| @TRC_Randy: The anime aired in 2006 and explores a photo-journalist recording video footage of a UN military mission to retrieve a peace flag from terrorists attempting to reignite a civil war. It mainly hooked me with the journalist angle as I seen the series back in the early 2010s and had minored in Communications in college. It dabbles heavily into the political and military tensions surrounding the current UN mission, with events shown mainly through the perspective of the journalist's video camera as she is recording events. Being in a near-future setting, factions in the conflict also utilize mecha. But the series goes hard on the "real robot" side of the mecha genre to be practical within the current technology available within its setting for combative purposes. The complex storytelling, political intrigue, and unique storytelling focus through the journalist's perspective engaged me enough to hand it a 10, though I understand this unique focus may not be everyone's cup of tea with how different it is. |
