got a Mazda3 used a few weeks back, after living in my new place without a car got too annoying (it's just far enough from a grocery store to make walking with grocery bags way too much of a hassle), and honestly, i'm loving the thing. kinda wish i got the stick shift version, but i mostly drive in pretty heavy traffic, which would have made that annoying. anyone here got cars? you got those otaku stickers all over them? "fill me up" decals on the gas tank, etc. |

yes, since i received my driving licence in january 2006 i had to wait until late 2012 to buy a second-hand one all mine and with my own funds (a grey old model of Ford Ka) when i was into my second job (McDonald's) since the previous summer. Previously, i just borrowed a Chevrolet Kalos from my mother and older brother or a old model of Fiat Panda from my maternal grandfather since he wasn't able to drive any more. In late april of 2016, i bought the newer model of Ford Ka and let my other brother use my previous one until he could afford a new one himself with his then new job. Never changed it again since, but at this point it's almost as it's not my car anymore since my mother needs it for her job and taking care of her parents and i can go to work by just walking... for now. So... i almost only use it again for going to anime conventions. i would have attached anime stickers honestly, but i already had arguments with my parents because of Haruhi Suzumiya pillows and blanket in the back seats that i never wanted to remove and they're staying even now... thus i didn't feel i wanted to double down. i'm not a expert or anything... i was more into cars and anything as a kid in the mid 90's, but nothing that stuck for too long. Even if, to be honest, if i saw a Opel Tigra old model and it's cheap and in decent state, i would consider buying it. |

@traed Waterproof rain gear exist. :) Also, during winter, I use a fatbike that has oversized tyres. It's perfect when there's a lot of snow.

@Serafos Well yeah I know but I figured the ground can be pretty slick but i suppose that's more an issue for motorcycle riders than cyclists. Ah even just that is enough huh, I see. I guess snow doesn't get too deep on paths then. Seems nice. |

Yeah, I own a car. It's convenient to have one if someone has to travel frequently (not only trips, but mostly working place or supermarkets), needs to transport large items at times, or lives in an area with limited public transportation (or simply that doesn't make it to the places frequently visited by someone). In big cities with poorly done traffic infrastructure, bikes can be a better choice than cars if someone just wants to move from one place to another relatively fast, though. Maintenance of a bike is usually remarkably lower, too. |

Yeah a Corolla 1.6 Benzin 2018 manual, not bad for 0-120 but kinda meh after 160,pretty good for city driving and fast overtakes but not the most comfortable drive.ALSO FUCK THE ELECTRONICS WHY ARE THERE SO MANY ELECTRONICS.Had an Avensis 2007 1.8 as my first car and was much better outside of fuel efficiency, that car was a beast, never expected it to be good at off-roading & drift (well as much as an FWD will allow anyway). And no I prefer it clean can't stand stickers n such. |

No. But in case any girls ask, tell them I'm busy working on it (it broke down after we went on a hunting trip to the Carpathians in early December, of course.) traed said: What do you with heavy rain or if it snowed a lot and you need to get somewhere? I don't know for him, but I just take a taxi. Or, alternatively, just get a giant 16-bone umbrella that wouldn't break no matter what, and if the wind is strong enough and in the right direction, you just fly to your destination like Mary Poppins, unscathed from the elements. Or... well, to your most convenient bus stop/train station. I'd probably get a car if I had to live in a more remote area, though. |

I have a Mazda CX-30 from 2021. It's extremely expensive to own a car no matter what year it is from. But if you're like me, living in the middle of nowhere, you need one for sure. Ain't no way in hell I'd take the bus. Or own a bike. You'd have to pay me to buy and own a bike each single month instead of owning a car. |

I gave my old car to my friend many years ago and she paid me with a nice dinner at a Maghrebi restaurant. It was a used car just appropriate to get me from point A to point B. Never really like driving cars in the first place. But I did ride on my vespa scooter until a couple of months ago. This time, I gave that vespa to my sister's distant acquaintance and I only met her once with a neutral impression. |

@traed taxi or public transportation. After 3 years at riding in winter you get used to the temperature so unless it's a big storm I can ride in almost anything. The only thing I really do different in winter it's adding more protein to my diet to help repair the muscle in the legs since riding in the snow can be really exhausting for the muscle. |

@traed a bicycle ride very easy on ice it's a matter of the user not the ice. As for depth of snow depend where you live I live in urban areas so the city act way before that. They usually start their operations I am still working so when I am out it's clear. |

Yeah, a 2002 Corolla. They’re pretty reliable, and I am open to car suggestions for any newer cars that won’t break down. The worst thing about owning a car is that I have not brought it with me to Boston because holy shit, is the insurance unbelievably expensive. Public transportation is good enough that I don’t bother driving here, but I do when I go back to Virginia, which is why I still pay insurance. LOL this thread caused me to call my insurance company and apparently I have been paying for two policies. Agent is investigating but this thread may have saved me a couple thousand a year! 😭 |

- I didn't know manual transmission is still dominant in Europe.
- But also electric vehicles are selling well in Europe.
- So, they skip automatic transmission and leap to electric control? What a radical shift.
- By the way, I can't understand why expensive but ugly Tesla cars are popular somewhere.
- I almost forgot to tell you. You can see Itasha (not Italian cars) info here. >@fbjim
@kuroneko99 you can still get stick in the US but oddly enough they're usually more expensive because they're associated with performance packages. |

I had one. Then decided that it was a huge money sink and that I hated driving so much that I preferred spending 2 hours commuting by public transport including 15 minutes waits on the cold or rain than driving for 30 minutes on a good road with good traffic. So I sold it. Fortunately, I don't have the 2 hours commute anymore and I arrange the rest of my life around the fact that I don't have and won't have a car. |

Yes, I do. I am on my third car. My first car lasted 7.5 years, my second car lasted 1 year, and I've had my current car for 1.5 years. My current car is way better than my first two were, but I am an Uber driver now. I've already put 35k miles on it in just 1.5 years! I hope I can get at least 5 years out of this car, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's less. I got my first bumper sticker ever last year. This is it: POV: Your Uber driver has this bumper sticker... |
