I'm pretty sure it's because of the event ticket.

Even without the event ticket, volume 3 is predicted to sell ~3.5k. Volume 1 was predicted to sell 5.7k. So I assume since volume 1 got 8.2k, volume 3 will get at least 4k.

YAAY! LOVE LIVE <3 Happy to see it in the list yet sad that it's the end T____T

Sad to see Aoharu, Junjou and Durarara 2 part 2 is selling below 3k

I thought OPM will sell more than expected, but 8k is really not bad XD

I KNEW STARMYU WILL SELL GREAT! MUST WATCH IT! I'm sure now we will get a new season even tho I didn't watch it XD

And last question, why Aria is came in this list after 10 years?

I don't believe this is actually giving me headache for real.

It actually doesn't mean much right now. Pre-sales were at 3.2k, meaning that is essentially the minimum sales. I would very seriously doubt Amazon only ordered enough to stock presales, unless they hate money. It could be above the threshold and there just wasn't enough data, it could be below it, we don't know til the data's out.

Calm down til you see actual numbers ;P

Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry below 3.9k ? lol. It's been said alreayd but that's kind of shocking considering it literally sold out everywhere. Even if they didn't stock alot you'd definitely think it would be more than 3.9k or less .

That's like not wanting to make money lol.

Incredible that after all these years, all those episodes that the Monogatari Series can still sell crazy amounts per volume. A testament to its popularity. Not surprised either as the series never disappoints. Never.

Shame to see neither Sakurako nor Shinmai BURST make the cut off. Really wanted to buy the former but christmas shopping took priority. Might have enough money to get it though in a week or so. Got my copy of BURST on the way.

Blu Ray + DVD
11,719 11,719 Strike the Blood: Valkyria no Oukoku-hen Part 2 Limited Edition
*4,973 *4,973 To LOVE-Ru Darkness 2nd Vol.5 Limited Edition
*5,140 *5,140 High School DxD BorN Vol.5

As expected another first week drop for BorN, less of a drop that I expected though and it's sales are by no means bad. Hope for a fixed S4 ain't a pipe dream just yet. Strike the Blood continues to amaze me with those fab sales. S2 soon hopefully.

maybe it is flopped for its popularity.
OPM full season disc sales would be on per with its single manga volume sales, for example light novel's case It's said people expect 15 percent copies of source material,OPM disc sales is about 1percent of manga sales copies

OPM is most recorded anime on both play station and TV(toshiba) for seasonal anime so it is safe to say most watched seasonal anime in Japan too.

It did not rank in the Top 20 Animation BD or Top 30 All-Genre BD. You have to wait for the Top 100 All-Genre BD list on Thursday/Friday in Japan. If it didn't rank in Top 100, then we can isolate its sales to a specific range using the Oricon BD extended list (it gets updated tomorrow in Japan).

8.8k for a series that's more oriented to boost manga sales than actually sell discs is actually very positive. Also,I thought the volume contained 2 episodes and a short special only. What else does it have?
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

It's backlash against the hype isn't it? Anyhow, the sales are okay, just nothing to write home about. Since it's intended to sell manga anyway and the manga sales look very good last I've checked, it doesn't matter too much.

Two audio commentaries, PVs, Special CD with a mini drama and a 12 page color booklet etc. Pretty much the usual I guess.

It's not awkward at all. OPM still has a ton of fans and is making plenty of money through it's manga boost and pretty good disc sales.

OPM doesn't have a higher budget than any other anime. The chief animation director even made a statement about it on his twitter

I am just glad that Starmyu sold enough discs to warrant a possible second season. What's with the lower than usual Monogatari franchise sale? Isn't Monogatari supposed to sell between 25-35 thousand?

I know I am not much of a fan of OPM but... I really thought it will have a godlike sales. Anyway, it is sill successful so banzai!

Starmyu definitely did better than I thought it would, even knowing about the event ticket. Good for the fans.

Iron-Blooded Orphans' sales looks great although I saw that it was discounted price and something about a code? Hopefully it continues to do well (not expecting the same amount being sold though), really loving the show so far.

Strike the Blood OVA though.

Note that the Girls und Panzer Movie and the Free Movie are definitely higher than what is on this chart now, since Box Office Mojo handles the exchange rate changes in a really dumb way. Until we get an updated report from Bunkatsushin, Cinema Today, or other Box Office news sites, the Box Office Mojo numbers is the best we have.

Not the final number... Love Live Movie as of its 28th weekend (Dec 20), GaruPan and Free Movie as of their 6th and 4th weekend respectively (Dec 27).

It costs ¥15,012 for episode 555 to 573 (19 episodes)... ¥790/ep. That's almost 1/4 the price of a normal 12 episode TV anime DVD (it's almost 1/5 the price of a BD). So 8.8K copies isn't that much at such a low price.
