Second seasons gets very slow devlopment of events, which is pretty annoying. Yet another episode that in half didn't showed anything really interesing and was pretty boring.

Though second part is actually interesing. There are multiple ways of making consequences of scythe event: Maybe Crusty dies permamentally? Or will he turn into madman (Since in episode was told that game AFFECTS personality of players)?
I bet he is dead. The girl who was trying to push Crusty got smelt hand - and Crusty probably whole body. That might cause panic within players, so killing Crusty is reasonable.

I can't wait for next episode. Hope there will be more action.

Why did they give Akatsuki such a hard time?

Akatsuki didn't even know about the murders until she overheard Lenessia, and she told her she should talk to the round table. Shortly after, Akatsuki joined Souji, who knew about it way longer and who was already fighting.

She died, respawned, and gets lectured about "keeping it a secret" etc. ??

Despite being one of only two high level members and aswell as being co-founder of Log Horizon, and being specifically asked by Shiroe to stand behind, W.W.D. decided to leave her out of the loop - and from what we know, Nyanta, too.

And when she finds out by accident and tries to figure out whats really going on, she dies and gets lectured by D.D.D. and C.M.A, who were waiting for her together with Nazuna from W.W.B.

Wat? Shouldn't they complain to Nazuna or Souji that W.W.B left *them* out of the loop, and thank Akatsuki that she - even when it was accidently and rather indirect - brought it to their attention, so the round table can do something about it?

Though at this point nothing indicates that they want to inform the other guilds, so they want to keep it a secret too. Wouldn't Grandeur, Rodrick or Honesty be right to say "you should have talked to us" when they inevitably find out?

And after Souji - who knows the most about whats happening right now, except maybe for Lenessia - already told the others to show Akatsuki their teachings, they still practically make her beg for help?

Did they fall in love with Souji like most other girls or what? Shiroe should teach them a lesson when he comes back. Not only was it unfair against Akatsuki, it certainly doesn't help the overall cause when people have to think twice or more often about what they do, given that *they* might catch flak for someone else failures.

Like, if Akatsuki didn't go and look, it would simply have ended with everyone from W.W.B. including Souji dying. They wouldn't have learned anything, except that they can't beat the murderer, and the rest of the round table would still be out of loop. Lenessia would probably still hesistate to tell the adventures, and only Akatsuki would be better off in a way, without that lecture. Though i don't think she would be happy with the situation.

Phew, long rant about a overall rather small issue, but the thing is: Stuff like this happens for real all the time, and people don't realize it.

So, what have we learned...
1. Avoid crossplaying.
2. Pay attention to the flavour text. We already knew there was -some- truth to it when Regan appeared.

Aside: I suspect post #24 needs a spoiler tag.

No that happened to Crusty's whole body, The one that lost her arm was the scythes owner in his guild.

Great episode. I think that Crusty got sucked into the weapon and became one with the weapon. The ending song sure ruined the tense atmosphere.

Just as William said, you will only understand when you experienced death once. Shiroe not trusting his new teammates; Akatsuki acting alone.

Nisx said:
Akatsuki fantasies about Shiroe every episode,
this time of there life together on the real world.

can u really lose your hand on that game?
just kill your avatar then get back perfectly.

I never could take the fights on this anime seriously,
why they so scare of dying/losing when they cant actully die
and they will just back second after.
31 episodes on this show already and not a word about why
they actully in the game, they just keep play it like there life
depend on it.

Despite being in the fantasy world, the people still retain their humanity. Just think about this, would you stab yourself with a knife despite knowing that you won't die in real life but at a result, losing part of your memories?

When living in the fantasy world is better as compared to real life, would you want to live there forever?
the more pertinent question is whether she will even receive her arm back upon death, we know changes are massively occurring so that may be a change (as well as possible vulnerability / death, though I doubt crusty will die) as characters do not lose their levels upon death, it is possible that certain ailments, including loss of limbs, remain permanent. (though I doubt it) either way, shit got real

What's this? Character development for Akatsuki? Separation from Shiroe that allows her to become more than a one-dimensional character? Shocking!

In other news, I really enjoyed the look at the real world version of Akatsuki (she's prettier that way, I think), and it's interesting to see how people playing the opposite sex are starting to be affected (though I doubt it'll be elaborated on much more if it's not relevant to the plot).

Actually, the murders were known and reported in their local newspaper (episode 5 opening scene), but were not treated seriously enough by most adventurers. What Souji did was to try and form a team to apprehend that murderer; he had absolutely no idea that the murderer was a Person of the Land who is functionally invincible, and that was what Akatsuki found out. That was the secret Henrietta et al mentioned, not the murders themselves.

Say whaaa...?

So many questions to ask, not enough time for answers.

Why did Akatsuki meet up with Shiro on the re-gen plain, but not anyone else? Does this mean the entire episode was all in her own subconsciousness? I mean if Adventurers are dying left and right, and even Naotsugu was dead during that time as well, then why did she only see Shiro? Then when she decided to return, they snipped their hair and some memory bytes flew away or something right? Did they ever explain what exactly they lost in order to revive? Was it some form of emotion, or memories, or real-world skills, what exactly was it?

