Adorable hilarious episode, as usual. Loved the organized crime theme first half, with Tom having the time of his life dreaming about his future with Nooko, just cuz she fed him a piece of cake during his birthday, only for him to get offed a few minutes later and for her to never be heard of again, haha.

Also, as expected of Shouta, as soon as Reina just don't show up for the first few minutes of class, bro just goes all in in terms of the extreme imagination, imagining Reina turning into Lain, uploading her existence online and whatnot, just cuz her town was an Egghead lookin' ahh town, haha, only to find out Ren was the one who actually built up all of that. I mean, i don't blame him, it was the future island, in a literal sense, nonetheless, was hilarious.

Now, the second half was the most hilarious one, with delinquent Shouta scaring everyone, even the usual high & mighty Eru. All the while being actually more generous that he'd ever be during his normal state. I pity the esteem teacher bro, she couldn't last a single second as the mere look of delinquent Shouta side-hugging Reina, being all like: "yeah, she's mine, got a prob sensei?", aura farming in the classroom, never been heard of before, haha.

Reina was so cute, she tried to go through with it as to not hurt Shouta, but when she couldn't take it anymore, she flew to her home in an instant, haha, was so hilarious. That aside, loved when he just casually came back immediately jumping the fridge, taking his little sister's pudding, she says "it's mine!", he says "oho? say aah", she's like "nvm!", was so hilarious, loved how he scared even her too when she's just as high & mighty as Eru.

Speaking of Shouta's little sister, what's wrong with him being happy that you're actually showing interest in his life? In your own words, "we don't really talk that much", so he's happy you were starting to do so, only for you to call him creepy? Whatever's wrong with that girl? You sure you're not weird one? That aside, loved the bit when as soon as he realized the drink had no alcohol, he just instantly goes back to normal, haha. Would've loved delinquent Shouta for a bit more though, not that i'm complaining or anything, but bro was aura, his usual self is hilarious, but this self was a masterpiece.

It is a game episode and Raido is killing it. That is until he visits Aharen's town. It is more like a big metropolis. Raido can be so different once consumed alcohol though he was mistaken from the amazake he taken by mistake since there is no alcohol in it.

The Animal Crossing bit went on way longer than I thought it would, but I honestly loved it, they really got the style down and even included a Tom Nook character, and then it turned into Yakuza with Tom getting gunned down, yeah that’s not something that can happen in the real game but could you imagine lol. And I had a feeling Aharen would have a god tier island, and yep, of course she does lol, and leave it to Raido to create another insane story about it, might be one of his bests yet, but unfortunately reality is never as great as what Raido can imagine lol, but it’s amazing to think Ren built up that world, that’s some mad gamer cred right there.

And the ego inflated Raido in the second half was really fun, it was reminiscent of when Raido got sick in Season 1, only this was a bit more extreme with an entire personality swap, so many good moments came from it too. And I could see the end of this bit miles away, but Raido’s reaction to the amazake having no alcohol in it was still great, it was like the switch was flipped off lol. And the last bit with Raido’s sister (I just realized she doesn’t have a name) and Eru was really sweet, I’d like to see more of these two together, it’s just unfortunate Raido ruined the moment with his sister after that lol, but it’s funny to know she can get caught in delusions kinda like he does.

And lastly, I wonder if that gravestone that was dated 2009-2018 was a reference to something, haven’t seen anyone else mention it yet.
@TheColonel76 I also think the Animal Crossing reference was a bit tired. It could have spent more time exploring those other pop culture references with a bit more creativity (brutal) instead of focusing that much on one thing.

Some pop culture references in this episode:

I was wondering, what was that a reference for when Raido becomes that mullet-wearing, homeless-looking philosopher?
It was very funny when Raido adopted a placeboed drunk personality.

@Skuvan I think the point is that the sister has a hard time engaging with others because she often jumps to negative conclusions, including her own family. She thinks Aharen's big sis is secretly running a pyramid scheme... brother is creepy because who knows what reason lol. She might have a tendency towards paranoia. But despite these tendencies she still tried asking her brother, so there's some hope for improvement. Deep down she still has a heart.

Yeah, she's literally the exact same as her big brother in terms of immediately jumping to extreme conclusions for each and every scenario, haha.

