Well, it's not like he isn't right.
Keeping in mind how he is now, I'm surprised that he went to show his respects for Shirazu.

-There were some complaining about him only being promoted to Associtate Special Class, whilst it's understandable you have to understand too that it was an off-season promotion, so that's why he only got promoted to ASC instead of Special Class.
Urie finally got his credit by becoming the Quinx leader again, but at what cost.

We won't see anymore chapters until next year, as I've been told (might be wrong). Atleast this chapter hasn't ended with a cliffhanger.

I want to be on the positive side and say that Kaneki threw Shuu off to protect him from the CCG and he new that Karren would try to save him.

Karren x Shuu. It was both beautiful and sad. It seemed to have sank before it left the dock.

I'm a bit mixed on the Urie Kaneki moment. On one hand Urie shouldn't have tried to blame Kaneki for Shirazu's death. He was fighting his own battle and didn't know what was going on, but I do think what Kaneki said to Urie was somewhat mean spirited and was not something to say so soon after a death.

I was sad to read that Shirazu was pronounced dead, but by this point with this series, when we are told someone is dead. I have a hard time believing that. I'm looking at you Takizawa.

you're right, get him out of the squad leader position, so he had a chance to think about the own mistakes showing how he was inappropriate to be leader and often train with him are unimportant.

maybe Urie will not imitate the way that Kaneki took after the Aogiri arc.

Urie was always the one meant to be in charge of the Q's but Kaneki, while being delusional as Sasaki, didn't know/didn't want to be harsh on Urie and the end result is someone unfit, Shirazu, being squad leader and the eventual sacrifice.

Depending on how Urie interpret what Sasaneki said in the current chapter, it can get several tragic points, as he follows a path similar to Shironeki, but it remains to be seen.

and I think you are forgetting some points, Urie has been under development for several chapters, you remember the chapter where he breaks down mentally? it is in this chapter that he admits he always tries to take the easy way out and talk all he really thinks. and how his relationship with Mutsuki improved after that? he stopped sabotage Shirazu and was happy that Sasaki was recognizing his skills. and during the raid, Urie demonstrated a genuine concern for Saiko when she was attacked by Noro and even worked together with Mutsuki in fighting ghouls. Urie was already in development even before Shirazu die, the problem is that many fans only give attention to the "Promotion, Promotion, Promotion".

I have no idea why you people bitch so much about Kaneki's behavior. He was a shitty mentor? Nah, he was a harsh one, but I believe that he's decisions were right. Nobody is able to foresee the future, he had no idea that Shirazu will die. The whole thing about being mentor is guiding people - giving them opportunities for growing stronger.
Urie changed because of his squad, but his squad started working this way was because of changing leader. Shirazu was the one to kick Saiko out of her room; he was also the one who scolded Urie at least once. Shirazu also has grown up as a person because of becoming squad leader; he could become good investigator if they didn't fight Noro.

I also don't blame Kaneki for these "harsh words" - I believe that they were even harsher for himself. He told Urie what he believe is true for everyone - for Kaneki who wasn't able to save so many dear ones, and for Urie who couldn't save Shirazu, and for Tsukiyama who couldn't save Kanae... I also believe that this was about Kaneki who wasn't able to save Shuu - he had to sacrifice him (his life or their friendship) for sake of others. Probably for Hinami.

Besides, I'm not sure if Kaneki isn't sure that Tsukiyama's family worked with Aogiri from the start. Kanae and Eto' saving Shuu were really suspicious.

Karren's death was so sad that I still want to believe that she survives. She's one of Eto's children, isn't she? She was able to regenerate when Ken cut her head off...
