And actually he never wanted to avenge his father in the first place, he wanted to become stronger than Goku because he beat him, and he wanted to rule the world and be evil or w/e, with the latter motive being discarded because of his character development in the Sayian Saga. It's much deeper than that. That sounds just awful, I'm so glad that never happened. His character development wasn't really that unique or more unique than Vegeta's, practically the same concept, just different execution to them, with Vegeta's taking more time and more focus and conflict, which is why I think Vegeta's is better. Sure why not. |

| I'm still surprised how many people tolerate, let alone like Asuka from Evangelion. I have a lot of major problems with that anime, but Asuka still stands out as one of the biggest ones. Never have I found an anime character we're supposed to root for so repulsive and unlikable. I don't care if she has a last minute tragic back story, the fact is that unlike most likable troubled characters, she is a bitch 100 percent of the time and rarely if ever shows signs of growth or compassion. |

I had a friend who's mother was a drug addict, and who's father and sister passed away from illness. He was more or less abandoned and left to stay with his grandparents. But you know what? He still showed signs of being a decent human being, and was not a constant asshole to everyone 24/7. Aside from one brief scene I can remember, Asuka didn't act like a realistic human being, she acted like a tsundere lovers wet dream. She didn't show signs of being anything other than a one note stereotype. She didn't have to be likable, but a good character has more than one side to their personality. |
