Dang Shuaza died difrently whille using the time machine. That was unexpecting, but pitiful too. And after that, the futyre changed. That's good.
Shuarza is his father. Wow.
At first, i thought when Okabe texting the D-mail will be stupid. Itwill bring the same ending back in episode 13, but thank godness Mayuri didn't die that time.

It's not just Suzuha failing that got to me, but the idea that she spent 25 years in vain and ended up accomplishing nothing in the end. It was bittersweet that Okarin was able to give her a better ending, but at the expense of everyone else's memories and time spent with her. I just hope this ends up breaking the endless cycle of Mayuri's deaths, I don't think I can stand seeing her die anymore :x.

ok so i want you guys to think about this as much as i have so this might be long. if they fail and nothing changes, when our current group reaches the future suzuha will be born again, and then in 2036 she will use daru's time machine to go back to 2010 again to try to save the future again, where she will go back to 1975 again and fail again. however if they succeed at changing the future into a world where SERN no longer rules, then suzuha would have never had to go back in the first place, meaning that when she is born again in the future she would be well alive and the whole "died in 2000" thing would never have happened, because she never would have went back. make any sense?

So what exactly caused the change from suicide to illness?... or what was the content of the D-mail, and who was it to?

Pretty emotional episode though.

Saying goodbye to Suzuha only to hear thats she is dead by suicide a few hours later... ouch.
But with this series you can never be sure that someone is dead forever.

Thankfully it wasn't really suicide but illness. Not that that was a good thing, but atleast it wasn't suicide, that would have been too cruel.

I only hope once this is all and done, she'll get to live a happy life with Daru, her mom and everyone else.

This episode is always for me so emotional. When Okabe read the letter and then learn from Mr. Braun that she commited suicide, it just break my heart. Suzuha is such an amazing fellow, she sacrificed herself for the sake of the society. I hope she had a great life in the 70's.

Nice going Mayuri! :D

Classic Daru: "Y-You should say 'Papa!' at a time like this."

Feris-tan I'm calling it! It'll start with that 'one-day date' Okabe promised ;)

That letter :O

Another D-mail, I feel sorry for the gang... I wonder how much memory they lost?

At least Mayuri is finally safe (for now...), I wonder if Suzu managed to get the IBN5100?

I also wonder if the date will still happen?

Wow... I actually started tearing up this episode.

So the first time she spent too much time in 2010. Made great memories but failed and committed suicide. Sad :'(

The second time, I'm assuming Okarin sent a D-mail to himself 5 days ago to not stop Suzu from leaving on the rainy day. So this time she did succeed but all those heart warming memories disappeared. Sad :'(

I'm not sure which one is more depressing...

So sad that all the time spent with Suzuha is gone now. I hope Daru finds out she was his daughter though, it's too sad otherwise. The divergence number changed but it looks like the future hasn't changed enough. I wonder what happened when Suzuha (assuming this is what happened) went back to 1975 before the storm.

Wow...love this episode for so many things. Suzuhas letter was so heart wrenchingly sad and how she commits suicide because of her regrets. I think it really pushes the story forward though and how Okabe feels remorse to time leap again and keep his promise to Suzuha. Despite Mayuris pleas for him not to causing Suzuha losing the memories of her father, but in turn geting closer to the 1% divergence.

I don't get the significance of that Computer. I bet it was Suzuha who left him the computer at the shrine in the first place, and at that time they didn't seem to know what to do with it.

However, maybe there's a world line where they eventually figured it out... All this time jumping is a bit confusing...

The best thing would probably be if they never finished their time machine

Who's to say SERN wouldn't be beat in the future eventually?... even if SERN used time travel to stop their defeat a world line would still exist where they were defeated.

With this theory of time travel achieving your ends is pretty much a donation, unless you find a way to go to the world line you want to be in, or if you have the reading steiner ability like Okabe.
Love and Peace!!!

I'm going a bit crazy with all this time travel. Didn't they get the IBN 5100 in the very first universe line? How could a simple D-Message change the future SO MUCH and make the IBN 5100 simply disappear?

