art style you couldn’t stand.

Nothing more needs to be said, but speaking of disgusting things...

For example Ping Pong The Animation, The Tatami Galaxy or Tekkon Kinkreet are examples of truly horrible Art Style for me, in fact it is one of the many reasons why I haven't watched these anime

My most hated chara designer is Hisashi Hirai (Gundam Seed etc.).

@Saku33 this. I just don't like how the people look in Taiyo Matsumoto's works. His characters look 1) more Chinese than Japanese 2) way too swarthy/Southeast Asian. Like, that straight up is not how a real Japanese person looks like, and it's only worse because the author actually wanted realism and fumbled it.

@epidemia78 First time I've actually heard somebody not like Leiji's artstyle. Oh well, each to his own.

@perseii Code Geass? Really? With all the females being as attractive as they are in that show I positively don't understand what you dislike about it's art style.

I actually didn't care for Ping Pong the Animation's art style.

The only one that I truly couldn't stand was Ping Pong the Animation, and I'll leave it at that because talking more about this series has a risk of me going on a very rude rant lol
Except for Devilman: Crybaby, pretty much all of Masaaki Yuasa's works I've seen so far looked pretty ugly to me from aesthetic perspective, but not to a point where I'd hate the anime for that, which is one of the main reasons for me hating Ping Pong.

Aachi wa Ssipak movie looked disgusting, and I hated it, but at least it fit the overall vibe and purpose of the movie.

I got used to One Piece's style fairly quickly, but it was just one of many reasons for me not liking it, so it didn't really help. I still don't find it pleasant, but if I watched the series, then I'd definitely be able to tolerate or sometimes even enjoy it, depending on the character etc.

A lot of Madoka Magica's characters looked very ugly to me, namely Madoka herself, so I'm often confused when I see people praising its art style.


True, but I liked that Ooba guy and how crazy everything went in the 2nd half :p if it was as unhinged all the way through, then maybe I'd have liked it more lol

Also Devilman Crybaby is a weird one, it's like either ugly or beautiful depending on which scene you look at, and it can change in rapid succession...

@JaniSIr I guess you didn't miss much lol I thought the last few episodes were quite funny because of how incredibly weird and absurd they were even compared to the rest of the series, but I guess it can have an opposite effect and make people dislike it even more :p

Yeah, it definitely is :) I remember being a bit weirded out when I started watching it, but I quickly fell in love with it, so I guess some of the potentially ugly parts became unimportant to me.

@-YaoiBoy- Probably would have pissed me off more yes, I was really just interested in the NTR plotline...

I decided to watch Devilman Crybaby, after seeing an out of context clip of the donkey scene.

@JaniSIr I vaguely remember that :p but already forgot the details.

Lol that's one way to get interested in it :p I think my friend just recommended it to me back in 2019 and I watched it completely blind. One of his many spot on recommendations.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the style they had in Witch From Mercury, but there isn't an art style that I just outright dislike.

High School DxD Hero. I don't care that TNK messed with the plot. I do care that Passione made the characters look like shit.
