I liked the chapter, but it basically added new mysteries on top of a shitload of existing ones without answering anything. God I wished this manga was biweekly. On another note, it seems that this chapter makes the anime inconsistent as hell in terms of characterization (among other things), since here it's shown that Erwin and Nile were fellow trainees who are on respectful terms with one another, while the anime portrayed a more hostile relationship. I wonder how the anime team is going to reconcile that in the future.. That's quite a good point about the inconsistency between Erwin and Nile's relationship in the anime and their relationship in the manga. I didn't think about that. In the anime the relationship was portrayed as extremely hostile. Nile pointed a gun at Erwin's face and accused him of treason. I do wonder how that will be reconciled. Nile in this chapter was much less hostile to Erwin. It wasn't hostile in the sense that they hated each other - it was the same way as the manga. Nile was just doing his job and Erwin was getting in the way. |

The chapter overall was good, but still just pretty much set-up. Highlight for me was Eren's memory. That could mean so many things. This probably relates to the whole "thier memories" part of Eren's flashback about his dad. So, since Eren associated the girl with Historia, she's obviously part of the Reiss family. Now does that mean that there were/are Titan shifters within the family or is/was the girl the only one, since the Titan power can be stolen, like Ymir said. Did Eren get his coordinate and Titan powers from her? Alternetively, was Eren always related to her since she looks as much like Eren as she does Historia? So many freaking questions with that. The Titan experiments were cool, I guess - so Eren might not even possibly have the the "armour" ability? Also, obviously how much he can control the Titan depends on how well-off he is, the more exhausted he is, the weaker and harder to control his ability gets. That explains him punching Mikasa at Trost. Armin being treated like that was horrible, some peg it as unintentionally funny, but I don't. It was horrible and shown pretty well as horrible. What were unintentionally funny were the tests Hanji went through with Eren. But then it got serious when his face was freaking torn off to get him out of the Titan. The onemanga scan wasn't nearly as horrible as some of the stuff from previous months, so that was nice. |

In addition to what's already been said, it's pretty much common in anime for old friends to be hostile in each other later on in their life due to their current disposition. This is so true for most military/police types of anime wherein a character could point his gun to his old partner. |

good chapter as usual. I have always been fond of the theory that Eren has been adopted by his "father" and had in fact already done the titan transformation before the beginning of the story. Did he mean " I killed my father" or "I disappointed him"? |

keragamming said: Fiji said: Wow. It seems Eren has recalled "memories" and the girl looks like Carla, Eren's mom. I think that Grisha may have used Carla's blood in the titan formula since Carla might have the powers of the titan but doesn't know it? Or Grisha has the powers to transform that it needed the blood of a loved one (opposite sex) for the titan power to be transferred? Something like that lol. As this series progress, more and more questions appear than what is getting answered. Anyways, some truth about the Titan power is revealed... and Jean and with ARMIN this time dressed as Historia. Heck yeah. The person in the mirror doesn't look like Carla to me, here are my theories. 1. it's Eren reincarnation. It's possible. 2. it could also maybe his long lost sister/cousin? 3. It could be Eren real mother? Maybe Grisha and Carla fell in love, and Carla took Eren as her own? though Carla looks like Eren. This theory is the least likely though....... 4. Also by looking at the room behind her, She looks like she is part of a family of royalty. Eren maybe related to the reiss family or both family are very close. Well, we'll just have to wait and see..... All in all, the girl looks really similar to Eren, to not be related to him..... You know something, remember how Eren started crying for no reason at the start of the manga and said that Mikasa had grown her hair out? The anime implies that he was having prophetic dreams, a very common trope, but that was absent from the manga. I don't know why, but it makes me think that the reincarnation thing might be possible. (NO, I am not just projecting in the hopes of a happy ending with everyone reincarnated and living peacefully in the modern world!) No, but my guess is that Eren's mom was a runaway noble, or Eren has a long lost relative (most-likely a sister) who's a noble. The reason he's seeing things from her perspective is because they're related either way. Now that we've established that, what could Eren being a noble or closely related to one mean for the plot? |