@Skuvan yes siblings can be very similar sometimes and yet very unique in their own ways. if the sister consistently thinks that way about others then it could mean she has a darker side because paranoia leads to mistrust, isolation, and falling out of sync with reality. on the other hand, her brother also goes to the extreme as you pointed out, but I think this is more about playful imagination than a darker side.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Also:
- Staff: How many references do you want episode's Part A to have?
- Director: Yes.

Great episode. Loved everything about it.
Also hope we can see more of Raidou's sister's school life. Having more interactions between her and Reina's sister would be quite nice. Not to mention it would be an interesting change of pace as well.

Weekly dose of my fave height gap couple, another pure diabetes episode well.. for the most part anyway lol

I’m over here thinking this is gonna be a wholesome animal crossing VR episode and then I see Yakuza Raido watching his best friend get murdered 😭 is that death in my comfort game??

Delinquent Raido at school had me dying tho, I kinda want a full OVA episode of that, the look on Reina’s face when he carried her to school was sooo cute. In fact, his delinquent phase made him more popular with everyone. Freaking lost it when I realized he was only doing that because he thought he’d drank alcohol accidentally and felt like a bad kid lmao.

I love the ending with Eru and Raido’s sister too. If the siblings become besties this show will be even better. Eru obviously can’t stop gushing about her sister, but Raido’s sister is such a tsun tsun. She loves her big brother tremendously tho!

Really cute episode
I feel like even though Nintendo first revealed the final version for the Switch 2 relatively recently, Raidou and Aharen already have one, lmao. So many game parodies in this episode. Never thought someone could combine Yakuza, Cyberpunk, and Animal Crossing into one combo.

@Marinate1016 I don't know if this season will reach that part of the manga, but I bet you'll definitely enjoy the development of their sisters' relationship, lmao.

oh man the first half of the episode really was a how many references would you like? yes moment ahahahahah
I loved that they diverted our expectations with the reference by having Raidou end up making a Yakuza-themed island like man 😂
and the section with the sniper appearing I legit like almost choked on my drink 'cause I was not expecting a stereotypical sappy yakuzaesque death scene of an important character to the plot, then all of a sudden oh yeh I should check out Reina's place ahahahhah
tho it is actually mainly Ren's island, very much Cyberpunk 2077 and I'm pretty sure the bike Raidou rides could be the one from Akira tho I am probably wrong ahahah

makes me wonder tho, a whole compilation of animal crossing referenced in anime (aside from its own anime movie itself) would be a neat video to watch, I'm pretty sure I've seen a fair lot of animal crossing referenced upon in the past, most I remember at the top of my head was that Yuru Yuri referenced it too with the co-op challenges during the 3ds period
Asobi Asobase had a PVP game with cute animals in not sure if it actually did cross-reference animal crossing but as a PVP shooter game or not

even Denki-gai no Honya-san was referenced on the manga cover the younger sister was reading, throwback 'cause that anime was like over 10 years ago ahahah

wonder what the VA's thought about the video game references 'cause I've seen some VA's twitter's before who have played acnh and showed their islands around covid period ahahah

I loved this episode. I’m a huge fan of Animal Crossing, so I love seeing parodies of it in anime. Nook getting a big scar on his head was funny, probably from Raido. 😂 I knew Aharen’s town was going to be amazing but wow 😮

Drunk Raido was wild. I loved how his teeth got all pointy. Bad ass but still being the lovable, kind Raido. And he wasn’t even drunk. Hahaha 😂

It’s nice seeing the sisters meeting. How do they not know that their siblings are dating?

ROFL

Animal Crossing (this was big for a while, but it kinda died off on the West side, but I guess it's still sorta popular in the East side)

Also, Interesting 3D style, actually look like Animal Crossing Graphics

(and Yakuza dress up... is this what Raidou really wanted to be in RL? Imagine if he starts to dress up like this and meets Aharen... lol)

BTW, imagine if this was really VR, and you could experience like how Raidou is viewing it from his character's POV in near first-person 3D. That would be quite interesting.

Also... how did Aharen/ Ren even turn the Island into Cyperpunk? LOL, that's some hardcore Grinding to get all the resources for this.

.

