Despite the fact that it is presently publishing, and already has six full volumes released, this is shown as being composed of four. Hence, I deleted the number of listed volumes altogether.

Huh? Samura's main work is "Blade of the Immortal", which is pretty much as seinen as it gets, listed as such on here, Wikipedia, and everywhere else. Are you confusing him with someone else?

Anyways, regarding the manga being a doujinshi...does it matter if it its creator is an established author who penned it under his actual name? I can certainly understand not wanting to include redundant riff-raff from talentless losers, but I don't think this qualifies as such.

Nope, doesn't matter. I have plenty of doujinshi by very prominent artists (CLAMP, Kouga Yun, etc) but since they didn't create the original property, it breaks our rule of acceptable doujinshi submissions. He's not the Darkstalkers creator.

From the first post of this thread:
Aarana said:

We accept original Doujin, meaning it has to be by the original author or an origional story. If its a Doujin based on another manga but not the same author, we will not accept it.

I don't know what you tried to link, but we allow doujinshi by original creators (meaning their own IP published outside their regular channels). There's also leftovers from before and most of us find more important things to spend our mod time on than witchhunting. However, we won't ignore doujinshi that break the rules when brought to our attention.

Case in point, I found Beatnik's chapter edit submission in a sea of submitted changes, so that is fixed.

Done, but let me stress this is not the place for chapter edits. Submit them for the queue. I see two from you, with the correct one (21 chap) having only been in the queue 24-48 hours. We couldn't do any useful mod work during MAL's sickness last/this week, so we need people to be patient as we work through the backlog.

Added comedy, but not changing the shoujo genre. MU perpetuates that Zero-Sum is josei and it's not. Pretty much any other source agrees that it's not. For more info about many magazines, http://comipedia.com/ is a good site in particular.

How do you add magazines in the database? I'm not sure if "Studio Voice" is already added, which is the same magazine that published the mentioned manga above.

Did the date edits. You can do those yourself by clicking edit manga information.

To add magazines, just ask in this thread.

Studio Voice? As in.. this I guess? http://www.studiovoice.jp/ It looks more like a general culture/fashion/media magazine and I think we're only interested in adding magazines that are mostly concerned with anime/manga. A little more googling shows that it's being discontinued as well, so my first reaction is there is no need to add it to the database (we don't have every single magazine), but maybe another mod disagrees. If there were more manga entries from it, sure, but I can't really find any.

Yes, that's correct. If you say that there's no need to add Studio Voice in the database, that's fine since there's barely any manga entries like you said. Thanks for looking this issue though. :)

I still think we should add it. It's information that could be relevant, and it wouldn't be the first non-manga magazine with only one asociatation in the database. (Zipper is listed to only have serialized Paradise Kiss at the moment.)

Well, maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that ZeroSum includes both - josei and shoujo manga. I'm also fan of Saiyuki and Loveless, both of them don't avoid talking about stuff like sex (even though it's not "shown"), showing violence and more serious themes than in shoujo, same in Hatenkou Yuugi. But mangas like 07 ghost are of course shoujo, maybe that's why there's tendency to categorize Zero-Sum as shoujo magazine, but for me it's just for fantasy titles, doesn't matter wheter it's shoujo or josei.
My question is just out of curiosity, but... does the "main theme" (shounen, shoujo, etc) of the magazine always typify the genre of the manga? Eg. Chi's Sweet Home - just because it's from seinen magazine it means that it has to be seinen, even though it looks like typical kodomo title?

Zero-Sum is shoujo. Their demographic ranges from middle to high school girls. So to answer that question, we rely on demographic, not theme, to determine shoujo/josei tags. If you picked up Zero-Sum, you'd notice a LOT of furigana too, which is your first clue (and I love that part of it). And yeah, a lot of them are fantasy themed. It's basically a fantasy shoujo magazine.

There are works that don't seem to fit into a magazine's target demographic, but I'd have to actually read Chi's Sweet Home to make a good comment on it in particular. I just know seinen ranges a lot, from ultraviolent stuff to cuter stuff (like Chi's Sweet Home). But the target audience of the magazine it is printed in is still the same--older males.

Sex is not an uncommon theme in magazines for younger girls in Japan. There was some uproar about it a year ago or so about them including graphic stuff and sex tips. That is purely from vague memory, so take with a grain a salt. :-p But they are not nearly as conservative as some Western media.

---

I added Studio Voice as well. It only points to one thing though. ^_^;; If there's another database entry from it, please let us know.

Status should be completed.

Genre should not be Shounen. There are some explicit sex scenes in some of the later volumes. The magazine it is serialized in doesn't seem like a shounen magazine either (with Battle Royal, Love Junkies, etc.). In the Chinese version, there is an explicit 18+ warning label on the manga (not sure about the original, never found it).

Och, I forgot about one more question ^^"
Yami no Matsuei has 11 volumes + few chapters, but without volume 12. I've read that mangaka has dropped this manga and won't complete it (since 2003), so it's neither publishing, nor completed. For me the best solution would be creating a status "dropped" (it's not the first time that mangaka won't complete her/his manga, I think the same goes to Youka Nitta's mangas because of her alleged guilty of plagiarism) but I appreciate the fact that it would be problematic.
The other solution - to give status "completed" with 11 volumes, even though it's not quite true ^^"

Would someone please make the following additions (german titles go into Synonyms):

Netemo Sametemo - german title: Süßes Gift 03 - Ob ich schlafe oder wach bin
Shinnyuu Kinshi no koi - japanese title: 進入禁止の恋

I noticed that the Serialization Title for example for http://myanimelist.net/manga/15344/Do_M_Wanko_no_Otona_Keikaku_-_Zokusei_S_to_M is given as June Comics Piasu Series which appears to be a literal transcription from the katakana, but what is meant is probably "Pierce". Well, I'll leave that to you if you want to change it or if you prefer it the way it is. Who knows maybe you get bothered with this on a weekly basis.
