when an anime original thing pops up, hopefully with 22 episodes it has potential to be great.

People complaining about a generic protagonist a lot, I see.

Now, I'm not one to be overly positive about stuff, but this is written by Hiroe Rei, so my mind immediately goes to a little manga called Black Lagoon and in it, there is a certain character called Rock.

With that, I believe that the 'generic asian man gets badass with some time' thing can be done, and we have the right guy to do it right here, in the Re:Creators' production staff.

Fun first episode, laughed when the MC started slapping the shit out of his iPad like a retard. Hat twin tails battle loli is the best thing so far. Love her design.

I don't know how this anime original is going to turn out. This can be a complete train wreck or a surprise hit. So far, nothing in the first episode made me go WOW, but I did enjoy it. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one; mostly due to Rei Hiroe being behind the writing. Then again, the guy who directed Aldnoa Zero is in charge....

good to know cause that anime (and especially season 2) was dumpster fire.

still i liked the first episode alot so this is an easy pickup. really dope soundtrack too

He also directed Fate/Zero and Ga Rei:Zero.

Shouldn't you guys blame AZ's scripwriter(s) instead of the director?
Aoki Ei is the director, not the scriptwriter for AZS2.

It's rather hard to grasp the logic behind the stupid hate here. Much more foolish than the blame on him during the airing of FZ.

This. If Ei Aoki directed Fate/Zero which was a wild success, then the flaw lies with the scriptwriter, not the director. Given that we have Hiroe Rei (Black Lagoon's author) as the scriptwriter, I forsee no problems with this show whatsoever.

ANN reviews hyped up this series way too much. I went into this with high expectations, but instead it turned out to be okay. I expected to be blown away, though. Music's good, action's good, and it's very flashy, but the story is lolwut. And the MC is lame so far.

Then again, nothing has really stood out so far this season besides sequels, so this is at least something.

Well, this wasn't as bad as I expected, but it's still not great either. If I had to describe this episode, it was kind of fun, but dumb. Not a lot of stuff makes sense and I feel like they just want to squeeze in as much mindless action without explaining anything for now. i want answers. The animation was pretty OK, nothing too special but not bad either. Characters from so far are kind of cute and I can't say I hate any of them yet. The OP song is so good.

This has a lot of trainwreck potential left in it. Oh, and of course they can understand each other, they all conveniently speak Japanese, it's a common thing in anime, but it's still bullshit.

The highest profile "bad scriptwriter" in the industry right now, Okouchi Ichiro has been taking the blame since the Guilty Crown era.
No one blames the director for the plot messes he(or his colleagues) has made.
I don't know why the hell people are starting to point fingers at the director.
Do you guys even know what is the job of a director?

This is just pure nonsense. Not even a speculation with something to base on. Just people riding on the hate train because it is edgy to hate.

Good start, not bad voice cast and superb animation. Also amazing sound track, as expected from Sawano Hiroyuki. I just hope they don't mess it up halfway like they did with Aldnoah, but there's always hope. Really liked the designs, though I found the heroines being too used to our world a little vexing (like driving a car out of nowhere, reading/speaking japanese, buying sweets, etc) .
TL;DR This is shaping up to be one of the best shows this season!

I agree with this. It's difficult to create a natural flow for something like this where ordinary characters are thrust into extraordinary circumstances.

How would you react if your fiction came to life after your tablet crashed, transporting you to a fictional world and then back again in the span of five minutes?

Besides, we know from Sota's own testimony that he's merely the narrator; hes' the plot device which is meant to introduce the larger players within the story.

Agreed. I disliked Aldnoah Zero S2 as well, especially the plot holes. For instance, the mecha that could quantum clone itself infinitely......why not just use that tech to create an infinite supply of food? Episode 12 was simply nonsensical; Earth is on the backfoot, the Orbital Knights are about to start the last invasion to finish the Earth Federation off, and then somehow Slaine orders everyone to stand down in spite of the fact that--even with Asseylum's speech--he still holds the upper hand. Complete and utter copout.

Nevertheless, the course of that story must be blamed on the team as a whole, especially with the persons responsible for the storyboard and character layout, not upon individuals.

Hmm, interesting start. I really enjoyed the weapon choices and character designs (except for MC, even if his personality is adorable at times) but the ending bit where they went to the convenience store kind of ruined the ep for me. I hope the series is more like the first half than the part after the credits.

I hear a lot of people bagging on the MC, but doesn't the Shouta guy pretty much admit in the beginning that he's not the MC, just the audience perspective narrator? I wouldn't expect the story to revolve around or do much with him. Personally I'd actually appreciate that considering most Isekai MC either end up unlikable for being wimps or stupidly OP for no reason. Would much rather they used one of their "fantastical" in that role instead.

Thinking the plot of S2 gives my brain cancer, there were more plot holes than the surface of the moon.

I'm not freeing the director from the blame, even though I enjoyed his works(AZS1, FZ, Kara no Kyoukai 1st movie, and the KnK extra movie) .
The director can be blamed but the logical target should be on the guy responsible for the script or series composition.
Here I see nothing on it but just because Aoki Ei is the only director for TROYCA(a newly founded studio) and people start to throw shit on him.
Just WTF ◉_◉

IDK mate, there's literally NO introduction is done to him in this first episode.

I have no idea what people are bashing him for, he seems to be a high schooler, a Pixiv regular submitter(potentially a renowned artist but it's just me speculating), nothing is narrated to portray that he is a beta jappon boy like other commenters have said.

The show is 22 episodes, and I'm expecting him to be properly introduced by next episode.

Seems like an interesting setting alright but I'm not sure what they're going to do with it. So we've got a bunch of fictional characters that have been brought to the "real" world. Cool. Then what? Are they just gonna fight each other? Or will it be some Holy Grail War-esque battle royale where they'll end up connecting with the "creators" of their respective works of fiction and that killing them off will erase their creations' existence as well kinda like Master-Servant pacts or something?
