Yaoi that makes sense and isn't a freakin' crack pairing pulled out of someone's ass?

Love it.

yuri is think is just beautiful... but when it crosses the line into lesbo.. its beauty ceases.. hence why marimite is classy and good and strawberry panic is yuck

That's an interesting distinction to make. While I agree that Strawberry Panic was terrible and MariMite is total win, can you really say that the characters being overtly gay as in Strawberry Panic can't be done in a classy way? I suppose most yuri is considered fanservice so perhaps not... but I feel it's a shame to automatically draw that line.

Does Kashimashi even count as yuri? o.O Faux yuri, at the least.

ya i guess youre right.. could prolly be done in a classy way.. i think the drawing style/coloring/poor quality of strawberry panic made it worse.. for me at least.. i guess i dont really believe in that line.. but some of it i think was going a lil bit too far.. like when one character would basically start raping the other.. lol!

Weh....let's see. I like a little of both.
I usually just look at the pictures though. Doujins, them various big ol' color pictures you see throughout the internet.

About the only official one I want to see right now is Loveless.

Being a heterosexual, I prefer heterosexual anime. I know that most straight dudes aren't that deterred from yuri, but I stay away from yuri just as much as I do yaoi. I'm a romance buff so I prefer to watch romances that are easier for me to relate to.

THink of RL lez/gay action... guys dont watch RL gay porn... they watch RL lez action coz its normal ergo yuri is more normal than yaoi... and there is no pedo yuri (but there is a CRAPLOAD of pedo yaoi)

Tell me, what makes a guys interests more normal than a girls? =P
You must not have been on the internet long, there's tons of loli yuri, I've seen a lot more loli than I have shota.

I don't find characters with ridiculously large breasts very appealing, unfortunately this seems to be a requirement in yuri (and hentai), which is why I prefer yaoi.

As far as shounen-ai and shoujou-ai are concerned, while I like both I do lean more towards shounen-ai, simply because I'm female and find male characters more appealing.

I like yaoi and shounen-ai. Never watched a shoujou-ai before, but I'm open minded to any series that is good. But I stay clear of yuri... bit too much for me.

um, yea I'm a straight guy, so obviously I stay away from yaoi. I'm not even that crazy about yuri, although I don't mind it as much I guess but yuri would more like me keep me away from an anime rather than draw me towards it (probably is what's keeping me away from Simoun and Kannazuki no Miko). I have nothing against gay ppl but watching it isn't something that appeals to me is all.

I like your answer. Most 'straight' guys say that yaoi is disgusting but yuri is ok *rolls eyes* I understand that it's not their cup of tea but saying that one is disgusting and the other not is kind of hypocritical. If you are so secure of your sexuality, you can accept yaoi and yuri without prejudice and stereotypes.

As for me , I like both but I prefer yaoi...I like yaoi & yuri in anime but I love only yaoi in manga. I have yet to find a good yuri manga...

As a straight person myself, I dislike both yuri and yaoi, I never watched anything for those 2 genres (well I watched Strawberry Panic, but I dropped it) not my type at all.

On the other hand, I don't mind people watching and\ or loving it, people have different tastes, after all.

Yaoi makes me avert my eyes, which is fairly normal for a straight guy, I'd say. Yuri is okay, but only as okay as any hentai. Which isn't much.

I prefer 'normal' romance. I like it when yuri or yaoi side of things used as comedy in normal romance anime though.
I havent seen any anime that is aimed at yaoi fans, but I have seen some shoujo ai. Some of them them are okay.

Yaoi. For its artistic value, of course.

Neither, as a general rule of thumb. But there have been a few titles touted as 'yuri' (shoujo-ai, rather) that I've enjoyed, such as Marimite, and Mai Hime/Otome. I also really enjoyed Antique Bakery, and it's labelled shounen-ai, even though the fact one of the chars is gay really has little to do with anything.

But I generally avoid serious romance regardless of the orientation. Comedy or action etc with romance in it can go any which way and it's fine, but dramatic romance is boring regardless of straight, yuri or yaoi.

Yaoi or yuri is not 'normal' huh...

I like all kinds of romance but there never seems to be enough yuri (thats not hentai) and yaoi doesn't come as often (or as long) as regular het shows.

Homosexuality might not be my thing, but I have no problem with it.

Now I am not going to actually pick either, because it not being my thing, why would I want to pick one or the other.

I've watched yuri music videos, and I am not afraid of yaoi scenes in anime either.

I thought Kashimashi Girl meets Girl was a great anime. Then again I don't think it was genuinely entirely yuri anime either. I suspect some yaoi anime is not overtly yaoi as well.

The thread is I think probably silly. Might as well ask if the yaois and yuris in the anime community like watching straight anime.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

I didn't notice that 'normal' bit, but now that I have . . . DDD: what

I don't prefer any kind of romance -- m/f, m/m, f/f, m/f/m, f/m/f, whatevs. If a story is good, it doesn't matter the sex of who is involved in the main romantic entanglement, imho.

I have yet to find one of either genre that really interests me, so I can't really answer. For me, though, it wouldn't really matter, just as long as the story is interesting. I think I'll stay away from the more *ahem* graphic ones though.

I like yaoi. I like yuri. I like het. As long as the character dynamic is interesting, I will enjoy any romance.

Yuri for girls tends to be the best on average, though. Probably because girls know how girls think.
