It´s obvious that Luffy considers Pekoms a friend to an extend, but it´s bad writing to let Luffy go from hating someone for hurting Pekoms,who he cannot be close enough to have this motivation for, to working with the same guy he hated mere seconds ago. It was amazing writing when he teamed up with Crocodile for the sake of saving his brothers life. It made sense back then. Crocodile was a person Luffy did hate, but he put his feelings aside for the sake of his brother and their quarrel was already fairly far in the past.Even Vivi who was hurt directly through crocodile´s actions considered Luffy´s decision as necessary and trusted in it. This chapter however is nonsensical bullshit. Even if it turns out that he´s been acting. To deceive who? The Strawhats who they are his friends? Brulee, who they have captured and wants them dead anyway? Go ahead, I dare you to refute this argument. He might have simply listened to Jinbe. There's even dialogue(from Nami) suggesting that he agreed BECAUSE it was Jinbe's idea. After post-marineford and the quarrel on Fishman Island, maybe he simply learned to listen to Jinbe. After all he seems to be taking the old, wise, experienced guy position in the crew, so he might become the only guy in the crew that Luffy listens to, and that will be his "thing". Also, Jinbe's gag seems to be having extremely vague "strategies" that are incomplete and supposed to just sort themselves out on the way, and that he wants to name( I mean, it happened only once, on FI, but this is also the only gag-like thing he did, ever). So it would certainly be the gag - Jinbe has some vague plan with not much planning behind it, and Luffy always agrees to them, no matter how stupid they are, because he sees Jinbe as the wise guy. |

| Whoa whoa whoa, you're telling me that Luffy is about to make another alliance with another supernova? Nice. So when we'll get Kidd - Luffy - Law alliance again to fight Kaido? This chapter have a lot of info dump for Capone Bege. It's nice though since we haven't learn all that much about the other 8 supernovas, other than Law, Luffy and Zoro. What bugs me is that... they're fighting Big Mom without the usual full Strawhats team. I know they had 2 years of screen time compared to Nami, Brook, Chopper and Sanji, but you guys can't really start a fight with Big Mom without your strongest fighter that fought in Dressrosa. Not to mention, Big Mom had more armies than Doffy did, so it'd be crazy if those 8 + Capone Bege will do any damage to Big Mom. |

| LOL at Nami's speech bubble piercing poor Sanji right through his heart! xD It's not like he didn't deserve it though I don't like the idea of the Strawhats teaming up with Bege's crew, he's too much of backstabber type. Luffy is one dense dude, but surely he's not dumb enough to fully trust this guy. |

| Good chapter to come back to after the break. It's nice to see more of the supernovas and their backgrounds. Also great to see Jinbe being the voice of reason saying that going against big mom is impossible with the number of people they currently have. This potential alliance will be an interesting one, the Fire Tank-Straw Hat-Vinsmoke alliance. I really want to see just how strong Ichiji, Niji and Judge are when they go all out too. Can't wait to see what happens at the wedding itself. |

If Capone fails, Oda only proofs what everyone expected already and this was predictable and boring. The only quality to come out of his betrayal, could be a display of Big Mom´s abilities, when she destroys Capone. 3. If Big Mom actually loses even through backstabbing, this is atrocious payoff for her buildup. Fairy Tail level of badness. If Capone actually defeats suceeds in defeating Big Mom, not killing her, this is the worst arc in One Piece and everyone with an ounce of dignity should downgrade this series, although it´s barely probable. Who dies in One Piece? But meh, I doubt she's going to defeated anytime soon. Not nearly enough buildup yet for Big Mom to be defeated right now (if she's *defeated* at all) and we still haven't solved the issue of the fact that she has hostages. A Big Mom defeat is the last possible thing. And, I don't think Bege's betrayal was blatantly obvious or anything, but even if it was, being set up is a *good thing*. So the events that happen don't seem spontaneous. I've always had a feeling Big Mom's comeuppance would come from betrayal in some manner, considering she treats all her allies(and family) awfully. |
