Cried so much. The story was so-so in this one, but man were there so many touching scenes.

I have to be honest, I didn't really care about this one. It's one of the weakest Mushishi episodes for me. Which means it still had a lot of strengths, mostly in scenes like the family reunion, the ending sequence, the OST (I swear, I could play any Mushishi episode with my eyes closed & still be thoroughly entertained) & visually (the effects were great, the well, Ginko's appearance/disappearance & when Izumi got out). The episode started off on the wrong foot for me almost immediately, having Izumi narrate exposition to herself in thought. I know, this shouldn't be an issue but I just kept thinking, nobody would think this or think like this. I pretty much started off detached from the episode because of this. I'm probably the only one who had this problem, definitely the only one in the thread but I can't help it.

However, that's still minor & it's far from my biggest reason. The past few episodes of Mushishi have all, in their own way, tackled similar subject matter. Pretty much the loss of a loved one, with mushi being used as building blocks to tell the story. To an extent, even episode 3 dealt with it but there's was far more going on there. Oh & much like the previous 2, the father is wrong on some level. This is the most minor, as he's not responsible for the conflict like he was in 4 & semi-was in 5 but instead strangely playing skeptic (as well as momentarily blaming Mizuho for Izumi's disappearance [it's a one & done line, so no biggie]). Much like 4, I didn't really find that cast as likable though I do prefer this one to Yura & crew. Perhaps after dealing with similar subject matter in a row, this one feels a little empty to me, at least thematically & emotionally. But I don't want to harp on it too much or sound like I think Mushishi pull out a real stinker or anything. I've said this before being one of the "weakest" episodes of Mushishi does not equal to be weak but this is one I probably want revisit as much.

Yet again a very beautiful world.
Ginko being able to bring back Izumi from the "other" side and her calling for her parents and sister was touching.
The muffled sound on the other side was a nice touch.

Interesting heading. I thought it was going to have more relation to the sky or the space but still a nice watch nonetheless.

The transition from the other side to the real world was pretty cool. The mushi "stars" floating out of the bamboo at the end looked great as well.

Damn, I cried at the reunion. That whole scene was really well done--the moon becoming the well opening, the voices echoing, the transition into the real world.

This is one of my favorite episodes in Mushishi entire series. Being trapped in the well for a long time is not a joke, I am happy when Ginko tried to save Izumi from darkness. To her father, protect your child instead not taking care of them. It's kind of rare for Mushishi episodic stories to have a happy ending. I will rate it 5/5.

I love it when mushishi episodes deal with space and time, and this episode was no exception. It's not about the meaning, or even the narrative, it's how it makes you feel, and every single episode of Mushishi gives you a certain feeling, while never letting go that warm and mysterious atmosphere of the series, no matter if the episode is sad, happy or just dark.

And the LIGHTS!! The art direction in this episode was top notch, again...

Smart of the dad to fill in the well, it was just a matter of time before she fell in again. Very good episode, some absolutely fantastic imagery in this one. Another happy ending too, somehow I get the feeling they're preparing us for some darker endings in the last half of the series.

A pretty beautiful episode yet again. Trapped in an alternate version of their world, that's rather interesting. The ending was very beautiful.

A rather mysterious episode in the narration, one remains a little bit confused at first, but I really appreciated the fact that afterwards, everything is explained in a proper manner and one does not remain with a bitter taste in the mouth. As for the rest of the series, even here the story takes less sentimentally on the viewer and more on the side concerning the supernatural, but the poignant moments are not lacking and are beautiful to live, the finish is sweet and bitter at the same time.

Phenomenal episode. The structure, the sound design, the execution. It's so impressive how much Mushishi still has up it's sleeve this late into the series
