According to J-Cast, Josei Jishin magazine caught and interviewed Yazawa Ai when she returned home from the hospital. She said she is getting a lot better than before. "It's not an incurable disease. My doctor says it'll take long and I'll recover gradually." However, she also disclosed that she hasn't held a pen since she fell ill and the outlook for her return is still uncertain.

The serialization of NANA has been suspended since June 2009 due to Yazawa's illness. The name of the illness hasn't been revealed.

Thank you Jesus that there is finally news about Ai Yazawa! I've been going crazy ever since news broke that she was hospitalized. I'm SO happy that she is doing better and my prayers have been answered. Although it may be awhile until she starts writing for Nana again, I'm just happy she's okay and I hope that she'll be ready to write as soon as she is up to it.

Hope she gets better. I loved NANA and it would be a major disappointment if the manga and/or the anime aren't completed.

We finally get some type of news about NANA though its not the best news, but still good to find out what's been going on.

Glad the hear she has been released from the hospital, which is a sign she is at least on the road to recovery, which is always good news :)

I wish her well

Thank god it's not an incurable disease. I was expecting the worst, since we haven't heard any news for so long.

I hope the long break didn't influence her drawing style.

Yokata!

At least now we know she's getting better, and that it was a real illness, not just her being fed up with NANA, like some rumours said. And thank God it's not an incurable disease!

I was literally screaming when I read this news. I'm so happy that she is at least out of the hospital because she was in there close to a year. I hope that she makes a full recovery soon. It saddens me that she is unsure if she'll finish NANA but her health comes first so that's the number one priority. If she does continue NANA, that would be awesome. But if she doesn't, especially due to health issues, I would completely understand.

May all prayers from all denominations of good health go with her. Regardless of whether she holds a pen (I wish) again is not important right now. I want her well and healthy. I don't want dtshyk writing anything but good news about her. Please only good news...

Oh wow, she was in the hospital this whole time? That alone has got to be tough. Now that she's home I hope she can start to truly feel better, since it really is impossible to fully recover in the hospital setting. Best of wishes to her.

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

Ever the pessimist, I'd like to point out that cancer isn't an incurable disease.

Thankfully, we at least know it's not terminal.

Well I am not much of a NANA fan. becuase my mom probably would kill me if she saw me reading a book labeled explicit content. lol but im really glad to see that everyone is happy for her and that she is making a steady recovery. although im sorry to say this but her drawing will be different. not drawing or writing anything in about a year has to do some change.

Yeah.. I think it cost time to rebuild her drawing style.

It's been really long time since last chap. I've read lately that author is not sure if she will continue nana. I just can't beleve it. I don't even want to think that thing like that could happen. To end such story at this point without revealing all things..Naah it needs ending..
