0h, really? I thought that they just own MAL.
There is such thing as shit taste. Only idiots think that every "work of art" should have the same value.
Oil and nuclear are civilisation saviours. Deal with it.

Let me predict the future: I will not predict Kineta's THREE posts that are coming.

Kineta said: Sorry, the date was kinda off, uhh, it is coming next month
Kineta said: So, we finally got it, we will be definitely using BBCode next year

Are you even checking the thread? I kind of doubt you do because if you did then why couldn't you find all this updates:

Thanks for caring about MAL though, guys :)
Please expect an update on [img] bbcode in the next 24-48 hours.

Sorry guys, make that "within the week". Hope to have something concrete for everyone before Saturday.
Kineta said: In the end, we've decided to implement a whitelist. This means that, once the changes are pushed live, the domain the image you are trying to embed within the [img] tag must be on our list of approved hosts. This will also apply to profiles and club info sections, which up until now have still worked normally.
Users will be able to request their private websites to be added to the whitelist, but will need to meet specific requirements. This criteria was designed while considering an active user of the site who might be interested in using images hosted on their private webspace.
Users that do not meet this criteria will need to use standard hosting services. Thus, general-use image hosts can be requested by all users.
To note, the implementation of the whitelist is not necessarily for stopping gore posts; the real motivation is stopping the plishing attacks perpetuated by the hacker at the end of August.
The bad news: Unfortunately, I was notified this morning that the changes will likely not be pushed until next week. This is why I usually don't say anything until after changes are live.
The good news: We've decided to open the Whitelist Request Thread now anyway to try and facilitate a smoother transition. I don't want to make a general announcement about this yet because I think it will be confusing until the changes are actually live.
Kineta said: @Virtual_BS: The YT tag has nothing to do with the image vulnerability, you are correct. But as you can maybe see, we're enabling BBcode step by step as we ensure that there are no other vulnerabilities within them. color and url were re-enabled (profile was simply overlooked), and I suspect yt will come after the whitelist has been pushed and no problems are detected with it.
More bad news: I received word yesterday morning that there have been delays. I was not given any ETA on how long this has been delayed, but if it is not pushed today (being Friday) then it should be next week.
Again, this is why I usually don't say anything until changes are live. It's not that I want to keep everyone in the dark, but it's not nice to constantly be told "next week" either.

And Happy Thanksgiving to Crave, who was unable to push the whitelist this week due to holidays. Unfortunately, this means I get the job of telling you all once again: "next week".
Welcome to my world. Please don't shoot the messenger.

My news is... I have no news.
Late Friday evening, I was told that the ETA has now become unknown. However, as I would like to have a site-wide MAL Secret Santa event with the possibility of including forum signatures as a gift, I have appealed for a definitive "before Christmas" answer. I hope to hear a response to this by late Monday evening so that I may proceed with the Secret Santa festivities - in one way or another.
Shameless plug:
If you're interested in a potential site-wide Secret Santa event, I would love to hear your feedback to my posts in this thread :3

I really wish I had better news and even postponed the Secret Santa some... but yeah.
See you all in this thread next year~

So, you probably won't be hearing from me in this topic or seeing the tag back for another few weeks.
Sorry guys.

Probably will be announced as a Site Announcement yes... in hopefully another 3-4 weeks (as I just heard today).
Kineta said: Hi hi.
I'm posting again but I don't have any better news for you guys than I normally do. A few days ago, Xinil told me that the current ETA on the whitelist is early March.
So... I guess you'll hear something in a few weeks, be that me posting here again or an actual announcement thread.
Note again for anyone that doesn't know: I don't code. It's not MAL's staff or admins that have anything to do with this, it's Crave who is controlling when we're getting the whitelist.

I was notified yesterday that there are no ETAs, but things are looking good for the whitelist to be pushed within the next few weeks. So I really am hoping that we will see something this month.
If I quote-chained how many times I said "in the next few weeks", I wonder how long it would be.
@Ntad: Technically I did something of a similar level for a MALentine illustration *cough* It was amusing, though :D Why didn't you participate in MALentines?!

No, sadly I am not folliowing the 36 page long thread. But thank you for the quote. :)

She posted this about 2 weeks ago, so maybe this week we'll hit the lottery and finally get a whitelist. Or else just the same thing as every week

Speculations of any sort are totally unnecessary, really. There is 0% assurance or ground to stand on when it comes to such matters, so just leaving this thread and waiting for a new one titled "It's back!" to be created is the best way out, to be honest.
Like all of you, I hate the lack of the functional BBCode, but why the hell there is always someone complaining in this topic? No matter what you say it won't bring it earlier, why not just accept that it won't come any time soon.
Shimapan-chan said: It's like I've gotten completely used to the lack of BBCode on here lol

I fucking miss being able to post pics when I want
Yeah, I have 1.6k gifs and it suck to post them as url's... it just isn't the same and most of the time it just doesn't work
What the hell you want with 1.6k gifs? It's too much lel
Anyway, I can see any img atm without any BBC because CSS codes (*cough*Shishio-kun*cough*) and it's not that hard to apply to yourself if you want to. Better than wait for the return (but not in this century i believe) of BBC codes.

I got another request for an update on this but didn't want to give one on this day... Still, since I'm posting anyway, I will say *cough*probablyanother2-3weeks*cough*. On the bright side, the hiccup of anime entries all disappearing was indeed a sign that progress is being made... but also a sign that there is probably more delay with said progress.
No, I wouldn't joke about this on April Fools. I do value my life ;_;
