But the rest of the episode was quality in more ways than one so I won't complain much. |

Guess which swimming races are the most popular? The short ones. Why? Because it's boring as f to watch people swim for an extended amount of time. Swimming, like running/track, are like adrenaline shots to the audience. It's different from basketball, soccer, baseball etc. Free! didn't label itself as a sports anime, but if I were to take that label seriously, I would say it's a good sports anime since it's not overloading us with characters swimming laps. | Wow, I didn't expect this show to ever actually get remotely serious (aside from the Haru/Rin rivalry, but that backstory was weaksauce). I kind of like the lighthearted side of the series more, but I'm interested in seeing how they'll handle this next episode. I was expecting a lot of these gags to get old and annoying, but I'm actually enjoying a lot of the show's quirks. Thank god this wasn't a blatantly generic beach episode either. | yay my beautiful swimming men are back <3 a trip to a tropical/deserted island! i loved the brother/sisterly love in this episode. rin and gou are so precious and its so sweet seeing that rin still cares a lot for his younger sister. rei is still angsty about how he's the weakest swimmer, so i can understand how he's feeling, but i'm worried for him now. (also that scene where he was gonna adjust his glasses but realized he was wearing no glasses, SO CUTE.) next episode we should find out the past between makoto and the ocean. |

| Nagisa and Gou's excitement is adorable. <3 Lolol Rin smelled Haruka by his mackerel. Rei trying to push his glasses up that weren't there anymore was so cute, ahaha. Lots of MakoHaru this episode. ^^ Gou-chan loves her niichan, so sweet~ Lol I love Nagisa arguing about the tents. They all look so cuuute with their sleeping faces. (✿◕‿◕) Looks like we'll find out what happened in Makoto's past in the next episode. (I used the word cute a lot, but it fits so well!) |

| Ok so they are going to stick to their preferred strokes I don't see how they can't do both relays. For the medley relay, Haruka can just swim freestyle and for the freestyle relay well...they all just swim freestyle. There were a lot of cute moments. Like when Rei was about to adjust his glasses but he didn't have them on so he blushed and then Rin asking Kou how Haruka and the others were doing (he was even concerned about Makoto) I would NEVER swim in open water...maybe not alone but I it would be very dangerous especially for someone who doesn't know how to swim very well (Rei!) But I don't think it was ok for Rei to go out and swim at night (not just b/c of what happened) He started a new sport. His body needs to get used to the training and he also needs to rest. Overexerting himself won't help him and he can hurt his body. I know there is a light novel and I plan on reading it this weekend to fill in some of the questions left unanswered on this week's episode. THIS IS NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR!! |

| Well, this anime picked up fast. Traumatic childhood experiences and a deathly cliffhanger crammed into one episode - I really wasn't expecting much from this anime besides hot guys and cute ships but it's getting more interesting for being such a light series. *nod* Also ohoho, I see a love blossoming between literature teacher and pizza delivery swim coach! |

| I'm really enjoying the series thus far. Honestly, I was just expecting fluff and buff but there's a plot, back stories, and distinct characters....and of course fluffy light-heartedness with lovely triceps. Of course, not everyone will like it (and at this point, I kinda wish they would just drop it and move on instead of complaining about the series every episode) but a fun anime overall, imo. And now the wait until episode 6... |

| Loved it!! Such fun, cheerful ep for the most part ^^ I actually liked Rin for a change, when he was nice to his sister and actually showed some concern for his old friends. Rei-chan is doing much better than me! I would probably drown somewhere in the first 2 meters. I was actually surprised how Haru-chan and Makoto are both so tuned in to each other's feelings... I thought it was only Makoto's ability. I guess because they've been together for so many years. If there's a god, Haru-chan needs to give Makoto CPR next ep >3 |
