Another great, episode.

So far I liked SAO arc more than alfheim, because alfheim goes a little bit too slow for me. The end of episode was chilling, though.

Why does someone just HAVE to mention the shittiest trainwreck in last five years or so? Why oh why...here come the horrible memories. I have yet to see more despicable and boring leads than in that show.

People calling Kirito a gary stu should watch it just to know what a real personality-less misogynist gary stu looks like.

Sorry man, I had to.

So much fan service in this episode, Suguha is some competition for Asuna and for a second I felt like I watching Oreimo and not SAO. And Sugou just fails has a top heel aka bad guy he is nothing but a pedophile. Better episode than last week IMO 5/5

What? Complimenting the show and it's character = shit posting now?

I'm just jumping the bandwagon like everyone else.

Regarding SSY
Amazing first 4 episode!
but.... 5 and 6 are bad!
SSY sell like shit, and they deserved it. First they let some director screw around with the already establish artstyle, ruin the pacing, change the story... Then follow up with another bad episode and make the whole thing confusing. I rather see that show cancelled than to have it badly directed from this point on.

Because unlike most fans, I won't defend my favorite show if they did indeed, screw up! I don't support crap!

FUCK SSY'S DIRECTOR!

Shinsekai Yori will be remembered by me as a show that could've been great from start to finish. But I will never defend it's shortcomings and the retarded decisions made by the staffs backstage.

EDIT:
Same goes for Hayate
I hated Hayate no Gotoku's new artstyle, episode 3 gave me a nightmare.
But I compliment episode 5, why? Because the art got better!
People thought I'm a hater everywhere I go, but I'm just being real.

I have to agree partially. The first 3-4 episodes were definitely very promising and I didn't like the direction it took with episode 5 and 6 but I still will continue to follow it.
The tantrum you threw in the episode 5 thread was ridiculous nontheless.

It's ridiculous because I was genuinely disappointed. It could've been a show that I can show it proudly to my friends, it could've been the next Steins;Gate, it could've been the next Clannad After Story.

I was devastated. I felt insulted by what they did to the show, and most of all, I'm pissed because of how they let the source material down. (Worse of all, it's deliberate!)

IMO, nothing is worse than wasted potentials! What really got to me it's the fact that it's deliberate! I wouldn't be as pissed if the whole change of animation is the result of unforeseen crisis and such!

You're generous with your ratings. Mine for SAO at this stage would be 6, any more retardation and I'll rate it 5 for average.

Yeah.

I'm usually a bit out of control when I'm exploring and writing out why I'm disappointed at something, especially if it's something I love. I tend to learn more things about the show that annoyed me and continue to add them to what I initially tried to write.

First it's SAO, and now SSY.

I can only be grateful that I found a surprise hit call Magi this season.

Maybe it will get better again. It didn't have that much potential in my opinion but I liked it. Did you read the source material for SSY? I wanted to but it isn't translated yet as far as I know.

The difference between a 6 and a 7 is not really high and even though the adaption is subpar it's still far enough above average in my opinion that it would justify a 7. It has its flaws but most of the people who truly hate it don't even try and just pull things out of their ass or act like retards deliberately.

Like I said over 20 times, I don't hate SAO, I'm just very disappointed.

Thought I'm not someone who rate most of his/her show 8 and above, I'm actually quite generous with my ratings when compared to critics.

Anything that I deem entertaining is 6~7. I only give 5 to shows that had very little going for it. Anything with 4 and below are shows that I regret watching.

Regardless of whether SSY get better or not, the damage of episode 5 and 6 has been done, and it cannot be reverse. Unless A-1 decide to reanimate the whole thing (Highly Unlikely), the 2 episode will always be the black spot of SSY.

I donno, being sarcastic and praise it seemed to convey my message much more effectively.

When a show is constantly praised and it made the fans uncomfortable because some of the praises are unjustified/stupid... I wonder what you call those feelings...

The only thing you conveyed was your butthurt.
You are not a fan, not even I would call myself a fan of the anime.

No idea how you call it, but it is retarded. People will always like things you don't like and vice versa, no reason to get angry. That shouldn't affect your enjoyment of something and you have no justification for thinking your opinion weighs more than theirs.

This episode was weak. The fan service was nice, but of place and pointless. And they are just rehashing the Crimson Knights, and replacing Asuna with the cousin and the Crimson Knights with the fairies.