Oookay, according Onemanga TL: First transformation expires in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Physical attributes: - 15 m class - his initial form; his last maximal/optimal form (?) - skinned, no changes detected; Abilities: - no hardening ability; - good comprehension; - follows instructions; - strong; - constructive, with bizarre attention to detail; - jaw structure obstructs producing speech; - as an alternative, can write on the ground; [1 hour after his TS, and upon being asked to write, he suddenly remembered his father]; - can walk out of his form by his own will. Overall: Conscious and in control of titan form. Second transformation (2 hours after the First): - visibly in the 13 m class; no other changes; Abilities: - no hardening ability; - no comprehension; - incapable of following commands; - rage, destructiveness; - visibly ran out of energy; - couldn't come out of the titan alone, on his own; - couldn't come out of the titan w/o assistance. Overall: Loses consciousness and control. Third transformation: - Under the 10 m class, incomplete transformation - bones sticking, flesh missing; - couldn't stand on his own; - fusion with the titan is visible and barely reversible; - couldn't revert back to human, his human form is affected by the fusion; - need to be pulled out of the titan with great effort. Overall: meh * only the first transformation elapsed to 1 h 30 min; the other apparently were short in duration; the third could hardly be counted as success; three transformations in ~ 3 hours or so. * at least 30 min of rest are needed between transformations. After the experiment: - no hardening ability; - the coordinator ability didn't kick in, yet might be connected to the memories of Grisha; - able to regenerate his human form; - slept/recovered for a whole day; - doesn't remember anything after the scribbles about his father; (anterograde amnesia); - remembers everything before the transformation (no retrograde amnesia). If the translation is done right, the scribbles "My father was ...", "By me ...", grieves for 30 min on the ground and crawls out of the titan's body by himself, could mean he ate or killed Grisha back in Wall Rose. (Had to write this down. As much as I am not fan of this theory, this is closest to what I thought when I read it). Levi: Uncertain whether to take his words for purely metaphoric - a fair reason to respect heichou's wish to be free, but how the air behind the walls is rotten and in 100 years it will dissolve the walls themselves is a very curious and passionate statement even for Levi. Christa peeking upon the evaporating titan Eren left behind. The Chick in the mirror: If Grisha was eaten by Eren, the memory could be his, not Eren's specifically. Grisha was a doctor. If the chick resembles Christa as Eren assumed, she might be a Reiss, and perhaps a former patient of Grisha's. It connects many dots here, although I don't insist I am right or anything like that (just pointing this out). All idiots believe in Erwin and for a good reason - apparently, he succeeded to inform them on the assault and gave instructions for the fake kidnap plan. Well, I don't know where Erwin went - Nile mentioned something about a court house, but this could be the Central MP or HQ in Sina, or that Imperial Gathering/Parliament or whatever the House of Lords resides in. The Cult uses different types of buildings, don't believe it's the Reiss mansion either. He will be making a scene going in there, won't he :P Hopefully, won't die in the process. |

Until we get the official transaltion every theory is possible. About the mysterious girl-at-the-mirror. She's not exactely in front of the mirror and she looks at someone (ore something) standing on her back-right in the same room. She looks frightened. Whom is she looking at? Why does she look so scared? Just an idea. She's a member of Reiss family. A killer has just entered in her room to kill her. Grisha gave Eren the power to transform on top of being a coordinate so his son would be able to defend himself! And we all know that the walls were made of titans, so what if the nobility had the coordinate the entire time and had been passing it down from generation to generation after the walls' creation (since the girl is clearly a noble) but Grisha (who was a doctor renowned enough for nobles to call upon him) stole it for some reason! |

After reading this chapter, there's one thing that got me wondering about Eren's titan form that nobody has seemed to talk about yet. It's confirmed that he has various forms, each form being more "titan-like" as he grows smaller, but what if he can do the opposite? I have a feeling that some time in the future, Eren will have the capability to transform into a larger, more powerful titan (possibly more human-like, as well) that could possibly give him the ability to harden, and more. |

