Bat Man eh? That's our boss for the episode. And hey, thanks to the amazing animation, this dude made to be such an amazing villain. No like seriously, I AM AT A LOSS FOR WORDS BECAUSE THE CAMERA MOVEMNTS DURING THAT FIRST HALF/... WHAT THE FUCK. Oh, and not JUST the camera movements, THE DRAWINGS, THE ANIMATION, THE EVERYTHING WAS JUST PERFECT.

AND THAT FINAL HALF... THAT FINAL HALF. I am just speechless. Nothing can put into words what I just watched. That OST that played as Yaiba destroyed the top of the building... Everything about this episode just screamed EOTY... and EOTY, yeah it was.

Agreed! The animation and direction this episode were stellar, so the questionable "resolution" is quite frustrating.

holy shit this episode is done by one single key animator huh when usually you got dozens of key animators and more 2nd key animators

YAIBA #6

Solo AD/Solo KA: Takeshi Maenami

and the solo key animator is the main key animator of yaiba too https://myanimelist.net/people/76185/Takeshi_Maenami
so how fast can he draw really? damn worthy of the rare title super animator

This sky fight gave me everything I wanted from it! I knew given the powers of Bat guy and the visual style of this show that they would go all out. Bat guy immediately making himself known to Yaiba, wanting his sword fore Onimaru of course. Flying straight up to them basically and demanding a challenge. A super arrogant enemy is always fun to pit against the upstart protagonist. The first fight we had tons of amazing looking shots and cuts. The extra dark outlines made every very distinct and easy to follow, even as it got super frenetic. Bat guy with his wings sets a huge disadvantage for Yaiba. Even once he's flying himself with his bird he can't use his full move set. Adding that third dimension to a fight really changes things. Yaiba got thrown around during this part, unable to really do anything. Miyamoto tried to intervene but naturally with a vampire bat enemy the old man got turned into one. Same with almost everyone else. Yaiba and Sayaka now forced into hiding as night falls. I like how the show didn't draw this part out. Other shonen would've made this a whole arc of them two by themselves dodging enemies for multiple episodes. Thankfully bat guy finds them quickly so the rest of the fight may resume. Yaiba still trying his best but now with his spinning technique blocked he's at another disadvantage. The morning sun cracking through saved the day, Yaiba held out long enough to expose bat guy true weakness. Turning everyone back normal afterwards too once he's lost his power. Seeing the extent of Onimaru influence has only exacerbated thr urgency of their mission to get go that island!

This adaptation really has a more serious tone and Mr Bat felt more threatening this time around.

I thought they defeated Mr Slug. It looks like it separated two encounters into different episodes: one through a montage and and another at the beginning of this episode.

Ok that makes more sense I was also confused because normally if the sun is a weekness for a vampire it's not limited to just the eyes so I didn't even consider it lol

This episode is exactly what I needed to watch the rest of this season, animation and artstyle was always great and the comedy isn't bad but the comedic relief focus with unthreatening villains while waiting for the inevitable Yaiba vs Onimaru fight at the end wasn't enough

Bat Man managed to feel like an actual threat but also still managed to be pretty funny so it didn't feel like they sacrificed comedic relief for him either

Studio Wit really poured the animation budget into this episode, huh? It looked great pretty much from start to finish.

Shout out to Kazuyuki Okitsu, he really killed it at Bat guy. I loved this character, he was really fun and offered a very entertaining match against Yaiba.

That was such a great episode, Mr. Bat is fun, the fight and the animation are stellar as ever, it was pretty crazy.
If you ask me where Yaiba remake gets definitely good, it's episode 6. Not that the previous episodes aren't good, it's just that they're stuck at being 7/10 for me. Solid, but not amazing. But Episode 6 was definitely amazing.

Agreed, that was my first thought as well. I'm trying not to get too hung up on it because this show is generally just nonsensical goofiness, but still, lack internal consistency is one of my triggers.

This episode was gorgeous! I absolutely loved the animation, it was beautiful to look at!

The bat was the first enemy other than Onimaru that felt genuinely powerful and like an actual threat. Also, few moments in this episode were pretty scary in tone, I thought. I can't wait to see if they keep this up.

Just when Yaiba was starting to get really confident about his ability with the Senpouken Bat Guy had to appear to spoil the party. It's ironic since out of all the Eight demons this one is my favorite. Not only does his personality shine throwing in some random English phrases here and there, but he does the bit of party dude and the serious one very well. Also, his menace coming from how he can make subordinates is quite terrifying. If it wasn't for the sunrise it'd have been game over so after all of that was over Yaiba realized how much training he still needs.

Good animation all throughout.

The snail guy shows up again just to get defeated—again.

I have to say, that Mr. Bat guy was really strong. He's stronger on his own than any of the other Eight Ogres combined, and by overpowering Yaiba, he made Yaiba realize he's not strong enough yet. This will definitely push him to work even harder.

I was really surprised to see Mr. Bat have vampire-like weaknesses while also having the ability to create servants by biting.

Sayaka showed her care for Yaiba when she congratulated him for winning, but he just brushed her off, saying he doesn't have time for girls—dude really has no tact. And it was funny seeing Musashi act like a perv after being turned into Mr. Bat's puppet.

Well...Mr. Snail finally made it once again with a better shell against the salt, though that's no chance against Yaiba's Senpuken. Well, that is not until the final boss arrives of the strongest Eight Ogre: Mr. Bat.