Another good episode IMO.
I liked how Titania listened to the sound from the pressed keys and got the actual code.
Suguha's gonna eventually become suspicious that her brother might be Kirito, because his dinner's always gone whenever he logs out to get something to eat.
I also loved the ending... it blended so superbly with the ED.
I wonder who's following them though?

P.S. I see alot of ppl are disgusted with how the show turned out because it's not following the light novel/manga. I've never read any of them, but I like what i'm getting. The only problem might be with the slow pace.

The problem is that they rushed the Aincrad arc and now stretch out the Fairy Dance arc. No idea why they didn't give Aincrad one or two more episodes. I would have probably liked it best if they gave Aincrad 25 episodes and slowed down the pacing to give it more exposition and world building.
That's just my opinion, though, I still enjoy watching it.

Not bad episode. The whole thing about those two helping one another in-game and not knowing who is the other one is sort of... boring. I mean, it's not like it changes anything. Sugu is in love with him either way and Kirito doesn't like Sugu that way either way. So, what's the big deal?

About Sugu, I agree with everyone who thinks she's too mean to that boy (though, that could be my own bias because I would choose him over Kirito any day XD). However, I think she does it simply to let him know she isn't interested without rejecting him outright. Though, I find it rude/stupid/annoying to call someone by their game name irl, so I understand why she was annoyed.

I have a question, does the author play any mmorpgs? I'm really curious about this due to how he portrays parties and guilds. I don't consider myself "experienced" mmorpg player but most of mmos Ive played had auto-kick either right after disconnecting or after some time since disconnection so I see NO point in being that mad at someone leaving a party. Besides, people leave parties without giving a reason/word very often, I'm not saying it's right (and it can be very annoying) but getting THAT mad over something like that? That sounds like something a noob would do. Not someone clearly experienced and famous in the game. If it were in the middle of a dungeon (where you can't fly/teleport) or in the middle of a boss fight etc. it would make sense. But in a big town full of people looking for a party? Seriously?

In my MMO experience, if you leave a raid group while its still forming, and you were a key member (like the well-geared main tank, which tend to be rare for PUGs), the people in that group will be bitter since it usually means its gonna fall apart soon afterwards. Leaving guilds however is usually a bigger deal, since in WoW, if you wanna get into a competent guild, and you have to apply/get interviewed, and if you have a history of guild hopping, it doesn't look very good.

I kind of think it is the opposite. Often a more intense than usual level of tenseness could be a sign of the girl having a little mindful of the boy, which can later blossom into feeling. But of course it is way too early to say here when Suguha has a clear target now.

I don't play any mmorpgs, but the author boasted that he played dozens of MMORPG dated from its early days, so he is a very experienced MMORPG players. His tweets are known for lots of talks and thoughts about the link between MMORPG he played and the works he wrote.

I just want to add that getting mad at a person leaving a group or a guild is very real apparently. I remember reading Japanese forums after ep.18 aired and found quite a number of people attesting their bad experience when he wanted to leave a group or a guild. And those who got angry were not some noobs either. Some of those wanting to leave were actually threatened that if they left they would be attacked later or their shops would be sabotaged. It seems to me that the author knew what he is talking about.

Wow, I've never heard of anything like that. I wonder if it's just a Japanese thing because I've been in parties were important people left (even when party was on the field) and no one ever made a big deal out of it since in popular games you can find someone to fill the spot easily. Though, it did take some time so I could get if they were pissed but THAT mad? I understand, now, that it happens, I just don't get it. XD

It wasn't "still forming" and I doubt it was a "raid group" since it looks like they played together daily (unless they were making raids daily). And there's also difference between "bitter" and " threatening them and nearly attacking them". I wasn't talking about leaving guilds but about when Asuna wanted to leave guild party to party with Kirito. Either way, (from post quoted higher) seems like people actually do overreact over stuff like this. I guess I'm lucky I haven't met anyone like that yet.

Seriously?

Let's just say this will become much clearer over the next two episodes. For now all I will say is that every one of the 8 species in Alfheim has a political structure, topped by a Species Leader with special powers, and the reason the party leader is mad at Suguha's leaving has to do with this aspect of the game, not the dungeon clearing game.

As for Recon, continue to watch, I am really hoping that they will have a certain scene because if they do you will slap your forehead and go: oh that's why she treats him as a friend.

