Prison School

This is one of the funniest thing i've ever seen, read or even experienced. Period.

First of all the art is stunning, it's actually what lead me to read this. It doesn't matter if you're a boy or a girl, the manga is just visually appealing from beginning to end (of course if you happen to like women this is, well some sort of pervy heaven xD); every single detail, every single action, everything is perfect. Then the characters: oh the characters. There's no such thing as a dull character here, they all have their thing that makes them unique and great in their own way, you won't forget anyone, and you'll miss them if they're not around. And last but not least is the story, the plot is let's say "simple" but that doesn't mean is boring, or bad, actually everything that happens is completely unexpected and unpredictable. They manage to disguise serious issues like bullying, betrayal, jealousy and many others with such hilarity and cleaverness that you will overlook the fact that actually pretty ugly stuff happens in this series main storyline. God this is just so fun and so refreshing to read, the kind of humor presented in this series is so so so basic yet so so so damn good... I sincerely hope this ends as good as it started, or at least as silly. Ah I sound like a teenage girl in love, do i?. I really really really love this manga and I hope everybody else does too.

This manga is extremely funny. Several times I have busted a gut laughing. The reason I find Kangoku Gakuen so good is because of the characters. The main guys are all unique. The story becomes rather serious dealing with things such as betrayal, and humiliation; sometimes this is funny but at other times it is sad. The comedy is over the top, it's just hilarious. Another good thing about this manga is that you can feel the emotions certain characters are feeling. These characters (at least to me) can be something people can relate to; I have pooped my pants once (never in school). To sum this up give School Prison a chance. It's amazing, it's something you have to see with your own eyes. The art is amazing as well.

This is my first review, so sorry if it sucked and it probably did. And for those who say "how can this guy even review this, Kangoku Gakuen is not even done" - well, I know Kangoku Gakuen can only get better. It's like the snowball effect, just epic.

Don't listen to guys, who tell you this manga is only for those who like perverted stuff.

I really dislike hentai, and I avoid ecchi whenever possible. This manga stayed on my "plan to watch" list for a while, before I finally picked in up and finished 144 chapter in one day (actually, two days, because I finished long after midnight).

Is there a lot of ecchi in Kangoku Gakuen? Yes, unfortunately. BUT! Bigger half of it is made into a joke or something funny, and so it doesn't feel like straight fanservice.

The second half of ecchi is so overboard and unrealistic that I make a typical "WTF?!"-face and quickly forget about it. Example: [spoiler] a girl, who sweats all over her body, so much she creates a puddle of sweat under her.[/spoiler]

Story:
You laugh 80% of the time, so what's more to say? There seems to be a plot, but that's in the backgorund. Comedy is a priority in this manga (along with ecchi).

Art:
I have a rule, anyone who draws better than me is good. I give 9/10, because I prefer some censorship. As I said before, I don't like ecchi. If ecchi was less visible and more up-to-your-imagination, this manga would be getting 10/10 from me.

Character:
Each character is unique. Each one is different. Some are more "normal" and some are really not "normal". They learn, experience life, change with time and screw up a lot, or maybe it's just that life is hard and usually against you.

Enjoyment:
Me reading this manga looks like this:

So is it worth reading? If you cannot find anything truly funny, and you really want to laugh, yes.

So what about ecchi? You cannot get rid of it, but you can try to develop a magical eye, called "ecchi-no-mushi-gan", also knows as "ecchi-ignore eye".

Final warning:
DO NOT, (let me repeat:) DO NOT read this, if someone else may accidentally see the screen. This manga can be very easily identified as PORN, so the best is to have a wall behind you, if you're planning to read this. Also, make sure there's no window on that wall.

First of all let me tell you English isn't my mother language so this review will probably suck.

The story focuses on a strict female high school where boys starts to be welcome and on the five boys who get in this high school: The typical well-intentioned protagonist Kiyoshi, who he gets into trouble because of misunderstandings, his childhood friend, Shingo, a Japanese history freak and the one who will figure out most of the plans (And also my favorite character) Gakuto, a masochist fat boy whose face is very small compared with his head, Andrei, and the most mysterious one, Jô, who is always covered by a hood and always when he attempts to talk starts coughing blood. These five boys will be in a situation where many of us would love to be: living in a high school with over 1000 girls and being the only males. However this is not as easy for them, since their shyness prevents them from talking to girls and end up being totally marginalized. And to make matters worse, on his first night there, they have brilliant idea of going to peep the girls while showering (how could it be otherwise), which triggers that they end up catching them and locking in a prison is in school. From here begins their new life as prisoners, making plans to survive all kinds of new misunderstandings and accidents and even to escape from it.

Despite this plot, Prison School is above all a comedy with a very Japanese, eschatological, adult and sometimes strange humor, but above all very very porn humor. But is not the kind of topic ecchi that is extremely cliche and many of us dislike, it is a kind of ecchi that -despite some scenes of vice prez- in my opinion is very well run, which does not seem pure fanservice, and which shows openly naked girls but also knows how to suggest perfectly by showing very little, all of this being really helped by the excellent and realistic drawing of Akira Hiramoto (although as I said, in some scenes you can see the influence of hentai in the vice prez, you know, with these absurdly large and sweaty breasts and hips...). I personally do not like neither ecchi stories nor fanservice in general, although, as an heterosexual guy, if I see a (reallistically drawn) naked girl it wont displease me.

Another strength of Prison School is how addictive results its reading. Its beginning is really strong and gives a very favorable first impression, and left a great intrigue for what will happen. Furthermore that feeling is maintained for the rest of the manga. Almost all chapters end with a new extreme situation that you want to see how the protagonists settle with. And as they are always very original occurrences, each more amazing, this makes your expectations grow as the series progresses, but it never disappoint. In fact there is truly epic scenes, for example in one scene the protagonist Kiyoshi, is forced to answer correctly the question that the director asked him "Which do you prefer? Tits or ass? Why ? ". The answer given by Kiyoshi and the whole scene itself will endure forever in my memory as one of the best scenes I've ever read in a manga.

In general, is a good manga Prison School? My final note is 8 / 10. It is clearly a very fun and interesting manga, which you will undoubtedly enjoy so much unless you hate any ecchi or you unfortunately have a very closed mind on these issues. Whatever, I recommend that at least bear it a chance and do not listen to those which say that this manga is only for perverts. As I said, Prison School's ecchi is not like other fanservices. Besides the ecchi in Prison School is not the best of it. Mental duels where characters map out strategies and this kind of things, the realistic drawing and the humor is in my oppinion the best of it. And although it is too early to judge it, I am convinced that it won't disappoint me, this manga is like a snowball, I know it will only get better.