You know, you are right about the translations - I am not done with the chapter until CR and MS release theirs. Truly everything needs to be verified b/w TL versions, which I'll add, leaving the older ones for comparison. Agree about the chick, too. The moment with the flashback should mark something important that happened to her and/or someone else in the room and has to be relevant to Eren's concern about Grisha. Because ..., I don't know, Eren is right to ask himself why his father surfaced during his transformation as titan. The goal of the experiments was Eren to perform the hardening ability. For comparison, when Eren lost his mind the second time he transformed in Trost, he pictured his whole family, but he didn't grieve, did he, hm. His family was around him, he was back at his home, and Armin barely managed to hit the nail with the "world outside", almost out of desperation. Perhaps in the next chapter Christa and Eren will hold some sort of important conversation and the quest to the basement is going to happen after some other events take place (?). I myself am not a fan of that eating theory, so I'll irresponsibly offer an alternative guess. What if Grisha was killed or kidnapped in front of Eren, while trying to protect him from killers, same or similar to those who killed Christa's mom in the previous chapter. |

Had to pay a visit to the forums after reading the latest chapter. Poor Armin, getting groped by some old dude. If it weren't for the fact that it was Armin being molested instead of Christa, I'm sure we'd all be a lot more disturbed. But the fact that the dude talks about his 'beauty' really raises questions about Armin's masculinity lol. Jean taking on the role of Eren was entertaining as well. Beyond that, the chapter was mostly a build up. Interesting to see how the residents of Trost are holding up (not too well I see). I'll be back for the next chapter. |

I dont know if I buy this idea of Eren transforming and eating/killing Grisha. If Eren had transformed in that moment, once Titan Eren presumably collapsed, there wouldve been smoke/steam palls INSIDE the walls and there wouldve been a mass panic and mention of Titans within Wall Rose or Trost or wherever the refugees lived. I mean sure, its easy enough to put "killed" or "eaten" there but doesnt that sentence sound a bit off? Wouldnt "I..." (killed/ate) "... my father" have come off better? The bit about "grieving" also leads one to think of death but couldnt it be just that Eren misses his father and/or mother? Who knows, maybe Titan Eren, with Eren inside and unconscious, is just a big ball of emotions? |

I can hear the LevixMikasa fangirls screaming in the background. Really, guys? =_= Another month of waiting. >_< Something about Eren's suddenly ripped body is bugging me. And I can't believe no one has pointed out yet. Remember, Eren was beginning to fuse with his titan and literally "turning" into it. You can easily tell by the mutation of his face, his teeth and no lips etc. His titan form is awfully muscular and Eren was transforming into it without the dramatic increase in height. After Eren was cut off and put into the cart. All that muscle disappears as he heals. Comparison below: notice the red arrow pointing at the extra muscle right beside his 6pack it's exacly the same as Eren's titan (circled in red) The third image shows Eren healing afterwards. Should be awfully obvious enough to see the difference. In fact that extra muscle circled in red would take years of body building and low body fat to make it visible. Unless you're a fucking titan of course. From i'm concerned, Eren has an average or slightly muscular physique his average looking biceps is enough to prove that Lmfao i'm making such a big deal. But i just cringe when all those fangirls all over tumblr (no offense) screams about it not knowing Eren is as flat as an airport runway. Poor Eren, even Mikasa has atleast 5kgs of extra muscle than him. It's all about the angle and the circumstances of his body. His face looks weird because half of it was attached to his titan body, fusing with it. In the other picture, the angle makes it hard to see but it is obvious that Eren carries a significant amount of muscle. Yes Mikasa did weigh more than him when they had just finished training, but a lot of time has passed since then and so has Eren's appearance (he is being drawn as more grown up recently, wider shoulders and more muscles, this is particularly apparent when he uses his coordinate ability for the first time) When he exited the Ttan form his body was straining and his muscles were going through a process we bodybuilders call the "pump". The muscle you pointed out is the serratus, all it requires is low bodyfat, not "years of bodybuilding". Eren being ripped makes a lot of sense, by all standards he should be Lower bodyfat than Mikasa, who is pretty ripped herself. (Eren is a top trainee so obviously in great shape, that and males generally carry less bodyfat than females). Cliffs - Eren being built like that is not so far fetched, especially when people resemble their titan forms (Bertholdt - tall..... Eren - ripped?). He has been training for 3 years to be the best he can be, he's not exactly going to be a stick or fat is he? |
