I thought at first we'd see Leone vs Run, but nope!
Instead we have Leone and Run help civilians, which is alright.

We have the emperor in Shikoutazer, the most cliche mech Teigu ever.
But we need both Tatsumi and Wave to stop him. But they couldn't.
So Wave's Grand Chariot cooled down, while Tatsumi's Incursio evolved.
Nooo, Tatsumi! (T_T) You should have let the civilians die.

Seems like Akame will be left to battle Esdeath. Her trump card better be useful.
The thing is, if Akame dies, who the heck will kill the Minister?
I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.

Holy hell are you annoying. You praise the shitfest which is SAO II yet belittle this, which is having an anime original ending. And call those trolls who don't agree with you. You are definitely one the worst "priests" I've seen on this site. How about you shove your obnoxious opinions up your you know what? (I try to be gentle, mods)

So how about doing what MOST MANGA ADAPTATIONS ARE DOING - adapt till the certain point and then end the season.

SAO is doing that.
Fairy Tail has been doing that.
Countless other adaptations too.

There's no excuse for this bullshit.

I agree with you that this is the best solution – IF there are plans to continue adapting the source in the future or if the story is set up in a way that an open ending becomes an option.

The problem with AGK is that with its story there really is no way to have some kind of an open ending for the anime – they either succeed with the rebellion or they don't. And if White Fox had no plans for another season (or the anime didn't generate enough revenue to warrant another season from a financial viewpoint) I actually prefer the anime original ending to the alternatives.

I mean, we can still read the manga for the true ending and forget about the anime if it really sucked that bad (which it doesn't if you can get over the fact that it doesn't follow the manga all the way through).

This episode was really good, like I didn't think that it would have been on this level. I'm gonna go in depth this time too

1. Apart from Tatsumi (I'll get to him soon) I really loved what they did with Wave, the emperor and most of all Ran. The reason why I say this is because with the Emperor, we all knew that he was being used and he couldn't see it but once he entered the mech it became more than that. We saw his inner conflict with himself which makes sense because for a kid to be a ruler, a lot I'd expected of him and it's hard to follow 1000 years of greatness so the pressure from that got to him. But even then he still showed that he wasn't truly evil because he did realize that what he was doing was wrong and he even begged Tatsumi to stop fighting so that he couldn't hurt his people even more

In regards to Wave and Ran, they did exactly what I expected then to do in the manga, especially Ran because like I said, this is what the manga foreshadowed for his character before they messed up his character, so for me Anime Ran>>Manga Ran, the level of depth they gave him was great

2. The action was superb, all of the fights were awesome, Ran's abilities were showcased very well, Akame was badass, that Wave and Tatsumi teamup was great (I really want to see that happen in the manga) and the mech battle in general was actually decent.

3. Tatsumi.....I'd be lying if I said that everything that happened with him was bad. He stayed true to his ideals, he never backed down, his thoughts never wavered and that one scene where he remembered what Aniki said....That was amazing, everything from that point was amazing and I genuinely felt sad that he died but he went out swinging like a badass and WF in commend you for that

My only nitpick is that I wanted them to use the manga trams formation design but this one wasnt all that bad, I liked that he got wings tho.

This was the best original episode to date imo....Next episode is gonna suck, I don't want to see Esdese die lol

Damn... I actually somewhat agree with this... after watching it fully...
I'm glad that you took the time to read and understand what I said :)

Now it was the turn of the protagonist die, finally Tatsumi showed a great strength, although I think the evolution of incursio a little forced, but in the end as well as the Mine he died for weakness?
Wave finally did something to appear in the anime too, I would be even more disappointed if the anime was over and he had no participation
Esdeath was watching the whole time and did nothing to help Tatsumi, but now she will face Akame, well let's see how the anime ends, will be that only the heroine survives?
Badass it is Leone that had little participation but survived until now ..

Lol what depth?
Where should I begin....Hmmm

Manga Ran's character in the manga was reduced to Sasuke....Plain and simple, I shouldn't have to explain what this means

In the anime however, not only did they keep that very same backstory, but instead of him going all Saucegay on us he stayed in character. He was calm and collected, and one step ahead of the curve. He realized the bigger picture which is that the capital itself is what killed his students, hence why his plan was to take it down from the inside/watch it self destruct

But what made things even better was what he said to Leone, Tatsumi and Akame....Yes he agrees that the capital needs to change, but the way NR are going about it is not the way to go....Both he and Wave realized this. But what makes things even better her is that after bearing witness to what the Emperor did, he realized that he needed to act for the sake of the people which is what a true soldier/protector of the people would do

THAT is what was foreshadowed for his character in the manga before Takahiro took a shit on him for the sake of giving the even shittier, poorly and unnecessarily written characters known as Wild Hunt "relevance"

Well, Tatsumi broke his promise. I appreciate when a show has the balls to kill off some of the characters but, Jesus Christ, no one is safe.

Even though he was kind of a boring prude, I didn't really want Tatsumi to end up dead. Maybe some deus ex machina will bring him back- it wouldn't surprise me seeing how often the show pulls things out of nowhere.

Mechsuit battle was pretty sweet even though the godly city destroyer couldn't pierce a Power Ranger suit. Overall 3/5, do not know how to feel.

