Even Azuma knows that his own family is not exempt from the massive scale of Marina's murder investigation, with Takopi finally having known his original mission to kill Shizuka, but yet, couldn't find a reason to do so after her treating him with kindness. It's the same with Azuma having known his own sin to realize that saving Shizuka is a possibility, which did not turn out to be the case, and even more so for his older brother Junya to take over the family clinic. Even he shows the exact same expressions of Shizuka to Takopi with the Happy Gadget, which the octopus finally plucks his courage to stand against the bullied-turned-villain girl coming back to exact her murder.

Still, Takopi admitting that he did not try to understand the girl who wanted someone to understand and reach out their hands towards her, it's a culmination of devastation that can only be felt by only the both of them. And his sacrifice towards her to use the Happy Camera to turn back time to the picture he took of her when they met the very first time and which quickly became friends at that, it was a sacrifice to go back to 2016 and right the wrongs of the future they created and manifested.

With time turned back to 2016, Takopi finally understood what's going on between both Shizuka and Marina, as well as Azuma, and this time, it's his presence (like a drawing) that draws the bully and her victim ever closer, with the hope that they will grow into decent adults (which both girls do, thanks to the collective imagination of Takopi).

Such a 2-volume manga, turned into one of the most unadulterated, uncensored and poignant masterpiece stories of our time.
Simply put, this is pure gold.

My god, six episodes in and Takopii is still the same annoying mess he was at the start. He finally got his memories back last episode, and yet he's still going around saying things like, "DoN't YoU WaNna SeE ShIzUkA HaPPy?" Like seriously? Please for the lvoe of god, FUCKING STOP. At least Azuma showed some actual development. Meanwhile, Takopii hasn’t changed a bit, still clinging to this version of Shizuka that barely even feels like Shizuka anymore.

But ofc, since it’s the final episode and we have to force a happy ending, we somehow manage to change the mind of a literal murderer in under three minutes, because that totally makes sense. And then we reset the timeline, effectively making everything that happened completely pointless. What a joke. Oh, and somehow Marina and Shizuka magically remember Takopii after all that, just conveniently enough to give us a feel-good bonding moment at the end.

God, the show was already awful, but this ending honestly rivals disasters like Darling in the FranXX, truly. And the similarities are hard to ignore, both are carried almost entirely by their animation, with everything else falling apart. That said, I’m still genuinely curious to see where the studio goes from here. ENISHIYA is easily one of the most interesting new companies to emerge this decade. I just hope their next project actually lives up to their potential instead of being another frustrating waste of talent.

Ahhhh Takopi, a messed up story with every character having their flaws, no real villain except the parents and Takopi had to suffer the consequences 😪

I feel bad for Takopi. Bro is just a young naive kid wanting to spread happiness. At least he ultimately achieved his missions across timeline to make both Marina and Shizuka happy.

Years of neglect, abuse and naivety culminated in a sacrifice, there's no changing the past no matter how hard one tries. The suffering of a lifetime and the scars that wouldn't heal, no remedies to it only reconsoliation, to suffer the sin together instead of alone.

How do you even summarize this show

Honestly it's a remarkable package for such a short anime. The things it makes you feel and the genuine surprise developments every episode, it's all just so good

Actual anime of the year frontrunner atm. Did not think I would say that coming into it

Finaaally! After six long weeks, one of the best shows has come to an end!
Honestly, I really want to share my thoughts, but I’m a bit hesitant to express my opinion about the final episode too openly...

But what I can say is this:
The series is Very Very GOOD — I enjoyed every moment from start to finish!
That’s why I’ll be sharing my humble review — I hope you like it!
And if you did like it, react with an emoji! It’ll motivate me to keep going. 👇

Thank you, Takopi!
Thank you for this wonderful series!

Oh man this was something. Amazing adaptation. If the manga was like a 7.5 or something then the anime elevated it to an 8.5/10 maybe.

To this 6 episodes of child misery we got a happy ending I guess. Well at least they made it to highschool? They're parents are still shit but at least they're still alive. Takopi I'll miss you maybe.

