| Rea is just so cute. The swinging-the-bench part was well adapted. That is what you get for scaring a zombie. Because of that mask, Rea became a zombie-ninja. Though, I wish they had extended the date rather than adding Ranko. From the preview, looks like Furuya's situation will be solved quickly and Mero! Yay! More Mero! I wanna see how it plays out now. |

He didn't know what happened the second time though. But seriously, nobody notices a kidnapping happening in broad daylight? Good thing she's so strong, she could fend them off herself. xD Problem now is that Furuya got captured. Her father is most likely going to beat all the answers about Rea out of him. Rea will most certainly fall for the bait and try to rescue him. When her father actually gets a hold of Rea she'll most likely decay because he doesn't know/care about her diet, or worse. Furuya might tell him though. In next episode's preview is doesn't really looks like it'll pick up where it left off here or why would if be all a about Mero and her friends and do we see Rea laughing? |

| The physics of Rea swinging that (I assume) stone bench around were just so wrong. Okay, so I know I'm focusing on something rather trivial out of a pile of things... On the bright side, Rea did at least fend for herself rather than collapsing in fright, and Chihiro at least had good intentions when he tried to question one of the kidnappers. As for Chihiro's family, I want to decided that "not quite with it" is a family trait, except what to do about Mero. Maybe she's adopted or something. |

| Loved the romantic part with rea and chihiro <3 But the best scene, hands down, was ofc rea ripping out a stone bench and fending off those kidnappers. Akane Tendo would be proud. Can't wait for next week PS: Could have done with moar Meru fanservice :D |

| Many adaptations should kneel before this one, it's so good. Rea was epic but not as epic as Erza (still can't get it out of my head), she should do some superhero thing like Son Gohan and Videl did in DBZ, would be hilarious. Come on, Hattori, make it happen. |
| With a Mero backstory coming (it looks like) in the next episode, does that mean we get to find out a bit more regarding how grampa knows so much about zombies? I thought that this episode actually had Chihiro displaying a lot more interest in Rea as a girl (as opposed to as a zombie). That seemed to be some romantic progress, although he is displaying some male mc syndrome symptoms (not repeating the compliment when Rea gives him a chance). Come on Chihiro, you should know that this romance just might have a best before date.... |

I was expecting the overall feel of the beginning to continue... and I was happy when Chihiro got captured and moved the plot along... but next weeks preview looks dumb. I'm not going to drop it (yet) because I'm invested in the characters. The "tit-licking" shit a few eps ago put me over the EDGE (This is a fucking zombie anime....right?), and it's been going downhill since. We shall see... |

| From what I can tell from the preview it appears that episode 9 might center around Mero(similar to episode 7 which centered around Ranko) and that the kidnapping thing with Chihiro will resume in episode 10. |

Thanks for the info, I'll drop it then :) The manga gets pretty serious. Obviously we won't get too far into the manga since there are only 13 episodes this season. Hopefully Sankarea gets picked up for a second season down the road. A very interesting event will happen between Furuya and Rea's dad in episode 10 obviously. That only leaves about 3 episodes after. I assume the anime will probably introduce Darin or something along those lines. I mean I see why you might want to drop it because if you haven't read the manga the pacing is a bit hard to follow. For someone who has read the manga everything makes sense and I enjoy seeing everything animated. Keep in mind though that each of the episodes has been pretty faithful to the manga except for episodes like Ranko's back story, Mero's back story, and some facts revolving around Rea's background. These are welcomed additions for me because it adds character depth. Also, the manga is labeled as ecchi, romance, drama, and comedy so it makes sense that you should see the same themes in the anime. Episodes like Furuya and Rea shopping are crucial to build the relationship between the two. People are under the assumption that Furuya only likes Rea because she's a zombie; this isn't actually true. The reason why I love both the manga and the anime so much is because it's interesting observing how Furuya is going to approach the whole zombie situation. Later on in the manga Furuyu has to deal with things like the "hunger phase" which makes the relationship between Furuya and Rea much more complicated. Take it from a pretty big Sankarea fan that yes the situation gets much more serious. Also if you are already 8 episodes in, you should just finish it because I am sure episode 10 will be a lot more serious and I am sure the show will end on a high note. Hopefully it won't end on too much of a cliffhanger. It is like the 4th most popular anime out of the Spring lineup though. |

While I agree that Hattori is writing new stuff for the anime, we already know that season 1 will only get 13 episodes. You can check wiki and other sites that confirm that it's only getting 13 episodes this season. If you check the Blu-ray / DVD release schedule you will see that 2 episodes are on each volume through volume 5 and then volume 6 has 3 episodes which totals to 13. There are 2 OVAs that will release with volume 6 and volume 7 of the manga so I guess if you count those it would be 15 episodes this season. Hopefully Sankarea gets picked up for a season 2 down the road. Most anime this season are only getting 13 episodes. Typically 13 episodes equals to one season of anime. If an anime sells well enough then studios consider making another season. One anime that is getting 24 episodes though is Accel World. |

| Hrm. I liked the reversal there of Furuya being kidnapped instead of Sanka, and Sanka swinging that bench around was funny. I verbally uttered "Now this show's starting to get good." I also enjoyed the fanservice. |
| I found myself forgetting that Rea is a zombie SO many times! She seems so much more like a regular girl than one of the undead.... I'm so excited for the next episode, I wonder what Rea will do to help Furuya. |

| After last episode's extended focus on Ranko, the spotlight is back on Rea. I have to praise how faithful this episode is to its corresponding chapter, things happened the way I remembered them, with no major changes, just a few anime-original scenes that don't really change anything, but add more. Seeing this part of the story get animated is nice, Rea gets to enjoy the normal act of shopping, Chihiro reveals his fear of haunted houses, and then we see the goons' comically foiled attempt at kidnapping Rea. Chihiro gets abducted instead. |
| Hmm I'm a little worried about next ep. Title is Mother's Hand and that's about 4-5 chapters ahead of this ep, when past eps were only one chapter and the titles corresponded with chapter titles. Looks like they're going to start skipping around now :( |

I think they are being a bit selective of which chapters from the manga to adapt. Still, I think so far they have done a good job with the anime so I am not too worried that they are skipping around. |