Storyline be damned, still doesn't change the fact that this episode was f*cking epic. The soundtrack, the team up, the power up, the fight, the gore, the voice acting... still not a chapter of AgK that has this much level of everything.

The wings were badass, but Tatsumi's armor looked better in the manga. Looks like Run will live, for which i'm glad, he's an awesome character. Haha, Wave blushing was just priceless and the two ancient armors in action together was enjoyable. The emperor's a freaking idiot, but Onest's the one that really has to die. Still, even though that robot-like Imperial Arms wasn't what i'd call "cool", it was crushed very nicely.

Tatsumi saving the citizens by sacrificing himself with the last of his strength holding off a giant robot while blood oozes out of him like a fountain and honorably dies - one of the best things i've seen in 2014.

It's also extremely satisfying how the anime does not give a single damn about Tatsumi and Mine. Looks like it's time for Murasame's trump card next.

An i-couldn't-care-less-about-the-hate 5/5.

To all the very, very, very butthurt manga readers:

It was an ok episode. The whole thing where they kill a member of the main cast each episode is pretty tedious. And for people defending the anime, i don't understand how you can even portray this is as a good show/adaptation. Compared to others that came out this year it's mediocre at best. The animation for this episode was solid, the script and content was poor, which is a shame. It reminded me of the Soul Eater finale with the 'fist of courage' bullshit. In other words it's bad writing, plain and simple. Either way we'll see how well they execute the final fight next week. They usually animate Akame's sword fights well so it should at least be entertaining.

I agree. It's basically become like Aldnoah Zero now for me. Fun to watch, but horrible on paper.

Exactly. It may be an 'adaptation' but it's no excuse to treat your audience like idiots (when i say that i mean leaving obvious plot holes that aren't answered, and just plain old lazy writing) This is the sort of thing you expect in animes like Naruto. Compare this episode to any episode from an anime like Parasyte for example and the difference in quality is like night and day. Anyway just started reading the AgK manga from the part where it splits in the anime to see if it's any better and get a better understanding of what the manga readers are complaining about.

I really didn't expect Tatsumi to die.. I know it's anime original but still.. And in my opinion that was kinda lame way to die I mean character who got the most screen time on the show dies because he wanted to save like 10-20 people..

It was otherwise really good episode but not sure what to think about that end scene... Animation and everything looked great.

I have feeling that Akame is going to be the last night raid member alive..

Wow. That was a bit weird. At least Tatsumi didn't go giant robot himself.

And if they, now that they have killed him, let him stay dead..

And his girlfriends - well, the ones still alive, don't forget Mine - can fight over whats left of him. Wonder what the rest is doing - Wave, Run, Leone and Najenda.

Leone wanted to settle it, but Run appears to have no intention to keep on fighting. And Wave hardly has any reason to fight against Night Raid now.

Are they just watching? Would be weird. Well, Esdeath could probably instantly kill/freeze them, but would also be weird, given that she is mostly reasonable when it does not pertain either torture or Tatsumi. Heck, she wondered why the minister didn't admit defeat before, now they truly have no weapon left - except Esdeath herself.

Tatsume's evolution was pathetic. Different colour and wings? Meh. Very meh.

Him dying at the end? Wtf? I do not know if I am fine with it or not but it sure is surprising.. actually I am more surprised that I am surprised about characters dying. I would not be surprised if Akame, Leone and Esdeth would die while that poorly developed Wave dude would survive. Who cares what happens to Najenda? Not me.

Really boring fight compared to the epic last fight in TTGL and the end of the first arc in TTGL even.

What the fuck happend to Akame after that robot shit rose? And why did she not kill that fat greasy pig? He was so irritating and she let him live even though her mission WAS TO KILL HIM GOD DAMNIT!

Although the flaws, there are nice things like the .. uhm.. eh.. I guess "truce" or whatever you want to call, between Wave and Tatsume. I liked that they shared the same goal.

I agree with these guys. So the anime isn't the same as the manga, what does it matter?

I think it's pretty awesome that the directors had the courage to kill off the main character. I'm sure it pisses other people off how some animes make the main character some invincible super beast.

Some of the deaths in this anime were some complete bull shit (ie. Sheele and Chelsea) but I think the greatness of the rest of the anime overlooks those things.

I am also glad that I'm not reading the manga and am able to enjoy the anime adaptation. And if Tatsumi is somehow revived in the end then I will be pretty upset with the directors.

Run was kinda stupid this week. What he did in the first half of this week's episode made little sense. He knew the Empire was corrupt and that at this point is also a sinking boat so why still stand by it? Him not wanting to achieve change through violence might have made sense before, but a huge revolution is going on right now anyway, so why not change side with the people instead of Onest? Sure the revolution might be violent, but isn't it worse to continue letting an Empire that would turn a blind eye to the murder of children for the vague opportunity to "change it from the inside"? He did faceturn later on, but that was because the Capital was being blown the hell up and he'd have to be completely insane not to think Onest needs to go.

Cydoula said:

Because it's worse? I do agree with the idea with the idea that anime shouldn't always be obliged to follow their manga, but that doesn't mean fans can't be disappointed if they don't like how it's being done. Of course there will always be those who can't levy a complaint without simply saying "manga this" or "manga that", to which I say meh.
