I watch anime in 720p or 1080p. Is that sufficient?

Always 1080p until 4k becomes the norm. Hell right now most anime as it is is produced in 720p and then upscaled to 1080p.

The highest one I can possibly watch it in. Rarely do I watch sometihing below 1080p.

I prefer 1080. If not, maybe 720. But preferably the highest possible.

1080p if possible, only compromising on 480p if the only 1080p remaster(s) are cropped from their original aspect ratio. I'll never bother with 4k, since I'll never have one, and my internet sucks too much ass to justify torrenting anything above my screen resolution. I will happily compromise on even lower resolutions if there's no other option, though. Like Kasumin, which seemingly only exists as a VCD rip.

The highest quality possible that i can find it available in, preferably that is 1080p or 720p, though, for really old anime that cannot be found at these resolutions, i'm willing to go lower as long as it still looks decent.

360-1080 depends on player and anime, as some older anime won't have 1080p. Sometimes I also watched in 144-240 of bad livestreams of Tv Tokyo which didn't have any better quality or other media which weren't available at any better quality.

The lowest I remember watching - 144p SAO II Gun Gale Online arc on my phone with crap wi-fi so I could only afford 144. The highest is just any new show which have a player with 1080.

I just watch in whatever resolution the anime websites decide to give to me.

Ok, now that I think about it my anime watching setup is literally my laptop hooked up to this like random 15 year old toshiba tv I got from the thrift store, so I guess 720p? But that's just bc I literally CAN'T go higher on the tv lmao

1080p. Even old titles that were originally 480i. My AVR does a really decent job of upscaling. And having lived through the days of pirates on CGA monitors, I'm here to tell you that's a blessing.

Depends on what's available. 1080 is the highest my Monitor or TV can do though. I'm not above watching in 240p

1080p every time, HEVC x265, x264 if I can't find it. Last option is 720p. Never 4k, just destroys the original intended frame rate.

I pretty much always get the very best possible - Like REMUX whenever it's available. (for movies)

So mostly, that will come down to 1080p for most anime series. I typically take HEVC with the best bitrates, whichever's the highest and looks best (bit of a qualitycuck).
Then, watch it on 4k with real-time upscaling using Anime4K and a lot more custom shaders (they are great!) for pretty much all modern anime. I have a hard time watching modern ones without them anymore (like in phones), as there is a noticeable downgrade that just doesn't sit right.
I'll take the best I can get for older anime titles.

Never 4k, just destroys the original intended frame rate.

Upscaling will never change the framerate unless you do it intentionally. I don't touch frame rates either, as most of 'em look pretty iffy for now.

I can deal with watching low-res options if I have to but 720+ is obviously preferable.

1080p or 720p with older stuff anything goes, as it still mostly looks alright. [but not below 360p]

1080p: When a screen/monitor can maximize it or when the Anime's visuals benefits from it.
720p: If the screen/monitor is able to make it look good enough with proper optimization, and not much to lose with the Anime's visuals.
480p: If the animation and/or art quality of a show is flat/bland, if I don't care much for the show I'm watching, or if I'm watching a show on background.
(I have yet to experience and need anything above 1080p so, not much to say about those.)

Resolution is never an issue for me because any Anime that isn't some seasonal contemporary release that is currently streaming, I will always consume on Official Physical media that isn't offered on any of the current popular Official streaming platforms. If I have an Anime DVD that was natively produced at 480p, one of my 65" BRAVIA smart TVs around my house will automatically upscale the video to the monitors native resolution without any drawbacks in actual noticeable visual quality loss. Unlike Anime in 480p from a common video file format snagged off the internet where artifacts, stuttering, wobbly motions, etc... will likely be present when being upscaled in real time. Where trying to do the same thing with 480p Anime ripped off some shady site off internet being played on the same TV monitor things like really low bitrates to even really horrible encoding will ruin my viewing experience (which is why I don't even waste my time with that shit).

Anime streaming at 1080p on platforms like CR, HiDive, Netflix, etc... still look great on any of my 65+" BRAVIA smart TVs in my house because all the TVs in my house support basically almost every current Official platform in my region that offers Japanese Anime. While even Anime streaming that is native to 1080p looks nice even on a 4k+ monitor, there is still limitations to doing this if the video file source is bad to begin with even on official platforms (which isn't often since I am just using them for current seasonal Anime and nothing more).

1080p mostly. My TV does upscale it a bit but I rarely watch on TV.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

all modern animes must be watched in 1080p. anything lower is unacceptable and an insult to the creators.

Almost all I watch is 1080p. Either official streaming quality (Crunchyroll) or Blu-rays.

pretty sure it was only like 3 parts because each upload was restricted to 10 minutes max

anyway, serious answer, i just watch whatever resolution i get, which was traditionally 480p but is nowadays higher because these days i'm prioritizing higher-quality fansubs rather than just grabbing the lowest filesize. but i still like low filesizes.

@BatoKusanagi I had to do it physically. I don't miss it, since there are several shows I'll never find complete versions of. This was back in my Hastings Rental days in 2001-2002. Only a little nostalgia, but I wouldn't do it again!

I'm used to watch anime and everything else in 360p because of slow internet or up to 576p because of DVDs. Nowadays I no longer have slow internet, but I simply kept using 360p as my standard for streaming.
Maybe I'm weird, but when watching anime I don't feel like I need to waste higher bandwidth just to see more detailed animation/outline artifacts ☺️

720p? That’s for casuals. I like counting sakuga frames and admiring the glint on a blade mid-swing like it’s a Rembrandt brushstroke.
Also for the Backgrounds pop, I love to take screenshots of Those hyper-detailed scenerys in slice of life or travelling anime, they are Absolute wallpaper material at 1080p.

Mainly 720p and only rarely 1080p for those who have really high detail. Most are only drawn in 720p to begin with. Would be nice if they just distributed it in native resolution but even 720p is slightly upscaled sometimes. Upscaling causes artifacts except in cases of CG where they render it in that resolution. For older anime 480 can be alright but 576 is better if it fan be found for ones without better releases.
