wasn't that big of a fan of this by the start of the dragon arc but i came for gay-ness because everyone was like this is the actual yuri! and it turns out it was true granted i was expecting a way longer burn to get to it and not the end of the first season and then some lol i never really bought into how quickly they grew together to the degree of what Euphie would "give up in the name of love" but eh this was only the start right

flat 7/10 it was decently good junk for one of these shows little too much on the shounen action side didn't think that's what i was signing up for when i hear yuri princesses

and i guess diomedea actually did a good job since i had no faith in em lol

Hearing her say Anis instead of Anis-sama pissed me off. I need my isekai protags to be above everyone else, so this show went from a 7 to a 1 in a single episode

Some questions:

1. What was the dragon's curse? Some speculate longevity/eternal life, but it is not specified. If it was implied or said in the LN, this could clear up Euphie's decision as why she pursued being blessed by a spirit so much.

5. When is season 2?

1. from what I heard some LN reader say..

5. from what I heard, 3 volumes got adapted into the anime. There are 3 more volumes left, but those will take a long time. So we won't be having a season 2 anytime soon.

well, I hope they make one special episode where they show Anis and Euphie living together or travelling together. :)

That’s actual a sad ending if you think about,

Euphie no longer ages so she will look the same and will meet the fate like lumie where she will most likely forgot stuff and has to write her memories down and will eventually turn into a spirit, and will watch her loved ones die etc.

Anis has the dragon curse which will most likely still make her age and her lifespan is unknown but will probably have horrible effects from the curse unless somthing els happens in the LN at a later point that will prevent both the fates.

Initially drawn to this anime for yuri stuffs and assumed that it would be a generic isekai anime, did not have any expectations whatsoever, turns out it's more than that. Honestly, I think the name and tags are a bit misleading as all the yuri scenes and isekai elements only appear in the last episode. One thing that a lot of people are mentioning is the Dragon's curse which Anis has will give her a long life span similar to a a dragon, I hope it's true. Looking forward for a special episode or season 2. What a solid anime that comes out of nowhere.

Started out amazingly but Things got uninteresting fast during each week. I have issues with the writing but I think the biggest disappointment was that the romance was so weak. I didn’t care for it at all. The girls barely had genuine moments together, anis liked euphie instantly and while euphie had nice build up to her falling in love it was so fast. All their moments together were about problem solving for the story. Not them just hanging out and liking each other’s company.

Yeah I can already see everyone losing their minds over this episode. While I will admit it is, a good episode, the fact remains that I feel one episode doesnt fix the issues I have with the anime as a whole.

It seems they really pulled out ALL the stops this episode, like they dropped basically every bombshell they could, which does make me wonder what on earth they would do in a second season.

So uhm. They begin with anis with euphy, which I guess I should have seen coming. Euphy wins, because the implication is that enough though anis was tone doing most of the fighting in ep 5 and ep 9, euphy is supposed to be the more talented one.

The rest of the episode uhm. Anis is supposed to be the older one but euphy definitely seems more uh, composed.

I have to say, I wasnt expecting them to actually build the flying machine thingy, I thought it was just a joke or an idea, but they actually did it.
And not just that, they even made flying CLOTHES? Sheesh, its like they wanted to show off.

For whatever reason they didnt actually have a scene where they announce that, you know, euphy is (going to be) the uh, queen now. The king stepping down is kind of interesting too, though not much actually said.

I still maintain that one of the issues I have is that almost the entire anime takes place outside the civilian population, so we barely even get to see.

(Also are they not going to address the part where, euphy is like either immortal or going to live SUPER long now, and how are they going to explain that to everyone? Like I know it wont actually matter but still)

The last episode or two before this were kind of meh, but I was hoping that this final one would save it for me. Long story short, it did not. The oh so important fight to determine Euphie's fate ended seemed to be glossed over, and I feel like her reasoning for fighting Anis make it seem like she doesn't fully understand the spirit contract (even if she says she does). A lot of it, at least to me, is stuff that may be relevant in the current time period, but will quickly become irrelevant once Anis dies and Euphie starts losing her memories. I also had a problem with them not even considering exploring other options outside of Anis or Euphie, or hell even just starting a revolt since the nobles are the root of the problem. I still hate Al, but I'm kind of wishing he used better methods to overthrow the country.

There's also problems such as Anis suddenly appearing weaker than she is, and the dragon power. Granted, she was in a mentally unstable state, but even then I don't think that'd be enough to weaken her that much.

It's a really disappointing ending to a show that I had considered one of my favorites of the season, but I'll give it a 6/10 for the 3/4 of the show that was actually decent, and an extra point, so 7/10, for the yuri.