Immediately, he poses a challenge for Yaiba, so the lil' kid merging together with Shonosuke to create his flying element fighting Mr. Bat on uneven ground, not even he can thwart the fast reflexes of the strongest Ogre. This, however, becomes a problem of the mayhem of the entire surrounding succumbing to the vampire's fangs, forcing everyone under his belt.

That leaves both Yaiba and Sayaka vulnerable, though thankfully Kagetora remains sane to bring them both to safety in a castle. And the fight between the main protagonist and the villain, versus Saya and Kagetora against the rest trying to keep Yaiba alive against Mr. Bat's quick movement, it looked as if the lil' kid could not defeat the vampire...until the sun rises to (literally) call it a day.

Stlll, this is a wake-up call for Yaiba to get stronger, as Onimaru expands the support from ordinary folk.

For this ABSOLUTE CINEMA class of an episode to be helmed by just one person doing solo animation directing and key animation, we're eating great.

Another episode with sakuga fights! The villain this time is the vampire bat one that ends up hypnotizing Master Musashi! Luckily the animal companions and the girl do really well in helping Yaiba defeat that guy. The Vampire Bat guy's Voice Actor was super duper excellent. Extremely stylish and memorable.

I wish I could stick with it, but I just can't.

It's wonderfully animated and directed. It's insane how much effort and style WIT Studio put into the animation of Yaiba throwing salt at a snail last episode. I only got this far staring at the visuals.

But everything else is really boring and kind of annoying. The characters being the worst. I don't understand or care about what they're trying to do and what kind of people they are. Just unfunny and uninteresting. Even the art style and the designs aren't that appealing, and I like how Detective Conan characters look.

The story is... I don't know what the story is. "I have to find the sword to defeat the bad guy, who wants to... rule the world, I guess?" The world and the episode storylines feel like they're just winging it and filling time.

I really don't think "it's for kids" is a good enough defense, I can't imagine even kids will stick with this for long. Actually wondering how this material got such a lavishly-produced anime. Such a shame.

Well, I read the entire manga and seen the OG anime to the end, and I know exactly how this material got a lavishly-produced anime.

Man, your comment hurts me....because I cannot even say your criticism are wrong, I had a similar opinion when I was reading the manga and watching the first parts of the anime. I mean, if you don't like it because it feels too childish and aimless despite Wit Studio improving on these parts, then you would have REALLY not liked the original. Although I would say that one minor downside of this adaptation is Wit Studio prioritized the important plot elements to get through the first arc faster (we covered 6 volumes already), it meant sacrificing a lot of the amusing and cute character moments that made you like them even if the material was dry, and I hope that starting with the next arc, these moments are not eliminated, because there are still tons of them. But if it means getting to the next arc faster, I don't mind.

I don't know if anyone who hates Yaiba right now for being childish and simple will actually like the rest of the series, the way I ended up loving it, Yaiba really does become rather unique for what appears to be a generic Dragonball shounen. However, its not a series that will appeal to everyone, but its the type of series where if you end up liking it, you really end up liking it. I can already tell this anime will be the type of series that will end up getting most of its fan years later when they go Youtube and see clips of stuff that will happen much later lol.

HOLYYYYYYY SHITTTTTTT THE ANIMATION MAN omg this shit was fucking eye candy man the camera angles and the camera movement in the first half was just amazing bro like Mr.Bat provided us a fresh ass fight since he can fly and I’m all for it man we need more flying fights in anime fr😭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yaiba was right at the end bro needs to get stronger man he literally won this fight bc of luck like Mr. Bat squad wiped Yaiba’s crew except for him and Sayaka and like when bro bit Miyamoto I locked in bc I realized this villain ain’t a goofy happy go lucky “I’m gonna join ur crew” kind of guy and tbh I’m glad bc this tray showed me that Yaiba is hella weak rn and is nowhere near Onimaru’s level😓

Mr. Bat and his English words were such a joy to hear man that shit sounded funny yet made him such an interesting menacing character and I love how he wasn’t fucking around too much and got straight to business, best oni so far in terms of strength for me🔥

Him pushing Sayaka off was so jokes but at the same time I was like “ay man just take the hug” bc for once Sayaka wasn’t calling him a pervert or hitting him this time💀

Anyways this was a FUCKING AMAZING PHENOMENAL ASS episode man 10/10 fr Wit Studio animators are so talented man😩🔥😩🔥😩🔥

When I saw the epilepsy warning, I got excited—not out of malice, of course. I sincerely wish good health to epilepsy patients. But it did mean we'd get some top-tier animation—and Studio WIT delivered. This was a visual feast.

WIT Studio, you gave us a masterpiece. 10/10—respect! I’ve always been weak in the visual/art side of anime, but WIT made me appreciate it deeply. I can only describe it as perfect execution.

I also laughed hard when Yaiba shouted at 20:50, “I have no time for women!!” 😂 Also, Yaiba riding a tiger reminded me of Conan riding a dog in episode 3 or 4.

We finally got a villain from Onimaru’s side that isn’t cartoony or silly—great fight scene!

Also loved how WIT Studio incorporated modern tech, which Conan rarely does. Ran still uses her old phone, and Conan got a Sony one. Anyway, let’s keep watching.

Loved these two frames so much, I’m considering using the second one as my wallpaper. It’s truly powerful.

Bat Guy was fun. Okitsu did great voicing him.

It was a great looking episode too but I think I'm getting a bit tired of the silly monster of the week enemies at this point. I'm curious about the direction we'll be going once we reach Sasaki.