On the other hand, Daru being Suzuha's father creates a time paradox.
He ordered a "fake" pin because he wanted to make Suzuha happy, but Suzuha already had that pin, which means that she has to be from a universe line in which Daru orders that "fake" pin because the Suzuha of that universe line was searching for her dad, who had that pin. It's a loop.

Condition for Suzuha to have the pin: Daru fakes it trying to make her happy
Condition for Daru to fake the pin: Suzuha was searching for a person with that pin, which implies that Daru faked it.

So we end up with this:

The condition for Daru to fake the pin is that Daru faked the pin.

And I think it's pretty impossible to accomplish that.

Well you must have already seen episode 9. A single D-mail could change the fate of a town (Akihabara becoming a simple electronics town, not the Holy Land of Anime it is now). D-mails are quite powerful, depending on who it is sent to, when, and what the content is. A D-mail might even ruin the whole world if it is sent to the wrong person (again, depending on its contents). In theory you could send a D-mail about some country leader's wife being taken hostage and killed unless they send nukes to every other country in the world, and they might do it (wouldn't happen in real life, but you know what I mean) and after a world line change the whole world might be destroyed and you (or someone with the Reading Steiner ability to sense the change) might already be dead in that world due to the radiation/explosion :/
So yeah, the IBN 5100 disappearing was actually a pretty small thing. You might think that they didn't send anything big, but, well, you will learn soon what really happened in the upcoming episodes :)

Yes, it's a paradox in a way. It's called a Bootstrap paradox. You can find more information about this type of paradox here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bootstrap_paradox
But there is actually nothing wrong with it, because it can happen, especially due to the possibility of time travel here.
It's the same thing with the Divergence Meter. Okabe supposedly created it, but when it was brought back to the past by Suzuha, it was given to Okabe, and after his death it came into the possession of Daru, who gave it to Suzuha. So the question is when did it start? Okabe didn't have to make one, because he already had one. It's pretty much like it just suddenly came into existence :D

If I'm not missing something (probably I am?), that was a very, VERY big thing.
The origin of the IBN in the first universe line couldn't be due to Suzuha getting it in the past, because she was way too young to have lived through 1975-2010.
But, in the later universe lines the IBN is not there, and Suzuha has to go back to the past to get it. That's a great change.

From Wikipedia: "Whether or not a scenario described in this paradox would actually be possible, even if time travel itself were possible, is not presently known."

I still think a paradox like that cannot possibly happen. It's like saying: "X will happen only if X happens before X happens". Well, at least that's the way I see it :P

I meant that the disappearance of a single object is a lot smaller then fate of the world :P I'm talking about the change itself. The disappearance of the IBN didn't effect the world as would, say, a nuclear war either happening or not happening. But yes, since Okabe's objective right now is to get the IBN back it's a "big" change in a way :)
The origin of the IBN in the Alpha Attractor Field (the one they are in right now), is always Suzuha. Suzuha's whole mission was to go back to the year 1975 to get an IBN (which she will, and will later give it to Feyris' father, who in turn will donate it to the Yanabayashi Shrine). She will always go back, because Okabe and the others will always help her repair the time machine. Even if they don't, I'm sure she would repair it eventually.
It's pretty much almost the same as the paradox we were talking about :'D

Well in the Steins;Gate world it can, you have just seen it :P Both with the pins and the Divergence Meter. My theory is that the world allows this to happen because it's a stable closed time loop. It doesn't really need a start in a way, because of how the world works (Attractor Field theory). Whenever a world line shift happens the world just changes "tracks" and the past, present, and future of the world all changes at once. The past, present and future of the new world line is, in a way, set in stone. The time of this world is not linear, so even the future "already happened" as you can see in, say, Suzuha's perspective.
It's a big mindfuck, I know :P

My favourite bit was when Okarin was talking to Daru in the terrace, and there was this beautiful piano piece playing in the background *_*

I guess it was only natural for Mayuri to figure it out first, she has a simple way of looking at things after all.
