I don't have any complain except the animation quality.

The battle scene is many times worse compared to episode 2
I dont think that its worse, really...

but even if it is, its still far above average.

Interesting episode. I expected that people know Death Guns outfit by now and recognize him...

This was a really good episode. I like the way Kirito swings his sword and the sound it makes. Death Gun sure was scary creeping up so close to Kirito like that.

Why does Kirito seem so surprised about the fact that someone know him from SAO game? That's weird.

Rather than suprised, i'd say he's wary about him.

I mean, who doesn't became wary about suspicious looking guy like that?

What, can't I likewise express what I thought? Nothing you have said has been critical or even possessed the smallest ounce of thought, so all I am doing is pointing it out to you.

By all means please criticize this show. I would kill for an original thought from people like you. But if all you can do is to say "writer is confusing reality with his virtual reality", or "there is too much fanservice", then basically you have nothing really to criticize, which in turn shows that both the author, but much rarer the adapters have "put effort" into this work.

Even bad writers (which this one is not) deserve respect. They at least can write. So if you are going to criticize all I ask is that you put some effort into it.

What's not valid about his criticism? I had the exact same thought watching that scene (my brain hurted), at least that sorta worked with SAO since it was a copy of their real body, but here it isn't.

I've read the SAO part of his books, he is a pretty awful writer tbh, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who's read a few dozen quality books to think he isn't...

Do people have to write a detailed essay when they criticize something? Just because his criticism is blatantly obvious doesn't mean it's any less valid.

Huh, in a show aimed at teenagers.....imagine that.....

So if that is what you think, question why are you watching it?

Surely you have better things to spend your time on than "childish pandering", I mean if you are going to get morally outraged by "fanservice" in that episode, don't you have some church service to attend?

Fanservice can be amusing at times, but when the author is just pulling it out even when it doesn't belong or makes little sense in the context of the situation (like say all of HOTD), then it just comes across as lazy entertainment.

I don't know man. All fanservice are pointless. They're just there for the heck of it. For fanservice of course.

Kirito is as OP as always, and he already meets Death Gun? Surely he must suspect such a darth vader type shady looking guy?

Kyaaa, I've forgotten how sexy Kirito is because of how cute he looks in GGO! But the way he taunted Shinon this episode...ahh his cockiness is so hot. :)

The way Shinon ran towards the screen when she slapped Kirito totally reminded me of Asuna's similar scene in the first season. I'm not big on fanservice, but it was cute to see the usually stoic Shinon in that light.

Awesome battle, loved to see my Kirito-kun pwn someone after so long. Also, I didn't expect him to meet Death Gun so quickly. So he's one of those guys that killed players in SAO. Huh. The boot fits.

Can't wait for next week~ loving that energy sword!

Stupid yes, but needed for the fanservice. I'm just thankful they're not shoving Suguha's boobs in our faces anymore.

Anyway, Kirito took like maybe 5 mins to get used to the fighting. That first fight was pretty good, for a gun of that caliber Kirito was put to the test. At first I though Kirito was going up against a sniper player since it was giving off that vibe.

Death Gun gets more screen time this time as he encounters Kirito and questions him. Kirito sees his wrist and is shocked to see a Laughin Coffin guild player, a SAO survivor.

I just found it a bit unnecessary. If it was real life then yea it would make sense.

I do agree with Sinon, players taking out their weapons before the fight. It gives the opponent an advantage since they can counter their weapons.

Sinon is as cute(and deadly :D) as usual.

The changing room experience was exceptional haha~ I liked that Sinon's slap could still be seen after they left the changing room

The animation in this episode was amazing..I loved how the transition between the waiting room and the battlefield was done...also when Kirito sensed his opponent...awesome *o*

Finally Kirito meets Death Gun..it appears this guy is also a SAO survivor, furthermore,he was a member of tge PK guild,Laughing Coffin....this is so exciting
Death Gun's voice actor did a very good job...the oice fits his character perfectly ^-^

You know this episode reminds me the most of what annoyed me the most about SAO and that was the most major event concerning Laughing Coffin that happened in the Sword Art Online world with an organised group of multiple guilds in an all out fight to deal with the player killing guild Laughing Coffin was never covered in the novels at all and is only referred in a flashback.
We never get to see Laughing Coffin in all their glory at their peak but we have to see how Kirito is scared of him without ever really seeing the cause of it.

