It's a realistic ending. Takopi couldn't fix the root cause of their problems, which was the adults in their lives. But he was able to mend their relationship. The value is in their friendship. They are not alone anymore, they have each other, someone who understands them and they can trust. This is enough for them to not feel hopeless for the future and eventually help each other to get out of their situations.

The ending was good but I'm tired of people slandering Takopi and calling him the villain/ root cause of everything even tho he was the one who saved both marina and shizuka.

im 50/50 on it because im not a fan of deus ex machina endings and wouldve preferred a sad ending but at the same time aside from the magical takopi power it was satisfying enough for me to give the show a 9/10

The ending is still sad tbh. Now they just share the trauma.

Answer: no

Most people who liked the ending of Takopii don't know how to accurately analyze the plot of any existing series.

Yes. The sacrifice kinda comes out of nowhere, but the ending itself is perfectly coherent with the story and its message. This was the story of Takopi and it ends when he finally realizes the complexity of the human condition and his own impotence in saving everyone through his misguided attempts. He was instead able to help Shizuka and Marina by being there for them when they needed him, and the memory of his silly but benevolent company is what allows them to make the first step towards a better life.

Yes.

I was perplexed at first when I saw yet another time rewind in the last episode, but the scar on Marina's face reassured me that it didn't literally "fix everything". A bittersweet ending that is very easily mistaken for an undeserved happy one.

I enjoyed the anime as a whole, but not the ending. While it wasn't horrible, it wasn't good either since everything got resolved with "magic" pretty lazily. This needed a few more episodes to end it more coherently without the "magic" part, this needed 12 episodes minimum, but it's not the anime's fault; it's the manga's fault. The anime did everything that it could to elevate the source material, and it did. I was satisfied with it. I haven't even read the manga, but I know for a fact that the anime is already better.

It's a great anime, and I still rated it a 10/10, but the ending needed more work.

Not really i don't like super emotional roller coaster shows to end with these lighthearted and "happy" endings it lost all of it's emotional weight in the last episode.

Very much, but now I'm theorizing, What if everything after Takopi was hit it's just an illusion, a memento mori from our octopus regrets, very dark to me, but makes sense with the leaps from one scenario to another and the explanation why Takopi magically can sacrifice itself to fix the camera. IDK, makes me think a lot.

It was a bit of a deus ex machina, but after everything those kids went through I don't know if I'd be ok if the ending wasn't happy. I get that real life doesn't have a magical octopus rewinding time for you so you can fix your problems, but it was just so much. Ideally I'd like another episode to at least give this happy ending a bit more time to cook, but I'll take what I can get. Any more pain and suffering and it would've turned into edgy doom porn, so I'm glad it didn't go down that route. Again, could have been better, but could have been worse too.

Felt like we could have done with seeing how Shizuka and Marina's friendship blossomed and what (if any) changes occurred in their families. Like, it's implied that the situation remains the same despite them being chummy at the end, so I dunno.

I... didn't really f with it I'm not gonna lie. Yes I know its magic and all that but it feels like TOO much of an ass pull for Marina and Shizuka, in the state that they were in, to just have a little cry and become best friends.
I think I would have liked to have Takopi be a bit more involved in their relationship, having seen both their circumstances, actively try and get them to understand and empathise with each other. At least, that was what I expected from the opening animation with Takopi using the red string to tie them together.

She didn’t kill Takopi. It just made it seem like that through the direction. He got smashed on the head causing him to get his memories back

Maybe because Takopi used his own vital energy? The other attempts used the magic devices solely, but this time, he had to imbue it with his energy.

What they haven't explained is why the boy has the glasses his brother bought him in the other timeline.

You're not gonna get a simple answer yes or no from me.

Personally, I'm conflicted. on one hand, I really liked how Takopi gave up on them, by coming to terms with the fact that he simply cannot do anything to the children other than maybe make their problems slightly less bad.
However, on the other hand. The way the ending was presented isn't the greatest. I saw it as the writer being forced by someone to write a happy ending, because of the Deus Ex Machina time travel and that everything just wraps up so quickly, like how Shizuka suddenly makes up with Marina seconds after she was beaten up by her, just because they happened to remember an octopus saying some silly stuff to them.

But If you really want a simple yes or no answer, then I'll say yes.
Even though I found the ending not great, it still gave me a satisfying conclusion to the series, and more importantly hope. Hope that these children will reach adulthood togetherπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ .

@bluebluecat In the previous timeline, Azuma received those glasses as a gift after finally opening up to his brother about his problems. He also told Takopi that, if Takopi traveled back in time, he should tell him not to be afraid of talking to his brother.
Him receiving the same glasses in the previous timeline shows that Takopi succeeded in getting bringing Azuma closer to his brother than ever before.

The ending was perfect. Tacopi actually fixed both of them, by removing himself from their lives. He only left a shard of memory behind, and that was all it needed to accomplice his goal. He was there but he also wasn't at the same time, that s how magic works, that s what everyone needs to help him grow emotionally.

I feel like all the emotional build up and all the things that happened just... it don't matter in the end. Feels like it was all thrown away. So much changed but nothing changed at all. The ending feels lackluster and rushed.

I was personally hoping for a sad ending but that said, I wasn't against Marina and Shizuka ending up as friends... I just wish it was done better.

It was a good anime but the ending didn't live up to the rest of the other episodes in my opinion.

In long could have been better if it wasn't rushed. Compared to outstanding 5 episodes last one pales in comparison.

It’s not perfect but I absolutely loved the ending. Yes the time travel was a cop out but after all they’ve been through these children deserved a “happy” ending. I also appreciated how Takopi didn’t just magically solve all their problems in the end and acknowledged that giving them a new starting point was all he could do for them.

“To all of you in 2016. There were so many things I couldn’t do for you all. Family members that left you and feelings you can’t ever get back. Your mama won’t acknowledge you and your papa isn’t just your papa anymore. There’s nothing I can do, but I hope that you… and you… and you… None of you are alone anymore so I hope you all reach adulthood together.”

Takopi’s concluding monologue perfectly summarizes the bittersweet reality of healing. Some wounds leave scars and you can’t erase the past but companionship and a second chance can carry you towards a better future despite the pain that came before.

No, absolute garbage. While it’s kinda the happy ending Takopi wanted, the way it was done is lame, with “happy magic”: Mari-chan magically stopped with stabbing Shizuka in the eye because she saw a vaguely familiar doodle and they became besties, Azuma magically have started hanging out with the brother. No real actions by anyone involved, just deus ex machina.

Yes, I liked the ending. I've seen people complain that Shizuka and Marina becoming friends is "rushed and random" but I disagree. They don't become friends randomly, they become friends by bonding over their shared trauma. Incidentally, they ended up doing what Takopi was hoping they'd do the whole time and "talk to each other." We didn't need to have two or three additional episodes showing us Shizuka and Marina's friendship develop, it was fine seeing an abridged version from Takopi's POV.

To the people complaining about the ending being unrealistic, let's not forget we're talking about elementary school kids. It IS that easy when you're a child to get along with someone with the tiniest change! And surely they both know that they only project their parent's doing, just like Marina later realized when talking with Takopi she was hurting him because this is how she had been taken care of... Anyway, it is a nice ending, and an even nicer message conveyed by the whole. Even if everything around you is wrong, you can believe in something and make your way out of it.
