Any significant increase in sales between this and the previous volumes on their first week? I wonder if the anime announcement boosted it at all. Too bad Machine Doll didn't get any significant boost. |

Hard to compare at the moment - The last volume got 2 days of sales in week 1 (and 9 by week 2), whereas this one got 4. 11 days is fairly comparable to 9, though, so we should be able to compare when we get next week's data. |

^ What does Junketsu no Maria or KanColle have to do with Walkure Romanze ??? VN, when released is by definition completed (nobody is going to say LB! Refrain is not completed just because there is an EX coming after it), so anime adaptation of "completed VN" is nothing noteworthy, and manga adaptation of a VN/game can come and go in a flash, but anime adaptation of original manga that is finished is quite rare now. Not that it was common in the past, but I think it is getting rarer.. Mecasonic said: That's right. The thread title says it is the chart for Oct 7th to 13th sales, so doesn't matter if DxD v16 is on sale on the 19th or 20th, it will not be in this chart (which was from *last* Thursday) but even this week's chart, which is coming on Thursday, will only cover 14th to 20th. If DxD v16 is up on the coming weekly chart, then we can call it good news as it will just cover 1 or 2 days of sales. kuuderes_shadow said: Even then, it will only have been on sale for one or two days (it was released on the 20th or the 19th IIRC), so its sales numbers won't really be significative until the rankings for the week after are released.NeoAnkara said: Unless honto is giving the wrong sale date again (can't access amazon jp for some reason, so can't check), that wasn't on sale during the week covered by this thread, and the figures haven't been released yet for last week.Anyway do anyone know how much DxD vol 16 sell? |

LN sales do not usually get boost just because of anime announcement. Even if there is boost, it would be small. Real boost only comes when the anime starts to air. Not that many people would buy a LN to read and get prepared for an anime. A lot more people will wait for the anime to see if the title really interests him. The idea is always that the sound, the voice and the visual will prove attractive enough for people to take the plunge into the text of LN. And none of these factors would be there with merely an announcement. |

hpulley said: True, but this is why I want to point out the difference in treatment between manga and VN/game. Anime adaptation is of course made to help sell the original material, but it is clear that we are seeing completed manga getting anime adaptation that often. I made my observation without passing any judgement so I am not saying this is good or bad - I have not even made any speculation of the reason. What is currently being produced for Walkure Romanze that needs sales? For Junketsu no Maria? If both are now being made just for the anime, not as advertisements for ongoing publications or game sales then that is interesting to me. And we can be sure that even for an old VN like Walkure Romanze there is a boosting effect from the anime. I just saw some report that sales of both Walkure Romanze and White Album 2, both VNs released quite some time ago, got quite good boost after the anime is aired, so it is difficult to say that the anime is not done as advertisement and just for the anime itself. |

On the topic of Walkure Romanze, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a fandisc is coming out soon that will include Akane as a heroine as she wasn't one in the main game. Dunno how this connects with the manga/LN rankings topic though. Anyways: *5, 16,057 *48,646 Kuro no Basket TV Anime Navigation Book: KuroNavi! This is missing a "ko" in Kuroko btw. NouCome hadn't ranked until volume four when the anime was announced. Coincidence? Five didn't rank but six did when the anime came out. RDG volume 4 came out in bunko format before the anime started and ranked. When did SnK sales take off, when announced or when it started airing? |

symbv said: While people talk about anime announcement boost (which I don't think really exist) I'm fairly sure it does exist, even if it is comparatively small. After all, having an anime announced is a form of advertising as it makes more people aware of the series, or think about the series whereas previously they wouldn't and more people doing these mean more people buying it. Also it gets the people who are already reading it to suddenly start talking about it more, and this word of mouth voluntary advertising is by far the most effective way to get someone interested in a work of fiction. Of course, the effect of that depends on how much attention people in Japan pay towards these announcements, but from what I've seen the Japanese anime fanbase pays quite a lot of attention to them. |

My point is that big boost from anime announcement is limited and small. Surely compared to the boost provided by anime actually being aired, the scale could be very different. As I said, there are people who would buy the LN/manga to get themselves prepared before the anime actually starts airing, but the number would not be that many compared to people actually get their interests piqued by the sound and visual coming from the anime. |

That happens quite often when a volume comes out towards the end of the week. |
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do. |

21st book of baccano still managing to rank in the top 10 in its first week is nice. Sales look small compared to bigger titles from Dengeki Bunko though. |

NeoAnkara said: You see the publish date as Oct 19, right? And you know the week the list covers - past week it was Oct 7 - 13 (the title of this news thread) so this week it is Oct 14 - 20. Now do the simple maths...*9 *22,008 *22,008 2013/10/19 High School DxD 16 Only 22? How many days it is accumulated? BTW, where in LNDB can one find the LN sales information? |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

Thanks. Mecasonic is pretty quick in posting this as the data were out by less than 10 hours. I hope Mecasonic is reading this. I believe the title of the post is not correct: Weekly Oricon Rankings (Bunko): 07/10/2013~13/10/2013 should be Weekly Oricon Rankings (Bunko): 14/10/2013~20/10/2013 Perhaps this is why NeoAnkara got confused about the days HDxD's sales were accumulated. |

I haven't seen an image of how the weekly LN sales look like, such as for BD/DVD... but it'd probably be useful to have that "days on sale" column in the data as we can see on 2ch.
