German, they always sound like they are giving orders, it's a very angry language. French always sounds pissed off/uninterested and the Chinese always sound like they are arguing.

Japanese and Italian sound nice.

Vietnamese, and it's not even close. It sounds like angry cats fighting - all I hear is nya-nya-nya-nya, and it's always at least 10 decibels louder than anything else around you.

Also, that Spanish accent that replaces half of the consonant sounds with a "th."
+ Korean since they always sound like they are complaining about something due to that stress on the vowel. Not ear-piercing but incredibly annoying still.

This is a tricky question, as what may be considered "ear-piercing" is subjective and can vary from person to person. However, some languages may have a more aggressive or abrasive tone, such as German or Russian..

Vietnamese and Navajo. The former is due to all those contour tones. Navajo has lots of ejectives, which gives it an ear grating sound, imo. I think Navajo would sound nice if not for that.

Chinese is hit or miss, imo. Most dialects like Mandarin are grating, but I think some Wu dialects, particularly Wenzhounese sound melodic.

Some Swedish, especially when conceited women (and gay men) speak it. They have this super disgusting way of saying "y/i", and it's so hard to explain why I hate it. It's like they clench their throat with some mucus in it while still continuing to speak. That is the number one annoying sound for me.

Closely after that comes the southern redneck American accent (almost always sounds dumb) and Danish

I guess Vietnamese is also annoying sometimes, but more because of the volume and high tones than the language itself.

AND like Numbers said, that Spanish accent where they say "th" in every other word. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

For me is either Turkish, German and some Slavic languages that sound like there is a cat fight nearby, even if there is casual conversation held in those languages. /*+*\
Yet, some native speakers who speak those languages don't sound that much bothering to my ears.
Only languages that have nice ring for hearing in my opinion are Japanese and French. ^*^

The question cannot be answered without bias, because it also depends on the speaker and what someone is used to
That being said, I'm not a fan of too vowel rich languages and the way certain "gangsta" people from the hood sound when they talk to each other

Verticulum said:

They have nothing to do with "schmettern" ("(to) clash"), but with an East Central German dialect word meaning "one who creams" + "-ling" end syllable meaning "little". It's just another milk product instead of butter. Well, at least we don't call it a "fly". And "dragonfly" sounds rather cold and boring compared to "Libelle". I also prefer "Glühwürmchen" over "firefly"

Too many deaf people on MAL who should listen to Mozart, Beethoven and Wagner more often (I must agree however that some German dialects are truly awful). Also, can't people stop with all those clichés on Chinese and German?

I will go for French, I cannot stand the way most people speak it these days (and they speak too loudly). It is so vulgar... The second worst is American for similar reasons.

Ear-Piercing in a way of sounding awful/difficult/whatever?

I'd go with actually Polish, just spend a day in a rural areas among drunks or people who never graduated highschool and you'd know what I mean, after that I'd say Russian, Ukrainian, German [I hate that language, tried to learn for 3 years I barely remember anything], Classical Latin, Greek and Arabic.

Examples of why Polish:

None really? I don't really find any particular language nor dialect harsh. Funny perhaps would be better word.

Danish would be maybe my choice, but that's more so because it sounds strange mix of languages. I can pick some words and then all the rest is just weird gibberish. Same with Scanian, I just can't with it.

I agree, any dialects and accents in the southern German language area sound better than German Standard German, which is rather dull because of it being a bridge language between the northern, central and southern dialects. When people speak in their dialects and/or in their regional color, they sound less robotic and more natural

Well, they learn the type of artificial German standard German that is understood the best in the whole DACHS(LI)/German-speaking region in Europe. In honor of the wisdom of the Anglo-Indian Canadian comedian, Russell Peters, 2006 comedy show called Outsourced, South Korean-based Korean sounds like this.

You can tell when Koreans are speaking English, ’cause when Korean people speak English, they sound like they’re out of breath. Like they just ran a marathon. [BREATHING HEAVILY] “You don’t…” “…make any jokes…” “…about…” “…the Koreans.” [IMITATES ASTHMA INHALER]
This is at the price of South Koreans lacking the most basic sense of humor among Asians. So, they tend to talk extremely aggressive. I know this becaus I'm a decent Korean speaker.

I try my best to talk like a North Korean, just like this.

Two white people (from an American father and a European mother) born and raised in North Korea speaking Korean like an educated North Korean bureaucrat. One at that time served for the North Korean military as an officer.

Brought to you by a pro-North Korean citizen group in the USA.

It has its quirks. The spelling only makes sense if you know etymology and the amount of vowels and how each different dialect treats them is insane.

Classical Attic Greek has 21 ways to say "the" (36 if we count syncretic forms as different forms like that meme does for German). Things like that sometimes make me glad that some languages are dead.

In Koine the dual is mostly gone except for some authors who try to imitate the classical Attic style. Other than that the articles are exactly the same.

Interesting. I know for sure that most Slavic languages have asymmetric approaches for expressing grammatical number due to being a residual relic of the original proto-Slavic dual number system.

Well, most people of European origin don't even know how languages with tones would sound like because they don't have that features in their native languages. I remember in history class when European colonial authorities said that African languages south of the Sahara are like the languages of the birds and no civilization can record their languages.
