OMG!!!!!!!!!! THE ULTIMATE REVELATION !!!!!

That all that Eren and his friends know, the walls, the Titans, the Walls , the very World itself is not what it is. A pat on all the readers who had stuck with the story since the first chapter. We all have some inkling on what the basement might contain.

The next issue will be on how will they break the news to the public. And the ultimate question itself : Why were the people living in the wall to begin with ?

NEXT CHAPTER IN OCTOBER !!!!!!! DAMN YOU AUTHOR THAT IS A CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT!!!!!!

So humanity isn't extinct outside the walls. That was predictable because we saw many hints. For example Ymir and Reiner saw that can in the castle. And I also had a theory that the story doesn't take place in the 9th century because of: Potatoes. We all know the Potato girl aka Sasha Blouse. She loves potatoes. But where do they come from? When Columbus discovered America he also found out about potatoes. Potatoes originally come from America and they were introduced in Europe in the last half of the 16th century. So does the story take place in America? Well we've seen many European styled houses and castles so the answer is no. This proves that there was something wrong with the "time". In this chapter we got a confirmation of this. The photograph was invented during the 1830's. And Grisha Jaeger wrote that humanity isn't extinct outside the walls and that people are living a harmonious life. So my theory is that The Maze Runner and Singeki No Kyojin/Attack on Titan have a lot in common. The main character of The Maze Runner came into The Maze with no memory. He only remembered a girl(forgot the name) telling him to not worry and that everything will be fine and etc. Any similarity? Remember that dream Eren had in the first chapter? A girl that looked like Mikasa said "See you later Eren." If you look at the picture you see Grisha, a woman(probably his first wife) and a kid. I think many people think that this kid is Zeke. And there is a big chance that's true because Zeke even said that Grisha "brainwashed" them and he looks a lot like Grisha. And if you've seen the live action movie. Eren discovers that he has a half brother in the movie. So let's say Eren and Zeke are half brothers what the movie is telling. What did his brother say in the movie? Scientists were experimenting and discovered how to make Titans. And the scientist who discovered that was none other than Grisha, their father. He knew how to fight the Titans and save humanity but he chose not to. But why? That's the question. And at the of the movie Eren and Mikasa were standing on top of Wall Maria and could see a more advanced world outside the Walls. So the movie is for a big part canon.

Reminds me of the movie : The Village

It was a really shitty movie. Probably the manga was inspired from there?

Basically a Village on a private land, a huge park that is, filled with trees and in the middle is a small village. All villagers live the secluded not knowing much about the outside anymore ...

Well it's a crappy movie, better just read the summary of it if you are interested.

OMG FINALLY THE FREAKING BASEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

its just like what i expected probably most of us predicted this much but its the revelation that's makes everything exciting, poor them i really felt bad when they saw the photograph thinking its a portrait :( same with the coffee mugs in the several previous chapters they didn't know what it was

the kid in the picture might be Grisha not Zeke and those are Eren's grandparents, it also could be Zeke since he said " father " more than once in the previous chapters

so here's my theory, what if the people inside the walls are the ones who's responsible for the failed experiment that created the titans and the people of the village are the survivals from the disaster you know just like in Noah's Ark they fled in a ship leaving their country behind and went to another one.. maybe the land they are living in is actually an island so the titans can't get out of it assuming they can't swim? i dunno really there's so much possibilities ahhh can't wait for more details!!! xD

The ape titan and his minions treat the people in the walls like they are the real monsters. Perhaps they were and brought some kinda Titan war or outbreak down upon the world. They probably lost and used the walls as a last resort to protect themselves from the rogue titans and the shifters who won. Then used the mind wipe to control the populace; preventing them from revolting. Meanwhile, the shifters outside the walls took control of the titans, corralled them behind another wall and left the losers to fend for themselves while keeping watch. And the rest of humanity simply moved on.

Yep -- make a lot of sens now.

the 2nd season is coming this 2017 right? I wonder how the season 2 will end. If the final episode will end here, people will go crazy lmao.

Season 2 will be like this:

battle at the castle (forgot the name)
clash of the titans
battle with kenny (the political arc or whatever its called)
then this current arc

episode 25's final scene will be them getting in the basement but idk how will they end it. The part I'm hyped for is Levi vs the beast titan, can't wait for that getting animated lol but that'll be in ep.20+

Originality is a myth these days, so I don't think you can judge the series from a twist that you've seen done several times before, it's how the twist was executed and what Isayama will do with the story here on now, that should be the exciting part.

Yep! Let's see!:3

As I was reading I was like... they will stop before they actually show the **** basement! Well I was wrong!

But as well as I am curious to see the rest... I am a little disapointed, as the '' in fact there is moderne society over the wall" thing is really overused!! Maze runner and Divergence just popped in my mind the second I read this. Not the most original plot twist there is.

But well, still a lot of questions to unanswered so we'll see how it goes.

The hype is real!!!

