| Basically the title, i would like to find a show that has excellent fightscenes, etc. Theres nothing wrong with comedy, im just a little bit tired of the dumb expressions anime characters tend to do. This is not really a topic asking for a recommendation, im just curious what people agree on for being suitable in that category, pardon my english i know, not so great. |

| Most of the shows get published in Shonen jump, even the most serious show need some light comedy moments for readers, you can try some seinen manga but I'm sure they also have those types of moments. |

| Cowboy Bebop would've perfectly fit what you want, but you've already saw it. Code Geass can also be a good choice but there is more comedy and isn't 100% of the time serious (those damn school episodes) but there isn't any "funny faces". Actually it's quite improbable you don't find any action anime that doesn't have any funny faces, just skip over the battles shonen (90% of action animes with funny faces) stuff and then you have a plethora of them. I think funny faces are alright if it is a comedy moment and it doesn't stop me from taking anything seriously, though I usually dislike the chibi moments if you can add it to the funny faces spectrum. PS: Wow your mom watches anime, you lucky bastard. EDIT: looked through your anime list and another good example you should watch is Berserk 1997, dunno why you watched the CGI sequel without it. Other PS: WOW that's a lot of 10 ratings, I no joke wish I was able to enjoy anime as much as you. |

| U've already seen a lot of the 'serious action shows' from the top of my head. This might be a left-field choice, but since your looking for some excellent action scenes I'de probably recommend the monogatari series, especially the 3 movies (although it doesn't fulfill the serious faces criteria most of the time). |

| Yes, but Im just recommending a show with quality action scenes. As I said, u've already seen most of the serious shows I know of. Maybe watch an action clip from one of the movies, see if it interests you. |

| You could also watch castlevania, the netflix show. It has great action, with a serious tone. It's basically an english anime. |

| It depends on what expressions you are talking about. If you mean the red vein, sweatdrop, and blue lines, then I can agree that they are pretty lazy. If you mean shounen jump's ultra-realistic expressions, then, well, that doesn't bother me. I could see why it would look silly, but I find those expressions quite useful when expressing the pain of the character. The little scratches on the face give you an idea where the character got hurt, the sweat tells you the character is worn out, and the more flexible skin makes the expression more serve in emotion. You could always do this: But that'll be pretty generic and you'll have less of an impact. |

| I don't remember Blue Gender and Area 88 (ovas) having them so I'd recommend those two in that regard. With that said they are full of traumatized/disturbed faces so maybe the throw you off the experience just like those funny faces you talk about, the constant quality drops and characters going off models in Blue Gender don't help either. Other than that both are pretty good shows. |
