Sakubo777 said: Uh... anyone got a clue how did Tatsuya manage to use his magic during the cast-jamming?
This will probably be explained later but if you are curious then open the spoiler.
Cast Jamming is a Non-Systematic Magic that interferes with the phenomenon-altering mechanism of Eidos. Cast Jamming scatters vast amounts of meaningless Psion waves, and as such it is a technique that prevents rituals from affecting Eidos. So it will be able to effect systematic magic that most magicians use.
Tatsuya uses non-systematic magic which doesn't try to affect the eidos so cast jamming doesn't have any effect on his spell. Other people can use non-systematic and outer-systematic magic too so he isn't the only one.
This show is getting on my nerves. The personality of the characters is so bland and predictable. Tatsuya's cool tough guy mono-tone voice got old before Hei in darker than black used it. And not to mention Miyuki's cringe-worthy annoying voice ... I can't even count how many times she said "oni-sama" in this episode! Makes me look away from the screen in embarassment.

Your right about cast jamming, but if i remembered correctly tatsuya's decomposition is not considered non-systematic magic or part of the four great systems and eight major types of magic and neither is it part of the three exceptions. Hence since cast jamming affects magic from the four great systems and eight major types, tatsuya's decomposition which is not part of that system would not be affected. I dont think the LN has even classified what decomposition comes under lol

Well that's true, decomposition hasn't been classified yet. But Gram Demolition is a non-systematic type that works under cast jamming. So i was kind of under the assumption that Decomposition would fall under that category too. It's his unique magic but it should fall under some category. Cast jamming wouldn't effect the 3 exceptions if i am not mistaken.

yeap gram demolition is indeed non-systematic and works against cast jamming. My opinion is since non-systematic type magic is about controlling the psions itself rather than altering the eidos, decomposition which is direct interference to structural information does not really comes under the definition of non-systematic magic. At my guess decomposition may be a category by itself

I also agree with this notion. I've read again the definition of Four Great System and Eight Major Type, and nothing come close with Decomposition. I guess it has some similarities with Converse and Disperse Type Magic, but Decomposition still doesn't fall into that categories.
And I think it hasn't been categorized because so far only Tatsuya can use this magic. Although it's been stated numerous times that Decomposition is an A-type magic, so it's actually known to Magic world and someone must have used it before, even though why it's not being categorized would still be a mystery.

Mist Dispersion definitely don't fall within 4 Great Systems and 8 Major Types. I was thinking non-systematic system would be a better fit for it's category but i think you are right and Decomposition can be a category by itself, it may even be the 4th exception.
But i think Tatsuya is the only one that can use Decomposition as it is his innate magic. It's rating is either mentioned by Tatsuya or the members of 101. rather than being known, it's rated for it's destructive power and only known to Yotsuba and 101 members.
George mistakenly thought it was "Molecular Divider" in Yokohoma arc which was completely off the mark. I am also in confusion about how he developed Elemental Sight......i know how it works but the author hasn't yet revealed how Tatsuya got this ability.
nop never said how he got elemental sight but that ability is SOOOOO cool in the anime the way its visiualized. Not sure if elemental sight has to do with this ability to read the edios i think thats what allows him elemental sight.

His ability to read the eidos is known as Elemental Sight which is kind of the pillar of his other abilities. Yeah it's pretty nicely shown in the anime.

It is a very impressive skill, because that's not his innate ability, so you could say he trained and developed it by his own. I would also say it was partially taught by Yakumo.
I think basically every Magician has the ability to read the Eidos, but the range is limited. However if you train it like Tatsuya, they might also get that ability.
Why you guy keep using spoiler tag for elemental sight o.o? its kinda shown in the anime quiet a bit XD
He has the ability to read the edios much more than other magician due to his speical ability so I think elemental sight come form that. Not sure if its a thing only he can do or its just really hard to do.
Finally this Enrollment arc is over. That was dragging on FOREVER.
Almost missed that bit at the end, after the ED. Hate it when shows do that.
These past few episodes seemed pretty rushed, I hope that the story will really pick up in this next arc.
Also, I heard that the Light Novel series was REALLY good, so I'm hoping for a Kill la Kill-esque plot twist that turns the whole series on its head. But until then, this show is just above OK for me.
The only reason I'm still watching this is because it supposedly gets "Epic as shit". I'm hoping it does, but who knows. Same thing happened with Medaka Box, I kept watching it because its fans made out that it gets really good, and it ended up being as crappy as ever.

Yeah i also think the same. But the author should have given us something or some hints about how he trained it. ES can be called the foundation to his other abilities so it's pretty important. In Mahoukaverse, everything is more or less explained by the author. For example, i think the latest volume says that Ayaka helped Tatsuya develop MD/GD(i forgot which one exactly). I get a feeling that there is more to ES than he letting on and it could become important later(maybe i am reading too much into it).

