Mao is so... cute... I fell in love at first sight *_*

(I think it's okay with Shirley.. She is too ordinary for Lulu.)

Poor Shirley. I actually started to like her character in this episode, what with her saving Lelouch and her conflicted feelings about her father's death... And her box of photos.

C.C. looked great in her punk-Lolita outfit! No wonder Mao is so in love with her. :P

Am I the only one who didn't like CC's outfit?

Anyway, great episode. The ending of it was so sad... More on Lelouch than on Shirley. She just forgot while he has to bear with the fact that he made her forget along with "losing her", losing their entire relationship, one that he actually was started to think that might have been love. Damn, this scene almost made me cry.

This episode was kinda sad :( I wonder how he's gonna explain all of that to the student council. Unless Shirley just disappears or something? (O.O)

If that happened I would be very happy.

One of the best eps IMO.

MAO says he never played chess and he won against chess-master LELOUCH. WOW. When his power is shown, we see he didn't lie.

My opinion about the end: FF9 states that to be forgotten is worse than death. Lelouch liked Sherley and she liked him back too, making his action of erasing her memories really altruistic IMO (erasing her memories so she doesn't suffer anymore). At the cemetary, she asks if Lelouch also lost someone, he replies yes. SOOO full of win. There are some things only fiction can do ;)

I thought that Masquerade song was good and really fit the ending. I just wonder what is the english part she sings in the beginning, it's really hard to hear...

I'm sad that Shirley had to lose her memories... but she's just holding Lelouch back now that she knows he's "Zero." Something had to be done. Glad she's alive and well.

.. but wtf is going to happen when they're both back at school? 0_o awkward!

Love the episode. Lelouch and Shirley at the end may be my favorite scene of the first season; it's basically a death scene where no one literally dies.

That said, I don't feel bad for Lelouch. Up to this point, the only person he seems to truly care for is Nunnally; C.C., perhaps, and maybe Suzaku. According to his speech at the end, he does have feelings for her (probably as a good friend) but he never realized them until that moment. That's 13+ episodes where he barely acknowledges her; she is more or less background noise to him. And that's if you take his speech at face value. Maybe it's because of JYB, but it's hard to tell if the guy is being sincere.

The one I feel bad for is Shirley, who has loved Lelouch from the very beginning. So much so that she still loves him after finding out he was more or less responsible for her father's death. What got me was when she told him to stop just as he activated his Geass. If there's a silver lining, though, it's that she does have the opportunity to fall in love with him again.

I'm so sad. ShirleyxLelouch forever :) Shirley was an awesome character, I expect her to be less prominent from now on and it'll move the focus to C.C. Kinda sad, I like Shirley out of all the girls the best.

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO ERASE HER MEMORIES?! YOU LOVED HER MANN! D':
Her screaming no was really cool I think. I think she knew what the Geass was from Mao, she must have felt that that power was wrong, and nobody should use it. Kinda cool because I feel the same way :)

I can't really explain Lelouch's feelings for Shirley. I said before he loved her, but it's something I kinda stretch because I think they're awesome together. They're really close friends you can see by the speech at the end though :')

I really liked this episode. It is sad but i think it makes sense that he erased her memories, that way in the future he doesn't have to worry about hurting her again, so it was in his best mind to do that.

Absolutely. When it comes to events like these it's best to cut ties so it won't end up hurting you in the future. A bit of a cruel concept I know, but it has to be done. :(

But wow, just an absolute amazing episode!

This really infuriated me? I'm really angry that he just took away all of her memories like that - without even trying to do something about the situation. I feel sorry for Lelouch, and I know what he did was really hard and upsetting for him, but I'm also really annoyed with him as well.

The ending... I never realized how much Lelouch cared for Shirley! When she clung to him and was crying because she thought she killed someone, and how Lulu told her HE would carry her sins for her...damn Lulu! Just when I had decided I disliked you!
The ending was so sad, but... did Lelouch really love Shirley? It seems not even he knew the answer. Most probably he'd never thought about it before, dense as he is. But when he said: "how many times her smile saved me"...you can tell there was something more than frienship, right there.

Seriously, am I the only one that thinks Lelouch was acting cowardly when he took away her memories (if that was what happened, it might have been a fake sortie)? I mean, why not, FOR ONCE, try to stand by your actions? He's still awesome, anyway. I hope Mao dies. Maybe with that friend of Lulu's. They're both annoying. I vote for C.C. to rule the world.

Hmm although it makes sense to a point why Lulu would erase all her memories of him, such as he didn't know that the Britannian soldier lady went to talk to Shirley about Lulu. If he had only erased her recent memories, then she would still suspect him. And he probably didn't know how far ago that memory was or something...I think. Otherwise, I still think it's utter BS that he selfishly erased her memory of him. Yes they had some fun together (except really, before, it wasn't as if they were BFFs or anything...) so that it hurts him too by erasing her memories of him, but she didn't have a say in all of this. Someone said his action was altruistic. Yeah right. I'm sure Shirley, despite all the suffering she went through and still would've gone through, she would have never wanted to forget Lulu. /rant

Yes I haven't been fond of Lulu at all, but I guess I still don't hate him yet since he did what he did because he believes that it would make Shirley no longer have to suffer; basically his intentions were good. But that doesn't make his action right, because he took away her memories without her consent, it's like taking away her freedom to remember someone she loved. If he only erased the recent stuff, I can still understand, but he went too far. :/

Anyways, that Mao guy was weird. He had recordings of CC's voice and listens to them constantly? Looks like Nina isn't the only creepy obsessive person ;)

I thought it was kinda extreme (or should i say that it felt like he did it to drama purposes) to take all of his memories of him away but if you think about what is at stakes then it's not surprising why he did it.