The entire last arc felt so rushed I had to check if it was an anime only ending. Seeing that it is the "actual" volume 3 but just a super rushed version of it... maybe if they had had another 1 or 1.5 eps worth of time it could've been done a lot better and felt less terrible. I appreciate that the show committed and had the girls bang or whatever but yeah the actual writing and pace of this final ep aside from that woof

That was a sweet ending. The biggest surprise is that Anis was actually at the bottom despite being the tomboy princess lmao. "Its always the silent one thats usually the scariest", that quote perfectly sums up Euphie's love.

Now looks like Anis will also live long because of the dragon curse or something. Thats great because Euphie will have a 100 or 200+ years worth of yurification.

I was about to give this anime a 6 because if the forced drama on episode 10 onward but because of Anis and Euphi bed scene, I give this anime a 7/10. Euphi dictating the pace despite being the timid one was very hot. So happy they had segs that night. Now if only Chisato and Takina did something like this in Lycoris, that would had been amazing.

Yuri anime like this is good for the economy. Thank you for the eye candy in ep12.

Wow, when you think of a good ending to an anime, this would definitively be it. Epic fight, the first time the isekai and reincarnation is aknowledged, the magical revolution being put into place, Euphie becoming the queen and Anis her older sister (oh no) and the yuri bait being no more, as now they are fully kissing. It was full of emotions and it made be enjoy a lot of everything that happened previously in the 11 other episodes. It's so sad that they rushed so much the second half that it made it somewhat weird and not as polished as the first episode were, it would have definitely been a contender for a masterpiece type of anime. But overall, I am not too sad about the final product, it was still hella enjoyable with Anis being a fucking best girl.

I'm suprised they actually went through with the Spirit Contract, but I guess Anis trying to find a way to cure the negative effects just opens up more story potential in the future.

Overall, the show fell off a little bit, as it developed a proud pace and missed out on giving comedy and stuff more room. It wasn't nearly as bad as some other LN adaptions though, like last season's Villainess Isekai or Toaru Index.

That said, it's animation, ost and characters are just wonderful. I can't say if it's my AotS just yet, since High Card became it's only competitor and has yet to finish, but no matter what, MagiRevo was just a great show I want to see more of!

I hope Season 2 will be announced soon. And I'd love an OVA flashing out the Slice of Life / Comedy this world has to offer too!

What a truly awful final quarter. I honestly assumed it was an anime original ending, which it kind of still is as the light novels are ongoing, but it's mainly adapting the third and fouth volumes in three episodes, after taking nine episodes to do the first two.

What was the point of Euphie taking the throne, when they worked together and just overthrew the magical establishment anyways? They could have done that with Anis as queen, without dooming the poor girl to eternity as a amnesic spirit. They even commit to the lesbian relationship, which is great, but kind of ignores the need for royal heirs, which was the main issue Anis was going to have with taking the throne.

How on earth did a girl who started the series as a gold ranked adventurer, before then getting dragon powers, lose to a girl who seemed to have never fought anything until halfway through the show, and whose main martial contribution was a big gust of air to get them behind the dragon? Reminded me of a meme about the final fight in Life is Strange: an Army veteran and a girl who can see the future are no match for an art history teacher.

Also, pretty much zero girl genius-ing or magical revolutions in the entire show, until the final montage. The two primary conflicts of the show were about the right of succession. I really kind of expected a show focussed on magitek and lesbians.

Well said. I thought this series started out pretty strong but the ending felt rushed and it was based on light novel readers' comments. I also wondered about the issue of succession and of Euphie slowly losing her memories and turning into a spirit, alone (that is so sad). Those were main issues that Anis brought up and were not addressed after the duel.

On a more positive note, the kissing was nice, the animation was good, the character designs were great, and most of the series was an entertaining watch. Again, it's a shame that apparently a lot of details were omitted from its source material so I give this a 7/10.

I feel my 7/10 rating is depended on this story continuing.  The end felt very abrupt and despite the showy duels that occurred I am left with the feeling looking back that not much happened in this show.  If there is a season 2 and things are expanded more I would have higher opinion though I don't know where it can go.  The conclusion said everything will work out, the commoners love magic being extended and since Euphy is a spirit summoner like the founding king the nobles can't protest either so I'm not sure where any future conflict will come from.  Ending kiss is all well and good but can shortcomings of show as a whole be ignored?  Nope.

Such boring dialogue and characters in this show. It’s like it was made overnight using chatgpt. The characters literally kept repeating the same shit the whole show but in different ways.

Not to mention the characters seemed like shitty copy and paste from other anime’s. Emilia from Re:Zero meets Catarina from otome game.