Well i keep using spoiler tags because Tatsuya's abilities hasn't been given a name yet in the anime or did i miss that somehow? Tatsuya's ability is on a whole different level than what normal magicians ca do. Anyways looking forward to the 9SC, hope they don't rush it too much.

correct me if I'm wrong did u mean Ayako one of the kuroba twins or is Ayaka a new character in the latest vol of the LN lol o.o

Sorry Ayako of the Kuroba twins, it was a typing mistake on my my part.
Can we make up a game to count all the times Miyuki says, "Onii-sama!" throughout the episode? I thank the translators at Baka-Tsuki for omitting all that...unless Madhouse is intentionally adding it all in...
Tatsuya cracked a joke with Eirika. Holy shit.
A little manservice shown with introducing Masaki rather early. And George...looks and sounds WAAAAY different than what I imagined... He's got the appearance of a pansy.
RexZShadow said: Honestly don't see the big fuse over Masaki and George
yes Masaki puts up a fight but only coz Tatsuya is so restricted in his power, in term of real fight its not until Lina does Tatsuya get a challenge
Yeah but Masaki is the first opponent that was shown to give some good fights to Tatsuya in the story whether he was handicapped or not. I for one, would like to see a real, long fight animated in the anime instead of a short time slaughter we've been getting so far... So, Masaki's fight is the one thing I'm looking forward to until Yokohama which is animated near the end of the season.

true true I really hope they drag out the each competition can get some really cool stuff out of them.
That ending... was way too confusing :P
With that blood everywhere, where did it came from?
Whelp, I didn't expected to see an arm flying in that show x)
I don't know, it looked like they were trying too much to not put ''gore'' and suddenly, dude get his arm ripped off.
I don't remember who was that sword guy, is he the guy who attacked Mibu first?
Also, there is that woman we saw mid-episode... Too much mystery, I would like if they would have gave a bit more information :/

Its his magic, his family is famous for the magic rupture that basically make your blood boil and you explode.... thats where all the blood come from
I figured it was something like that however
Still think the animation sucks. I wanted to know where the blood actually came from. Was it from humans, was it from animals. Having it in floating balls would have said one thing about this world, having actual remains left behind would have said something totally different about this world (i.e. you can butcher the plebs all you want, sort of like how the Samurai used to be able to test out a sword on anyone they wanted). Instead we get shown paintball and are for some reason suppose to assume that he is "kick ass". That is why I chalked it up to bad adapting.
O i didn't see that part =X I thought they just show some blood spatter =X have to see it first when I have time. But if its like what you say just a floating ball of blood it be dumb lol.
hmm.. i was worried that the complicated explanation of how Magic works would throw people off... but looks like it didn't :D (i'm looked at the poll votes)
i'm liking all the characters so far. them military children... so kewl. very good animation. this arc was lovely.
i think my favorite thing about this anime is the world. they explain the many ways to use magic in a way that it makes it seem pretty realistic. the only problem is that the magic is suppose to be natural but looks all digitized. i guess i could just chalk that up to those Magic adapters they use.

I am pretty sure that Suzaku, I mean Masaki, has the ability to shoot magical paint balls.
I jest of course, I just chalked it up to bad adapting yet again :-)

Mind telling me where the blood came from? Was it a human or an animal?
It wasn't blood, maybe some red paint or liquid. Or it could be from animal but that possibilty is very less.
Rupture is a Dispersal-Type Magic which evaporates all liquids within an object. In the case of living organisms, body fluids will evaporate and the body will explode with its red blood cells scattering outwards like a crimson flower blooming in the spring. All fuel will vaporize in internal combustion engines or fuel cells.
It can affect any type of liquid so it doesn't necessarily has to be blood. They probably used the practice scene to empathize his "Crimson Prince" title.
I think all of that "blood" was actually red paint from paintballs that were in the room. At 22:30, you can see some black clothes which were most likely those paintballs. The loud sound earlier also sounded like combusted paintballs. As everyone said, he can explode anything that contained liquid by evaporating them etc...
I don't think it's clearly said just what type of magic Decomposition is yet. Is there any part in the novel where it's clarified?
vol03chap04 said: He was using magic to purify the sweat and releasing it through the skin and clothes.
Tatsuya's intrinsic magic "Dissolution", in terms of categorization belongs to a derivative of Separation Magic. It was a combination of "Gather", "Disperse", "Absorb", and "Release", but to be honest, "Release" probably made up the highest percentage.
Thus, he was more adept at Release Systematic Magic.
Decomposition combines several processes from systematic magic.
Miyuki can't control her power very well because half of her power is used to supress Tatsuya's power so when she gets emotional it goes kinda out of control lol.
Also I think its later when they talk about the cardinal code, its implied and later Miyuki stats he already discover all the cardinal code and just discovering one of them is a free ticket to magic univeristy he doesn't even need to go to magic high school but because of myuki he does
The main reason he did not need to attend magic high school was more of his engineering skills. He was already the famed taurus silver at four leaves, and his step mom had made numerous attempts to recruit him for the company as a permanent employee.
Hmm I can't really judge if it was a good move but they have already decided to reveal Maya. Still seeing her animated is oh so sexy mmm.
And I think I also saw the reflection of her magic Night in her drink? Madhouse being such teasers.
halberdiers said: Hmm I can't really judge if it was a good move but they have already decided to reveal Maya. Still seeing her animated is oh so sexy mmm.
I think it's better to show her early on even for a bit instead if waiting for Vol 8 which most likely won't be in this season just to give more mystery vibe to the story and making her character more relevant to the story since she's pretty much involved in every volume past Vol 8.
That Night magic though, I'll bet anime-only viewers won't even suspect of anything in that scene and may just think of it for some light reflection :P

