| Observing a sunrise feels like it's a special event in this show, almost like watching a miracle happen. They really captured the magic in those scenes imo. Overall, a really enjoyable episode seeing the cast join together. Backgrounds look realistic this episode too and breathtaking to the eyes. Hope those fortunes they wish for come true. |

| The new year is here, starting with a sleepover and a morning climb to see the first sunrise, classic ... but this time, with DAD, i can't remember now, but is this the first time we've see Aoi's father ? Tho it seems a lot of people went for a new year's climb, to see the sunrise. Still they managed just fine. And good for Kaede, being on TV, lol. |

| Two small episodes, one arrived the new year and the girls want to look the first sun of the year, and the second is a walking day with friends!!! kekeke |

| The new year has finally arrived - at least for the characters in Yama no Susume. The first half was really enjoyable, especially Kaede being on TV totally caught me off-guard. Glad to see another cute sleepover, Hinata dragging Aoi into the same bed and then keeping her from sleeping is so much on-character for her. Same goes for Kokona, who instantly falls asleep, just like last time on Mount Tanigawa. With the following hike we've now seen Aoi walk with both her parents and both times it was clear how much stronger and how much more stamina she has than her parents. The views of the sunrise and even Mount Fuji give new hope for eventually making it to the top of said mountain. The second part builds on the friendship with Kasumi and her friends. The plan to go to the shrine on Mount Takao of course gets Aoi fired up, only for her to totally forget she was going with classmates who aren't as much into hiking. The result: An unexpected boss battle in the form of the ropeway. Thankfully they decide to walk instead, so Aoi gets to show off her knowledge and she doesn't have to fight her fear of heights. Really cool to see how much Aoi knows at this point, so much even that she can easily take Kasumi's bag on top of her own backpack. We also learn a bit about their past in middle school, which honestly is quite the opposite of what Aoi is now. This episode adapted one chapter from the end of volume 9 and the first chapter of volume 10. That means it's from long before the first part of last episode as well as the hike with Aois' mother. But checking that just made me realize, the part of Hikari drinking and sleeping on Aoi's lap from last episode is actually the next chapter in volume 10 and is set on Mount Tenran. The more you know. |
| Finally caught up with Yama No Susume with this episode. So far this is an extremely underwached and underrated gem of a show imo. 9/10 overall And hey we finally meet Aoi's dad! I can't really remember where he was all this time though? Does somebody know? |

| Enjoying the sunrise of a new years day is always a interesting tradition to see especially if the characters specially climb a mountain for it. It's certainly different from getting drunk with friends which i do every years. It was also nice to see Aoi's other friends climbing to mountain together, the are showing interest in her hobbies it's shows they care about her and they had a nice time. |
| Going to see the first sunrise of the new year was very nice with beautiful scenery! The climb up to the shrine was good too and nice to see the other girls show interest in it too. |

He just didn't appear in the anime, because a few chapters in the manga he was in weren't adapted. But it's not like with Hinata's dad who is half across the globe. Last time Aoi's dad appeared was probably when he encouraged Aoi to convince her mother to lend her the jacket. Though I think he was also somewhere in the background of the cast in the second S2 OVA. |
| The animation is actually splendid in this show. Three amazing CGDCT shows airing this season. I thought the genre became stale and redundant, but look at this. Fans are eating good. |

| Holy vibrant expressions and fluidity. That scene where they were resting while climbing Mt. Takao and there were those kids in the foreground really caught my eye, like holy shit that whole scene until the end of Kasumi's past impressions of Aoi through her glasses was expressive, really goated direction, production, everything. Another great episode, we were truly blessed with a trinity of SOLs this season and all of them has some fucking bonkers quality. |

| there were some amazing shots in this ep. Standouts for me: The sunrise with pine tree, when Aoi is giving the peep talk "one step at a time" to Kasumi and they emerge from the shadows and when they were all resting with the kids in the foreground. And those "selfies". Whoever storyboarded this did a fantastic job. Btw: Those houses. Seen for some eps now, Aoi and Hinata live in some absolutely splendid architecture. Looks large and expensive; that large wooden bath, hot damn! |

| An episode about reflection, growth, and looking forward to the future. Very appropriate for a New Year's episode. The Iyashikei theme really comes out in this episode. The English subtitles for the opening and ending credits really added to my enjoyment of the show. It was an inspirational and comforting episode. I look forward to the rest of the season. |

| What a beautiful way of starting a new year π₯°! It was really nice seeing Aoi's dad joining the mountain climb this time π! The trip with classmates impressed me as well! It happened to me too in high school to become aware of a classmate that I barely talked to but who thought about me a lot. She was the only one that called to check on me after I had a car accident and missed school for a whole month. She didn't even have my number. She must have asked for it from someone else. |

| New Year sunrise Too bad there's also tons of people already on the mountain, LOL ___ ___ ___ Good thing there was clouds, else they would have missed it cause Hinata overslept, LOL (Hinata be doing that Yuri attack in middle of the night) Also, apparently some girls were in the middle of mountain climbing when the sunrise happened... huh... they must get up super early to climb the mountains half way. (unlike me, I overslept today and woke up at 2pm... haha... ha....) ___ ___ ___ And then later Aoi and some other girls went to visit the Temple, with everyone but Aoi dressed up to go with the Cart, but apparently there's a long line. And they end up doing a hike anyways. BTW... while they're resting and eating at the top... they had a random father and 2 kids scene in the front of the girls.... felt like that scene of father and 2 kid belong in Crayon-shin-chan... LOL And then they talked about what Aoi was like in early school year where she was pretty much a "loner" that stayed away from others cause she was shy. (like me, and still is...) |

| Such a nice, wholesome, heartwarming episode. It good to see Aoi hanging out with her classmates and going on a hike and join them in their future hiking adventures, and then the girls going to a mountain to watch the first sunrise of the year. Watching it feel so good. Its just really fun to see the girls having a fun moment of their lives while their young. Makes me wish I should've watch the early first sunrise back then but it was really cloudy and gloomy that day. Would have prefer watching this episode on new year. Its been 13 days since New Year celebration but I already missed it. |