Honestly? SAO should have finished at episode 14. It's getting SO boring with all that fanservice.
Without the fanservice it will be even more boring, don't you think?
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

I see, that makes much more sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

XD

One thing I would say about the Japanese is that they are usually far more serious about things than we are. If they consider it worth doing, they will do it at 120%.

It's a stereotype of course, but a true enough one. It is the one thing that amazes (both positively and negatively) me most about Japan. On the positive side this allows Japan to produce some of the greatest craftsmen in the world: experts that spend their entire lives acquiring a skill, which they continue to refine over their lifetime. In Japan these people are called "National Treasures". The same is true of "Fans". I am sure you have scene animation about Comiket where 500,000 people show up to buy fan created doujinshi. Of course we have fans as well in the US, but nowhere near this level of support and organization.

The negative side of this of course is an overly strict adherence to dogma and tradition, and yes, people who take the fantasy world a little too serious.

One additional point. Don't forget that this is a VR world. If people get mad and upset over our games now, just imagine how much more upset they would be when they can directly interact and have close personal relationships with people. So rather than thinking of AOL as being similar to one of our games, think of it more as a high school, or some other intense social setting.

As I wrote above, in this particular instance politics are driving the behavior, but one of the things I have noticed about a lot of the other complaints about SAO is that the people really haven't given any thought to how a VR world would operate and be similar and different to the real world. Kawahara has.

It's not uncommon for politics like that to happen in MMO's. I was in a top guild in WoW and due to leaving my guild when lich king came out(for real life stuff), the raid leader and I had a full on argument for everyone on Vent to hear. The names I got called and the shit-talk he was saying, were enough to make me think this guy had no life. Yeah I applied to be in that guild, and yeah I happen to be one of the main healer and spare tank, but when you have a real excuse to actually leave and get shat on for it, it makes you wonder why people even join guilds in the first place.

There are a few games, especially in the past that when you log off, you're not booted from the party.

But yea, some people in mmorpg takes it very seriously. I have had guildmates calling me and my friends traitor, and even threaten to be hunted down and KoS as well. This is especially due to their greed & jealousy when me and my friend starts collecting rare gears with other friends / guilds while they were offline. Me & my friend aren't really uptight about keeping rares since we often give them away to our circles of friends for free, or if someone we know ask for them first.

There are even dramas when I get a few guild invitations when I'm already in another guild. Why, I have no idea since I never consider myself as a key player nor do I want to be one. I just want to play to have fun =/

I just have the personality to play a lot of characters to learn every class inside and out so that I can adapt to other people play style when playing on my main character, which are usually healer / treasure hunter type classes.

The last mmorpg I played, it was totally community driven with no npc. Lots of shit / politics to deal with in terms of politics, especially when the game first started out. Now it's all peace & quiet, but I quit the game after a few month subscription. Well now I'm just playing single player / co-op rpg games, or fps for a while.

IMO, although the episode is slow, this episode does show a lot about the politics and relationships between the players, their party, and their loyalty towards a nation in the game. So I like this episode.

Didn't seem like much happened.

How the hell does she not know it's her brother? Really? The look. Voice. Coincidences.

It really felt like they could have introduced a nice new character with this arc, and instead we get his sister which is the worst romantic option they've introduced yet.

Enjoyed this episode. Yui character is always enjoyable. Interested in more of the mechanics of the game they are currently in. Looking forward to the eventual discovery between Suguha and Kazuto. Overall, I just enjoy SAO.

First, she is his cousin, not sister. Pay attention.
Second, in Japan cousins can marry, so it isn't incest. Expand your horizons.
Third, why they wouldn't recognize one another has been explained countless times in this thread. If you want to participate spend 5 minutes informing yourself. That is the least you could do.
Fourth, there is no romantic option here. Kirito is completely in love with Asuna, which has been made clear countless times. I find it funny how easy people ignore true romance, and can only think of a harem as "real romance". Says more about them then about the writer.

honestly, if they want to please us with SAO adaptation, they should make one for SAO:Progression. I believe that version would have be better suited since they are going through the level 1 by 1, probably ending up with lots of episode =D~

I can only dream =( lol

In fact I think it is quite likely given how well SAO anime BD/DVD are selling. The main question is only that if it gets animated first before the later volumes of SAO are.

They got more screemtime and "development" than most side characters, so yes: I agree.
