I was mostly just so sad watching EOE because of what happened to Misato so that ended up souring me for the whole movie at first 🤣 watching it for the second time was like watching a different movie and now I appreciate everything about it. it was also disappointing to me at first because I really loved the finale for the series, but now I understand that they don't cancel each other out. it sounds weird, but I have a lot of respect for works that challenge me and elicit strong emotions (good or bad): that's why I'm a fan of School Days. or... maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment!

you'll get more out of the links if you're familiar with the show, I think :) on one of my many rewatches I read the essay after each episode and that was a pretty fun way to watch.

I can definitely understand what you mean! Utena is something that gets even better on a rewatch but there are definitely things that I still don't understand. I was the same way when I first watched The End of Evangelion, I didn't really know what to make of it because I was in shock and didn't understand a lot of what happened. but, when I rewatched the show and then EOE again, it all came together. as you can probably tell, I love works that give the viewer a lot of questions!

Yeah, I watched S1 when it was new and loved it. Apparently S2 is like the worst thing ever made though so I just skipped it completely.

Yeah I've seen part of the first episode and the CGI looks pretty clean. Looks like you just finished promised neverland S1, do you plan on watching S2?

Well, we live outside of Japan and watch (read) everything regardless of demographic or genre, so I really don't think things like "hey, it's shonen and you're 30+" should really bother us.