It just has always been one of my biggest annoyances when it came to the Sword Art Online that he skimmed over such an major event and wasted such an interesting part of the Aincrad setting by pretty much ignoring the player killing guild (except for a small part in the main Aincard story and some side stories) but continues to use them in later arcs. I always thought Aincrad was wasted with how short it was and so much potential was lost but i guess that is what Sword Art Online progressive is for.

Though GGO is my favourite arc since i only read the first Alicization Arc before i stopped with the novels (though i hear Alicization gets pretty good i guess?).

But he does this constantly. He did it in season 1 when Kirito didn't want to use NPC's as bait, because of "reasons". He did it in season 2 when he used Kirito to explain how your actions in game show how you really are (which would mean he thinks that video games do support violent behavior).

He hasn't given us any good reason on "Why" we should take this so called virtual world like its real life other than "just because". In season 1 it's mildly justified because they have the consequence of death, but that only applies with the aspect of fighting monsters.

I already gave you the .hack example though, should speak for itself. The reason no one comments on the kinds of clothing they wear in general (I'm sure Suguha would not wear lyfa's outfit in real life) is because the players are aware it's a game, so certain things need not to be taken so seriously. Yet they will oddly take other things seriously. For example combat in this game, is taken just as seriously as SAO, even though there is no fear of death. Which is rather jarring if you ask me.

You can express criticism back, but insults are not criticism. Keep it discussion level friend.

The animation was very well done, funny scenes but am I the only one who thinks how ridiculously over-powered Kirito is for someone who pretty much JUST got into the game?

Other than that, great episode - Darth Vader has come.

Well, he is the MC, and we wouldn't want him to get out in the first round or something. So plot armor.
But, his skills are also justified by having the same stats from ALO, and the fact that he has a sword, which is like his thing.

Usually something like that would bother me too, but I think there's enough justification this time around to let it go.

Nice.

Three small thoughts I'd like to mention

One thing... yeah, it's weird that they even need a changing room... xp... it's a freaking game. But oh well... haha

Another thing... did they have to make the proton sword sound almost exactly like a lighstsaber? -_-... I swear they just copied the sounds frm the Star Wars movies and stuck it in there for Kirito's proton sword xp...

Finally, not sure I understand why Sinon is so serious abt the games -_-... i understkod why she's playing (as some form of therapy to combat her fear of guns) but I didn't understand her smile when she said she wanted to beat all the strong ones... xp... I guess that'll be explained later? Is there some personal goal of hers that explains that strong motivation to win, and actually be the strongest? Xp not sure...

Nothing much else to say. The series is going very strong. I really like the pacing, and I'm gaining a really nice feel for this GGO world bcos they're taking their time (unlike Tokyo Ghoul...). I feel I'm understanding this world without any need to read the LNs, whih is a great sign :)

I see Death Gun is frm Laughing Coffin... interesting... kinda makes sense in some way xp... though it makes me wonder what he'll do next. Surely leaving Kirito alive after that will be risky... I'm really curious abt how Death Gun works now... is there actually some elaborate planning to be done beforehand, but Death Gun just pretends his gun is special? Or does his gun really kill players?
The most annoying thing about some anime is that they don't know when they've died...

Yeah they will, but the pieces have already been shown.
Basically what Shion is traumatized isn't a fear of guns, but what she did with the gun and how everyone reacted to her. Guns, for all intents, only serve as a trigger, though they are not the only trigger. This was shown with how her classmates bullied her. This will definitely get explained more, so I will stop here.

The point about her defeating "strong ones" I am not sure does specifically get explained (I think it does), but it is pretty basic psychology. To Shion, as a child, her assailant would appear as "the strong one". Even though she killed him, he effectively reached out from beyond the grave to enact his revenge on her life (this ties into the above). So for Shion killing the "strong ones" in the game helps her to defeat the "strong one" who is the true source of her trauma and is still haunting her.
Spiegel is ghey.
The art keeps changing here and there, it isn't so consistent.

This can't be adapted into 24 episodes. Just finished this arc in the light novel and man.. If they did, they'd have to drag it out, A LOT. I miss the fantasy side to this even though they were poorly executed in the first season.

3/5 - Wasn't too bad but wasn't too great. Comparing this to other summer series that is.