Yeah, that sort of is the problem. We really don't know. If they were only paint balls, then why was that scene supposed to be kick ass?
But to be honest what really annoyed me was that the animators wanted us to think that it was blood, screw that, if the guy is supposed to be a kick ass warrior show us. Don't give us a guy shooting paint balls, making an allusion to blood on his face, and then pretend he did something awesome. We just watched Leo cut somone's arm off, in comparison new guy sucks.
Some one said that he can cause blood to burst. Great, show us. It doesn't have to be bodies (though To Aru gave us that one episode) Have floating capsules that he can wipe out easily, show them bubble and burst as the guy gracefully spins around the room aiming his gun, establishing that this person is a bad ass who can put a hurt onto people, with some superior music playing in the background. Instead we got half assed paint ball. That is why I am blaming the adaptation, absolutely no suspension or build up going on.

show it on what that was just a training exercise to introduce his character and title that was all u wont even see him again properly until like episode 11 or 12 so what is the point in suspension or build up if u got that suspension and nothing happen for 4 episode and it was not leo who cut the guys arm off it was kirihara

Like I really care. I mean seriously, they are interchangeable. Another problem with this animation. All the characters shown in the animation outside of Erika are boring characters (and even she is a cliche, only interesting in comparison with the dull characters around her).
We are two months into this show, and now you are telling me that we have another month to go before Mr. Paint Ball will provide Tatsuya a challenge? It really makes me have to ask the fans, how the hell did you get through 3-4 novels of absolutely nothing in order to get to the "good parts". I have seen people talking about how you really need to get to volume 8 before it starts making any sense. I am all for patience, but there comes a time when it is no long patience but actually a form of self abuse.
A couple of studies have shown that people will rate a longer novel better than a shorter novel based solely on the fact that they finished the long novel and want to think there was some accomplishment in doing it. I am starting to get the feeling that the fans of this series are actually masochists. They have invested so much time and energy into this series that they HAVE to believe that it is good. The more volumes they read the more they have to believe. Maybe if I sat down and read the novels I would think otherwise, but
So, they introduced a character we probably won't see again for another month...... And you see nothing wrong with that....
i dont even find anything wrong with that because i did not expect him to appear at all actually since he did not appear until later in the arc and u people will be even more mad that he did not appear because he appear at the opening but dont appear at all for the entire arc because they made him look like a big deal

the name doesnt really matter to me actually but i was just pointing it out with no deep meaning behind it and u want to ask why we read it because that was not at all what we care for there are different interesting part in volume 3-4 he was just some guy to us unlike what the anime show him to be but he was just the first guy to damage tatsuya that was all too me anyway and u dont need to read to volume 8 that was just to reveal everything miyuki and tatsuya about their relationship and the only patience is volume 1 and 2 just like u saw it was very very bad wasnt it and i am not gonna say the next arc is gonna change your opinion because i am tire of people saying it is bad i wont deny that it wasnt super amazing but they did fine job at it

say that after u read it because did u think we didnt complain at all about this arc not being that good oh forgot to say this but really u call us masochists because u are the one taking more pain than us just from the comment u guys say about it was bad but we know what is gonna happen so we expected and some of us actually like the story but u guys just out right say it is very bad and still watch it while this is like torture to some of u people

For your spoiler part, wait until the Yokohoma arc......you will see the meaning of badass, not just one of them. You will get all the blood, bodycount and massacre that you are want to see. Anime watchers seems like too much blood-thirsty these days. There is thing about knowing to fight and pointless massacre.

Calling the fans masochists now are we? Read it first oh the superior one before making stupid assumptions. Besides aren't you guys the masochists here coming back to complain each episode like your life depended on it? Or what was the term........superiority complex right? "I can find fault in anime so i am a better anime watcher" type mentality is it?
Just to point something out, you are one who gave out more spoilers(without spoiler tags) that weren't even half-correct. You heard a few spoilers and mixed them up with your assumption. So why don't fix that problem of yours before complaining all the time. At least put correct spoilers if nothing else.
an okay episode, I guess ... the fighting scenes were not that bad, the enrollment part is finally over, the anime is very slow but I have a feeling i'll be getting better and better. I'm very curious about Tetsuya's secret, hope we won't be waiting too long to know about it T_T

They will probably reveal part of his secrets in another 2-3 episodes so you don't have to wait too long.
I'm glad this arc is closed now and we can move forward with the show. It's been average so far for me but I'm expecting it to pick up soon. As for Episode 7... why didn't I get my tech-trance during the fight scenes?!?! Honestly this soundtrack has been awesome so far!!