(also, sorta off-topic, but RIP Nintendo... this game (if sequel is made) is gonna cost near 100 USD now, LOL, anyone dishing out their money for this?) (90 base + tax for popular Nintendo games, not even including the DLCs that most Nintendo games now gets (and Nintendo Online's increased pricing), so you have to pay more to play the actual "full" games they used to make 10-ish years ago (when games cost less than 50 and online was free), now they just make like half and leave the other half as DLC)

.

And then Raidou thought he drank alcohol and decided he has to start acting more grown-up-like, LOL. (which is to act like Yakuza...)

He's been aggressive with Aharen that Aharen gets extra shy and overheat about it. (and Sensei died....)

And poor Gyaru is getting scared away.

(BTW, this is funny, cause Alcohol is technically used in a lot of food, "cooking sake" is a thing, and extremely popular in Japan too, so most Japanese including minors are already tasting Alcohol since childhood) (and lets not mention the Russians and their Vodka drinking babies, lol)

Lols, Raido wanting to get into Animal Crossing, and the depiction here is just surreal, just like the game itself with Tom Nook's offshoot and everything. The transition to Yakuza, however, just takes it to a whole other level with the full diving into RPG elements, and also with the Cyberpunk stuff that Aharen's virtual avatar is from that just doesn't compare to Raido's dream. But it turns out Aharen just overslept from her game lols, sharing with her younger sister Ren.

Raido having amakaze sake thinking that it's milk, and him thinking that the alcoholism will hit him hard, it turns him into a gangster personality with all the aggression and endless rizzing on Aharen and company lols, even bringing that to the former's family (though it proves too much for them) to the point of the former getting a nosebleed herself. Back at home, the expression continues, though it's after his sister's assertion that finally calms his nerves down, though it's a stark comparison to Eru.

Welp, the Raido siblings really need to fix their communication skills...

Tom Grainook and Raido might have had their differences, but the way they came together and became the truest of friends was really touching... We won't forget his sacrifice.

Ren is a city builder pro to turn Animal Grainy Crossing into a futuristic society. The Aharens always do seem to have a way with games.
Speaking of family, it looks like Raido's sister also shares his trait of jumping to conclusions. Eru pulling off a pyramid scheme is inconceivable! Unless you're as imaginative as one of those two. Then it's conceivable.

The Animal Crossing turned into a Yakuza game was something I was not expecting, especially with Tom Nook Grainook taking a bullet for Raido. Also, I was wondering why Raido's mom had served 3 glasses of amazake especially if it contained alcohol but it turned out that it doesn't contain any alcohol so Raido acting with a tough look was just a placebo.

Overall a pretty funny episode but I thought the video game part went a bit too long.

Guys when I tell this episode hd me fucking dying in legit not lying man this shit had me laughing so hard man Raido gotta be one of the funniest anime characters of all time man he’s so fucking funny with the way he misunderstands shit hahaha and him acting all delinquent like had me fucking laughing throughout the entire segment bro, I loved how Reina was incapable of even keeping up with how much touching Raido was doing to her😭😭😭

Reina’s face blushing when Raido picked her up was sooooooo cute I love her face when she’s blushing man☺️🥰

The animal crossing parody had me ROLLING MAN that whole Tom Nook shit fucking killed me bro at first he finessed Raido but became a real life long friend to Raido just to get killed off in a dramatic ass way shit caught me so off guard like why bro have to go out like that? And Raido thinking Reina escaped reality and went into the game had me laughing and when he asked her and she was confused killed me bc she probably thinking bros tweaking as usual😭😭😭🤣🤣

Cool that the little sister both go to the same junior high school, I want more moments from the both of them it’s actually cute how they both Ike their siblings but I wanna know her name tho, we know Eru but we still don’t know Raido’s sisters name she’s so cute imo😚

That Animal Crossing/Yakuza parody for half of the episode was shockingly bad. It felt like a "jump the shark" kind of moment similar to the infamous Komi-san Among Us parody arc, and I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come from this second season of this romcom: surely the writers still have actual ideas rather than resorting to shit like this?

Thankfully the second half was a lot better: Raido's idea of a "gangster" personality actually just being really nice and helpful to everyone is a really, really funny twist that so perfectly fits his character as established so far, and seeing him with an actual expression on his face makes a nice change.