Oh man, I didn't think there would be a happy ending, but I can't lie, I'm crying because I'm so happy they could work it out somehow.

And is this the same ending that the manga had or something different?

What the hell T_T I cried, then I stop before I cried again. This anime plays with my little heart and I'm glad it's ending like this, but I will totally miss this T^T

Either way, I admit that Junya and Takopi are the MVPs in this anime.

Thank you, Takopi, now I'll try my best to be happy and not to become an adult who make this world seems evil for children in the future. I'll be happy :')

The ending is quite deus ex machina. Not all problems are solved, but all the serious problems (like murder) are gone.

I feel like this is more suitable for theatrical release of around 2-hours something rather than a TV series so that people can watch the whole thing in just one time, but at least it has only 6 episodes. Still, I assume I'll be much more satisfied if it's movie instead.

The anime was almost perfect, each episode was exceptional, the concept was nice even if they could have explored it more. I like the ending, these children all deserve their happy endings. Despite their bad actions, they are all children who are victims of their parents' incompetence. Anime of the year for me.

“People can be good and bad at the same time” therein lies the true message of this story. It’s messy, it’s hard to watch, but at the end of the day it’s a story about broken people perpetuating the cycle of violence and abuse. The word “masterpiece” gets thrown around a lot these days, but this is truly the textbook definition of a masterpiece. Studio Enshiya and everyone involved in this made not just one of the best anime of the year, but one of the best anime ever made and more importantly, they’ve challenged us all to be more empathetic and kinder.

There’s a lot I loved about this finale, but I’m going to focus on two scenes that encapsulate what made this story so special. The first is Shizuka’s breakdown on Takopi. “What else could I have done? I don’t have a grown up to look after me. They all told me I stink but where do I stink?” Is one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever heard and exactly why I will always defend Shizuka’s crash out. She had absolutely NO ONE on her side to stick up for her or even teach her how to deal with things. How could you EVER blame someone when they were never taught an alternative? While Marina was abused, at least she had a dad(sometimes) and a mom(half the time before one of her episodes), Shizuka had her dog and the clothes on her back. Some of the best voice acting you’ll hear this year in that scene.

Takopi’s “I’m sorry I can’t do anything for you” line broke me too because it’s a reminder that Takopi himself is just a scared little kid who comes from a planet where everyone’s happy and kind. This is all a new experience for him and he doesn’t have anyone to talk to or get advice from either. He was too pure for this world. His farewell to Shizuka was such a profound scene. In his last moments, all he wanted was for his two friends to finally understand one another.

And that they did. As I’ve been saying since episode 3 or so, the only way this was ever going to end was Takopi somehow getting Marina and Shizuka to understand one another and become friends. They both have so much in common and their mutual pain could be the foundation of a beautiful lifelong friendship, which it seems like it is now in the post credits scene. I absolutely love the moment where Marina and Shizuka realize their souls still remember takopi and they just start crying together. You can see the moment they become friends.

“To you, my dearest, I hope you find what you want.” What a powerful send off to one of the most emotionally taxing and painful watches ever. It showed the worst in humanity, but also gave us a blueprint on how to become better. Takopi might be a fictional alien, but there’s real life lessons we can take away from this and I hope everyone reflects and will go on to try and understand people and be kinder.

P.S my only issue with this ending is the parents really got no consequences and will probably never change. Both the girls should’ve been taken by cps. While the girls are innocent, the parents should’ve been arrested/marina’s mom needs to be committed to a psychiatric facility.

Junya was already an absolute shining light amongst the grown ups but man, the full weight of his sacrifice finally hit with Azuma's farewell. I couldn't be happier that Takopi remembered his wish when it came time for his turn to say goodbye.

Jeez, man. It's crazy how much of an emotional rollercoaster a show can take you on in just six episodes.

I guess "a small amount of kindness can lead to surprising changes in ppl" would be the most charitable read? that's the furthest one can get with all the adults remain fucking useless till the end.
jp really need to get over the "bully and the bully victims make up equals friends" narrative smh