My theory is that there was something like a civil war between the outsiders (which includes RBA's people) and another faction, and the outsiders used the titans to get rid of their enemies. The enemies were forced to retreat behind the walls and live there. Ymir's people were one of the factions who lost and that's why Ymir was turned into a titan. The Reiss family was probably the pawn of the outsiders all along, their job was to brainwash the citizens and maintain the status quo. Grisha was probably a spy sent by the outsiders but he chose to help the "walled" people instead.

I wouldn't be surprised if the theory that the titans were created by humans in an experiment becomes canon. The theory that there is a much more advanced civilization living out there has been made many times in the past years.

Holy crap. When the key didn't work I was so sure we'd have to wait more chapters until they figured things out. When they actually found the books I was so sure we wouldn't know what was inside until the next chapter. But thank goodness we know the most important thing now.

It kinda lowers the tension a bit for me. Like if they were all that was left of humanity, I'd want them to live more, but now that I know they aren't, it's like, even if they all get eaten by Titans it won't change much. I also feel that this information really straightens things out. Now clearly they must know that they are in those walls for some purpose.

It makes me wonder how they did it. How did they invent titans and then manage to trap a lot of people behind a set of walls with no memory of there being an outside world? What's the point of trapping them there and then slowly killing them off? Obviously people like Reiner and Bertoldt think that everyone deserves death for some reason.

Also, I guess Eren has a brother now.

While many people think that the decision to keep Armin alive was a bad one, I understood the decision. Levi chose him I think because he realized that Armin is just a kid and he hasn't even lived yet, and he felt that Erwin would choose Armin for that reason. I may be wrong but I think that's the case.

Anyways, FINALLY WE KNOW WHAT'S IN THE FREAKING BASEMENT OH MY GOSH I THOUGHT WE'D NEVER GET THERE THANK GOODNESS.

How interesting. Mind blown!

So does this mean that the walls are basically a safe haven for humans who have been placed there by other humans centuries ago and the titans ... Hmm I'm not even sure what im typing lol

It was aliens and the Titans were brought to earth to see how we would react. The wall was out safe zone. It's all a science test by ET.

That or Its a bit like the village where the elders used Titans asa means of keeping their people away from humanity and they died while Titans remained and civilisation took on its on legends and myths, fiction became fact. Is this all on an island somewhere with the walls in the centre? Is there another 4th wall way out beyond keeping Titans inside. I await the day AOT breaks that 4th wall and its revealed were reading it from within Wall Sina or something. Meta!

Ohh the emotions.

The most plausible theory is indeed those inside the walls did a grave mistake and is being punished by it, or perhaps they're just baits, or an experimental rat. Otherwise how could it last for generations, with such a deliberate system to keep everything bottled up.

Poor Bert though. I mean, poor RBA. Really we have NEVER heard anything said from their perspective. If only there was a chance for some truth and civil discussion.... Hmm, but perhaps truth will be worse....

The studio never said anything about there not being enough arcs. Season 1 did it with 33 chapters with the Trost and Female Titan arc. Season 2 has 37 chapters to work with. Clash of Titan arc and Uprising arc. They postponed it mostly due to most of the staff working on Kabaneri. Not because they needed more arcs since they had enough material since late last year for a 2-cour season.

I'm on the side saying that the key was kinda useless. Yes it didn't open the door and Levi kicked it open (which was the best part of the chapter) but with that logic then the key isn't needed to open a wooden desk. The only thing I can justify the key for is it as a physical reminder that the basement exists and it needs to be explored.

But seriously, Levi has been though a lot of shit in the recent volume so him kicking the door open must of felt goddamn satisfying.

Well he's set up the next chapter well, let's see if he can deliver. I really hope the story he goes for isn't something basic like inside the walls is experimentation etc etc, if he does that he'll have to come up with something amazing. These next chapters will make or break this series tbh, as it's good but still hasn't reached the level of great.

I really like how they harped on the hardships they'll face without Erwin since it seems more realistic that they'd feel that way rather than just rejoice over Armin.

I won't lie. I don't like this. "Oh you thought humanity was fucked, but it was just you" is something that always annoyed me with such kinds of stories. This aways leaves the question of WHAT THE FUCK DID THE REST OF THEM DO BY NOW? And it also kills the whole apocalyptic feeling and makes the scale of the whole thing smaller. Who cares if humanity in the walls die since the world is full of humans anyway? So what, it was a social experiment? Just our guys in one island/continent, while the rest of the world didn't give a fuck? I mean. I expected tho see other walled cities, but, humanity with developed technology just watching how some fuckers live like shit was never the kind of plot twist I liked. I really want to trust Isayama with this one, but damn I was hoping this is the kind of plot twist we are not going to get.
Other than that the chapter was okay. I liked how Eren run up to Armin and hugged him, cause it's not a thing you usually see from Eren. Armin might have some Bertold memories after all.
I really hope the story will take a good turn.... I can believe Isayama went Divergents on us.....