Also, whats the deal with not asking for other people's help about the murderer incident? I mean, she wasn't kept in the loop in the first place right? She wasn't even part of the safty corps to protect the streets or anything. They were still giving her a hard time over not sharing info? What exactly was it?

Then with Crusty, what the heck happened there? High grade weapons started acting up against their own owners? Why???? Did Crusty get zapped to another dimension? Is he gonna become the antagonist or something? Does this mean that girls hand is gonna turn all evil and become "It" too?

Akatsuki mentioned that she has a strong desire to see Shiroe before she died. That's how she's able to meet him there and only him. Cliche, but yeah.

Fragment of memories offered by the dead players in order to return to the living. Shiroe confirmed it. You should re-watch it.

Lenessia and Akatsuki hid the fact that the murderer is actually a Kunie clan lander who stole the royal guard's armor. The armor gave him the ability to transport anywhere around the city. The reason why no royal guard appeared to stop a fight is simply because "one" is already "dispatched". Instead of sharing the info about this with everyone, Akatsuki tried to deal it alone. Also, Souji had no idea that the murderer is actually a lander wearing royal guard's armor. Had he known, he would have been more careful. Which is why he gave up later on. The boy has no desire to permanently "kill" a lander.

Don't like, then drop. No need to bitch about it. I personally enjoy all the focus on Akatsuki, since she was pretty much a doll in Shiroe's possession in the first season.

As it turns out, I'm loving this season more than the last. Definitely better action and characters. Lack of Shiroe is kinda disappointing, but so much questions and so much promise! Hope they'll tie all these loose threads by the end.

Likewise, don't be a bitch simply because someone likes the character you loathe so much and enjoys the current storyline better than the raid you love to heart. He's free to complain on your rant just as you're free to spout it.

Really didn't expect the gender normalization going on. Another reason to not play as a the other gender huh?

I thought the scythe was shaking because it was acting as a premonition or something. Did not expect Crusty to get obliterated...really don't think it's teleportation since the girl that was with her lost her hand.

I like to think it releases the tension... maybe. O.o It reminds you that this isn't the type of anime that permanently kills off its characters. (But to be fair, a few People of the Land were implied to have been killed by the Goblin invasion last season.) In keeping with the style of previous episodes, where they play that "bright" ED song alongside something really dark, they could have played the ED alongside the shot where Sansa* was shown to be missing her hand, but maybe that would have been too extreme. Aside, they managed to censor that dismemberment quite thoroughly behind the cloud of smoke. O.O

*Why was she called "Sansa" anyway? Isn't her name Takayama Misa? (http://myanimelist.net/character/96885/Misa_Takayama)

Also, to be fair... I guess if you're a hardcore enough gamer, you would get into the habit of completely ignoring the flavour text on anything, no matter what it said.

Sansa, or Major, is most likely a nickname they gave her based on an alternate reading of the kanji of her character name Misa (三佐). And she does looks like a military officer after all....

I doubt any of that is going to happen. I think the easiest way to understand what is happening to the weapons is this: spooky flavor text used to denote an item's terrible history is now becoming real, in effect cursing the items. The scythe "Disaster," for example, is now effectively a cursed item that occasionally glows menacingly and, if you are unlucky enough, erupts into a full-fledged disaster that does... something, to everyone in the area of effect.

The flipside is that if all flavor text is becoming real, a number of items are likely going to get buffed by the awesomeness of their backstory ("known for slaying giants," "fabled to cut through anything," etc) and others might just get cosmetic effects/phenomenon.

I also know that some objects don't grow back. Take Akatsuki's outfit. If it were just a game and she died it would be destroyed with her, then brought back in one piece. The episode ends with her still missing a piece of her shirt and pants. Therefore, if we can assume she was sliced by magic, and Sensa's weapon has a newly awaken magical property...
The world is expanding and the game is becoming more real by the day.
What we have is a class A example of shit hitting the fan. This is not a game any more.

Far more in fact, if you were attuned to Japanese culture.
Time for a sociology lesson:
Japan and most Asian countries are high context cultures. High context assumes that you know what's going on without having to be told.
America, and many European countries are low context. Low context explains the situation to you to make sure you're on the same page.
In this case we can see the disconnect between the 2 sides.

Jarring, isn't it?
I go by many names, some call me Hoshimaru, others call me Jiro or Aosou-Kun.
I believe myself a force for good, a papercrafter by trade, and one who seeks love and beauty animesque.

Akatsuki and Shiroe have a good conversation.

at the land of the dead:
Shiroe: I died.
Akatsuki: You too my lord?

From what I remember, they actually do have a longer conversation than that. But they have to show Shiroe's side of the story before that can actually be shown.... or that was the entirety of it and I've just forgotten what I read in the novel.

Henrietta was right to question Akatsuki. She's been too dependent on Shiroe that she never tried to get close to the others around her. What Henrietta is trying to do is bring confidence and trust to Akatsuki, make her believe in herself and show her that she can also ask for help from others.

Looks like Princess Lenessia is now friends with the Adventurers. At first I disliked her because of how she just viewed the Adventurers as normal people rather than her friends. Now, it's different, she's being true to her feelings. I was a bit too early to comment on Lenessia before this episode.

So Crusty gets sucked into the weapon. And did the girls hand get burned off after she tried to save Crusty?
