| It's not wrong, not weak either. We are not living in shounen manga. In real life, sometimes you have to know when to give up. Like if you have a problem with big debt. Or you're being sequesters by some hoodlums and know that you'll be tortured and skinned by those psychopath. It's logic, better than stupidly living in the pain that you know you can't handle it. |

You want a bunch of unstable mostly mentally ill and disconnected people to be placed in a conflict zone, with armed rifles and expect them to do anything that will actually help a coordinated and expensive military campaign? Sure why not. Funny enough I really wanted to join the military but eventually decided against it for the very reason that I knew I wasn't mentally well enough for the duty required of me. I still think about it sometimes. |

This. I get really sick and tired of hearing people constantly saying it's "weak" or "cowardly". It gives me the impression these people have never known true despair before, they've never been in a period where their life literally sucked so much that they contemplated the act of suicide. And people who have no experience with something, should not be judging others that have. And before anyone says something dumb such as "people commit suicide for stupid reasons", just imagine for a minute that everything that has meaning in your life is suddenly gone: All your loved ones, your job, perhaps your home, everything. I don't think there's anything "stupid" about feeling suicidal when you literally have nothing left to live for, even if perhaps one day you'll get your life back on your feet, if you've been in that situation for a long time, it's very easy to give up hope. And I believe most people that do unfortunately kill themselves, do so for at least fairly good reasons, not because their iPod broke and they can't listen to My Chemical Romance any more. |

Things can also potentially get better so I discourage it and I'd like people considering suicide to take a breath and analyze the situation before continuing. | I am not against suicide. If the person decides their life has no purpose, then they can do what they see fit. People make it seem like committing suicide hurts more people than living. What about drug addicts who steal and kill to get another hit? What about people who have terminal illnesses that cause them to suffer? Sometimes life doesn't get better for people. Things aren't black and white. |

| I hate that it happens. I don't find anyone who has committed suicide to be "weak" though. I think they are much stronger than me, honestly. The people I've known who committed suicide genuinely surprised me. They never once opened up to anyone about what they were going through. That takes incredible strength that I wish they didn't have. You can't let all that stay bottled up inside. Your thoughts and opinions of yourself and the world will just get worse and worse. You're your own worst enemy. |

| Coming from someone that was at one point in their life suicidal and attempted it twice I can speak from experience that when someone gets to that point where they feel as though it's impossible to go on, it's very hard to battle your demons and come back from the edge. People say things like "Get over it" or "It's not worth it, suicide is selfish" but imagine waking up every single day feeling like you're worthless, your life has no meaning, you feel dead inside and absolutely hollow and find absolutely no joy in anything life has to offer at all. Imagine feeling the lowest you could ever possibly feel, like you're walking through a pit of tar and you're just slowly drowning more and more each day. That's what it's like when you get to that point. You can have people that tell you it's all going to be OK and hang out with you and be there for you but at some point or another, you're going to be alone, by yourself and your thoughts are your own worst enemy. So my thoughts on suicide? I've managed to come back and conquer all my demons. It's hard and not many people have the mental strength to do so, however there is always a way out of anything and I can say from experience life does indeed get better. |
