I also can't see it, but probably is related to the anime series Initial D - the guy there learned to free race while delivering ramen or some other food for his father's restaurant. I don't know if the main chick would become a pro animator, but she certainly gained excellent driving skills while coordinating episodes production, ... on the road in-betweens :D

Not certain about the side joke with the guy from the G.I stuff she raced (reminded me more of Wangan Midnight to be honest), unless it's some nod that P.A Works' founder has worked in Production I.G and Tatsunoko.

I am going to keep watching because I found the premise of showing how do the anime studio(though most likely it won't be shown fully) and how hard can it be.

It was pretty nice.

Oh gosh this turns out to be quite interesting! And i love love the side characters who works in the studio, i have a feeling they're all based on real people from real life :P

I was almost lose all hope for PA works after Glasslip and RDG. Well Nagi no Asukara was awesome at first then it turns boring.
Their only good series that i've seen sp far was only Uchouten Kazoku.
I hope this one deliver til the very end

I was expecting more of a comedy, so I was a bit disappointed when I didn't ever laugh. However, it's a very interesting concept, and I really like the characters, so I'm not even upset about the lack of comedic moments!

He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.

- artwork is good, the females are easy to look at
- good premise to show (similar to how Bakuman showed off the manga industry)
- the high school->graduation->2.5 time skip was a bit... wonky
- all dem characters
- OP/ED; nothing special

so out of the 5 high school girls, 2 of them are working together at the same company? (Aoi and Emma)

MAL listed Imai, Midori as also being together with Aoi and Emma, though i didn't see her in this episode.

Given the name of the fictional studio, I'll assume that the story is set in Musashino, where Production I.G. and J.C. Staff are the leading studios today. Metaphorically speaking, she's racing against the big guys who probably take victory for granted.

Unless it's all a coincidence, the Musashino setting is fitting in that as a historic production hub, it has seen much revitalization (Tatsunoko, Gainax, and Artland having become much less relevant than they used to be) lately with several new studios entering the fray as main contractors. In this show, we have the studio taking on a production for the first time in seven years.

Thank you very much for re-uploading the "Initial Bako" video to Vimeo.

At first, we see them each revving up to 7000 rpm. When the light turns green,
both cars screech tires, smoking as they burn out. They jump high up into the
air when they go over a bump. They execute drifts around corners.

And then . . . we see a close-up of the speedometer showing that they are going
at just below 50 km/h (which is the same as 30 mph in the United States).

After all, we don't want anime fans to see illegal behavior and copy it. Drag
racing and drift racing are both okay as long as you stay below the speed limit!

That racing part was so out of place but enjoyable/fun.

So much drifting?

Alright episode I guess, not that interesting but not that boring either (already better than Glasslip).

If it makes you feel any better, people (usually key animators) actually die out of stress and overwork. Remember the woman w/ the huge breasts? It could be you. They shed tons of sweat, tears and blood for a profession they chose but the wage they receive isn't enough to sustain their daily needs. They work a lot but paid little, they do the most important part on a medium we follow but they don't get any recognition from us.

The messiah of Animu gods, Shirobako, has ascended down from our computer monitors to tell us the greatest message of all time: buy the blu-rays or no animu.

All hail Shirobako!

As with Glasslip, this show constantly makes me feel like something's wrong with my computer since it appears to be unable to playback video smoothly, until I try playing Gundam Unicorn and I realize the reason it's so juddery is just because PA works doesn't know how to animate and my computer is actually fine.

Loved it, especially the quick glance over their high school days. The face Aoi makes right after the little celebration had me in tears.

I'm not too worried about the huge cast of characters, since it is a 2-cour it should give me enough time to recognize most of them. But I don't really like it when an entire cast is introduced all at once, it makes it hard to understand when they're talking about someone - like when the guys are talking about Segawa-san.

But it looks promising. First anime of Fall season that I'm liking so far.

I love the feel of this show! WOW! It feels so real. I got a very stressful feeling as MC was running around town doing deliveries. Learning about how far ahead production need to be is awesome, and the personal impact that specific people make into a show is amazing.
This episode was a great first establishment of her daily life. I can't wait for things to get turned around over time. Since the company is doing a 1 cour show WITHIN the show, I hope we get to see how a company transitions from 1 production to another.

... also their anime looks better than some that are currently being produced for our real world, lol.

i love shows like this! first wave of shows like these were about manga production. now we finally getting more anime production shows. yess~! i just love these shows as they give me insight into how much work is put into an anime. it makes me appreciate shows like the new ubw. i cant even imagine how large of a team they need to acquire to pump out that fluid of an animation. one thing this show confirms is that studios outsource their work ALL the time. so sometimes a studio may come off inconsistent is not because they have bad artists or what not, but because they lack the budget to get more resources aka animators.
