The tears.....they won't stop gushing out.....

Anyways, another superb chapter. The dramatics aside, I found Garp's speech about Roger and Ace's similarities to his father to be enlightening.

I thought it was more about Luffy, when I read it. Selfish, Ill tempered etc :P That's Luffy =D

Also, you guys reckon there's still a chance Sabo might be alive? Wouldn't surprise me if *somehow* Dragon saves him

Oh, don't me wrong, I wasn't in any way discounting Luffy's role in the chapter, I was just much more surprised (and pleased) at how Garp defined how he perceived Roger and how Ace is similar to him. That aspect just struck more of a cord with me.

Hard to tell if Sabo's still alive since he hasn't (so far) displayed anything remotely resembling superhuman qualities, like Luffy and Ace. Then again, if Sabo survived that blast without any outside help, that might change how I feel about the development. From Luffy's point-of-view, he believes he's dead - and that justifies his grief. But we saw it from the reader's POV, there better be a coherent explanation of how he survived that, otherwise it would just be a contrived way of manipulating the reader's emotions.

I kinda expected sabo to died since the beginning of this arc since he was nvr mentioned before. Though, they nvr showed his dead body, so it is possible that he's still alive. And now that I think about its probably quite likely that he's still alive since in most shonen mangas if they dont show the body they are probably still alive.

I'd like to believe (beyond evidence & reason) that Sabo's still alive and that Luffy could meet him again. Unbelievable, the Tenryuubito(sp?) never fail to meet my expectations. It took no time for that guy to turn into a complete asshole and blow away the ship. >:-(

"It's not that he didn't run, he didn't let the enemy run". Roger the man!

Nice chapter. I think the flash back arc is gonna end soon. Ace and Luffy thought that Sabo was dead. That might be the story of tattoo on Ace's arm. But I have hopes that Sabo survived somehow, and Luffy will meet him eventually [that's if the flashback arc doesn't show more of Sabo]

Also, maybe Sabo was taken in by Dragon.

Maybe he's some hotshot in the Revolutionary army now.

In fact, this might be him. Long long shot though. Curly, light colored hair, pointed nose (shaped a bit different but that could be attributed to age), a hat. You never know. Oda might be foreshadowing again.

I think most of us agree that there is a possibility of Sabo being alive, but I can't say it would be a cheap trick by Oda. I see this chapter mostly as a way to show us how strong was the bond, not only between Luffy and Ace, but between the 3 brothers.

About the lack of shown superhuman abilities by Sabo, there's a scene in which Luffy, Ace and Sabo do some battles, and the score showed Ace with 50 wins, Sabo with 49 and Luffy with 0 (or something like that), so it seems Sabo is as strong as Ace.

Who the hell is the Giraffe? Couldn't be the CP9 dude :o

And I think he might still be alive. Also think this is the end of the flashback arc. With the "no chapter next week"

If the other guy...in Arabasta, damn I can't remember his name...survived there is a big possibility that Sabo is alive still.
Also, if I remember correctly, he and Ace were infamous in the area, so he must be strong too.

Am I the only one who's happy that this little flashback is (not officially) over? It was getting too long already.

Sabo's death was kind of an obvious event after knowing that the celestial dragons were coming and he was sailing off that same day. Tragedy was bound to happen. Those celestial dragon guys only appear to be major assholes, so it was expected.

Anyway it wouldn't surprise me if he was saved by Dragon, but I'm more interested in the Strawhat reunion to be sincere :P.

Wow, totally called it. But it makes me wonder why Luffy wasn't as pissed as he probably should have been when he learned of the dragons. Almost like this back story was an after thought, or Luffy was never told exactly who killed Sabo.
I reject your reality, and substitute my own.

Loved it. I think at the time Luffy was a bit too young to fully understand it all. And still he's not the type to hate every single one of a group just because a select few pissed him off. He was pretty calm about the dragons untill Hachi was shot.

Also this shows Luffy knew about the dragons.

Oh and look at that symbol on Sabo's letter, then on the tatoo on Ace's arm ;)

So this concludes the flashback arc.

This was a really good chapter. I'm expecting Sabo to be alive somewhere since it doesn't really look like he will die just like that.

It's kinda sad that there's no chapter next week, though I expect that the week after that will begin the reunion of the Straw Hats.
This is a signature.

Same here. Oda's writing and the way he is able to put things into words is just amazing.

And I am a little skeptical over Sabo being "supposedly" dead. We usually see dead bodies when someone dies, or are given a proper goodbye, his ship was just attacked. If Sabo knows how to swim, I can imagine him swimming to safety.

And I hate how there is a break next week. Will Dragon attack the Tenryuubito? Etc. etc.

I love how everyone's saying the flashback arc is over. Honestly I think one more chapter. Ace going off to become a pirate and all, tying this part of Luffy's past with the flashbacks we got at the beginning of the manga, when he started living in Windmill Village again, and when he met Shanks. If they tie that together, I will worship Oda forever.

Another great chapter that displays Oda's ability to pull up with the backstories. Genius.

Anyway, Sabo's dead [though i still hope he somehow got away] and i hope this arc ended, or is at least close to an end.
Liked the parallel between Ace and Roger.

Also, if Luffy finds out the Tenryuubito killed Sabo, there's gonna be some mega-rampage next time he meets them xD

That happened already, Luffy ate the fruit in the windmill village, Shanks left and gave him the straw hat, gramps took Luffy and brought him to Ace and the others.

Oda can make the unexpected happen to make a fantastic story, characters who no one would ever think of dieing die... and others live, it wouldn't surprise me if we see Sabo as an adult, with his own crew in the the new world.
