rest in peace abbacchio :,(

his death scene was really well executed but so heartbreaking. and the fact that he used the last of moody blues' power to create that mask of the boss's face is amazing. i thought everything about that was so well done in this adaption. it's been a hot minute since i read the manga but the anime has made this so emotional and stuff - it's had me awestruck

it was cute to see Giorno suffering for his death even though Abbacchio never liked him.

I think the fact that he expected Giorno to use Gold Experience to lead that fragment in his hand back to the rock where Moody Blues left the imprint shows that he turned around on Giorno at the end.

This feels like it'll be an unpopular opinion, but this episode was wasted. The shoddy animation doesn't do Abbacchio's death justice. As a result, it just didn't hit as hard as it should have. This is worse than the killer queen reveal tbh, especially since up until now, part 5 has been hitting it out of the park. If the reactions were better animated, this would have been a 10/10 episode. As it stands, it's well written and genuinely sad, but leaves far too much to be desired.

My fav death in the franchise was done a great justice with this episode. I adore everything they did with it today especially the build up to it where you just know something isnt going right when they reach that rock and it seems like the boss is cornered.

Now that this arc is done, do you think the adaptation did it justice? You were hyping it up a couple of eps ago quite a lot, good to see it's getting the appreciation it deserves.

Abbachio's death in the manga is sad but since hes generally the least likeable of part 5's main group I was just kinda like "damn that sucks" It definitely hit me harder now that its animated but holy shit I almost lost it when he tries to get back on the bus and "return to his comrades" another phenomenal episode

I knew even before reading the manga that Abbacchio was going to die so it didn't really hit me when I read it.

But here? Holy fucking shit. It feels like this is my first time with part 5, I'm still crying like a bitch please spare me DP your adaptation is killing my heart.

Great episode... I teared up a little with the scene between Abacchio's death and Narancia begging Giorno. Gotta give props to Narancia's VA for that. The animation was beautiful and the story was beautiful. Thank you, DP and Araki, for this.
Edit: Holy crap. If you look back, his death was actually foreshadowed with the fact that he was the 4th person to board the boat when they were betraying the boss and he was eating four slices of cake at his introduction.

First time in a long time since a character's death has made me tear a little, maybe because I'm so connected with the series and the characters.

Abbacchio was my favorite character after Gio and Bucciarati. RIP comrade! That boss is something else, even though he killed him I don't resent him any less because he plays his role as a villain well. Although it seems his plan has failed since Abbacchio has managed to uncover him a bit.

Damn, I'll always be loyal to this series even no matter what!

The previous episode is among the best anime battles I have ever seen and this tragic episode was executed with perfection especially the afterlife part. The last time I felt so sad watching JoJo was when that bastard dog Iggy and Avdol died.

Honestly, I never really liked Abbacchio as a character all that much, but damn if this didn't get me crying, mostly through Narancia's reactions. The animation was so good as well. If two recap episodes is the price we have to pay for animation this good, then that's more than fair.
Anyway, super hyped for what's coming next, assuming my vague memory of the manga is correct.

My Boi Risotto didn’t die easily. It’s quite rare to have a villain with limited screen time being that respected & loved by the fans even though he’s defeated. That's how Araki portrays his characters.
The effect when KC blew away 0.5 second was kinda a let down. Fancy as it was, it’s not as clear as the way it’s presented in the manga imo.

The scenes where Abbacchio cried with relief because of his partner’s words & where the crew struggled to accept his death were beautifully handled. I’m not a huge fan of Abbacchio, so I was not that emotional when reading about his death. But the 2 scenes made me teary thanks to the fantastic performance of Narancia’s voice actor, especially when he shouted “Are we just going to leave Abbacchio all alone?”.
Seeing Abbacchio resting in peace with smile on his face when the sunshine came out of clouds is the only thing comforting.

I thought we’re gonna have a recap ep next week, but I felt unsure after seeing the title. Are we gonna have THAT chapter animated this early? Probably not, it would be another title if that’s gonna happen.

Same. I remember being shocked at how quickly it all went down when I read the manga. But the anime, oh man! I couldn't keep a dry eye when Narancia was losing it. DP did a fantastic job with this episode!

And with that ends the Metallica vs King Crimson arc, which is for all intents and purposes the highlight of Vento Aureo alongside Grateful Dead+Beach Boy. There are still some good moments here and there with Giorno (you know the one) and Mr Turtle, but yeah, don't really expect a bombastic finale like DIO vs Jotaro unless David Pro adds something extra to spice things up, Part 5's finale is not very strong.

That being said, I'm just gonna go ahead and comment that, as of right now, the anime is way better than the manga counterpart, it's just SO GOOD on every level. Voice acting, OST (I really need Risotto's theme, that one is excellent), pacing, the new La Squadra scenes...it's incredible how good adapted this whole thing and it's also a shame that other phenomenal mangas like Berserk, Vagabond, etc can't get this level of attention or passion behind their work.

I just hope they confirm Part 6 at the end of the show so that we may have a chance of seeing Part 7, Araki's masterpiece, in our lifetimes.

I'd say it goes without saying im happy how it was adapted, especially cause I think it perfectly encapsulated why i think specifically the boss was an underrated antagonist, not only is his doppio/the boss personas make for a really entertaining dynamic but the fact that his powers are so crazy it was able to take out a lead character so quickly really sells just how tough an opponent he is.

I mean to be fair, that fight has the exact same problem that part 5's will have so if people werent super bothered by that one they probably will be fine with what part 5 pulls. I also recall at least the lead up to the infamous part being WAAAAY stronger than what part 3 pulled with its final fight, where its lead up was essentially just tossing away characters for the sake of making dio seem stronger than he actually was.

The annoying Narancia's tantrum ruined the moment.
It's like the authors were trying too hard to squeeze emotions from people, overacting Nic Cage style.
Entirely different from the shocking Risotto's defeat from the previous episode, which actually made me feel devastated.