I have nothing against girl x girl romance, but it seems like thats the driving force behind it being rated a lot higher than it is.

1. In LN, Lumi said Anis can't because she's a 'traveler' (she was isekai-ed), an individuals whose souls  don’t harbor spirits. The reason why people have different magical affinities is because they have different spirits within their souls. (This is the reason why Anis can't use magic)
2. She wants everyone to be able to fly like her easily. Her broom does allow the flight but it is impractical for most people.
3. It is necessary in order to prevent the revolution. She can use force to make them obey but how would that differ from AI method?
4. Euphie is now a royalty and she CAN use magic. That is the big different. The new system is just getting start, Noble idea about Magic won't change easily. Euphie become the queen will at least make the transition smoother. (Euphie was also supposed to become a queen in the past, make it even easier for nobles to accept her)
5. It's not strange for a noble girl to become a personal maid for Princess/Queen. It's considered a honor. They usually don't let a commoner do it.
6. The new system is just getting start. Everything won't just change over night after the demonstration.

Point 1 makes the whole thing easier to understand; not sure why the don't mention it in the anime or I could easily just miss on it.

But the rest is kinda meh. Don't get me wrong, it's not your explanation that is meh, but the explanation offered itself. Regarding point 3, force is not everything. If she tries hard enough (as with everything in this show), a lot of people will follow after her examples. Those nobles are old anyway, and presumably won't even be there for Anis' coronation should she be the queen. And it's not like Euphy has a good reputation among the nobles either. Sure, having Euphy who can use magic as the next queen might path the starting road easier, but I find it hard to imagine she will have it any easier than Anis would once she tears down the old tradition. Point 5, maybe, but Lainie is a Baron's daughter, albeit adopted or taken in. I just imagine Lainie is above Ilia in terms of status, but Ilia calls her by her name.

I guess for point 6 is the anime's fault. The way they show it with the crowd cheering and nobles face palming, it looks as if the revolution won't take a long time to achieve.
It's politic.
Even they are old people, their successor also has same mind. Just look the son of Magic Ministry(He hold Annis and Euphi when Al attack Lainie).
If Anis just force using power it will make civil war.

It sure will became easier if Euphie became Queen, you can already see it at Airdra Episode. When Euphie talked about it, most of noble who disaggred Annis' Airdra became agreed it.
Euphie has a good reputation and her politic skill is high(She already kill her emotion to be Future Queen for Al).
Most opposed noble think Magic and Spirit is number One, Euphie has perfect apptidute magic and now she already become Spirit just like First Emperor. It make the opposite side be calmer and milder.

EDIT: Ilia also a noble lady, just watch carefully. It already mentioned she got arranged by her parents to married againts Ugly Fat Noble. Annis help her and take her as personal maid.

All in all, this was a very good adaptation. It was a bit rushed since three entire LN volumes were condensed into 12 episodes, and the characters and their arcs suffered a bit for all the cut material, but I honestly don't think it is possible to have created a better adaption given the amount of run time they were working with. It is mindblowing that they were able to pare the source material down enough to make it fit and still manage to weave a coherent story with all of its major beats landing. The prince's arc was a bit wobbly, but this was a great single-season yuri anime. You just don't see yuri stories getting quality adaptions often.

This episode was great to watch for the relation ship between Anis and Euphy, mainly because of the kiss. However I was ultimately left disappointed from the ending of this season.
Almost all of the conflict seemed forced with what felt like a weird twist to give a bitter sweet ending for the two MC's by making Euphy immortal. It just feels as though the issues put in place to lead to this ending were quite a stretch considering they're just ignored after the fact. Plus the strange addition of making the King and Queen adopt Euphy thus making her Anis's sister as well as her lover was needless. It makes me question how their relationship will be handled in the future.
I really enjoyed the series as a whole but this ending highlighted all the flaws throughout it. The relation ships between Euphy, Anis, and her friends were the highlight for me. Sadly the conflicts that arouse and the resolutions were always halfhearted, this episode was no exception. I was left feeling like the pay off wasn't really worth it. If a second season ever airs I hope it can make up for this seasons ending. Although there was a Yuri Kiss so.. 10/10

Anime not started right away because it wasn't among those I wanted to start right away since it didn't have any preponderant prerogative compared to my choices made before the start of the winter season. However after starting it, I didn't really like the ambiguity it had in terms of plot, but I really appreciated the quality of the drawings and the animations and I also liked the drawing style very much, perhaps my regret is that with these qualities , there hasn't been a direction that has exploited the potential that has gradually emerged during the season of the plot. In fact, I think the anime ended too hastily, without saying everything it could say at the plot level. Not to mention the fact that the secondary characters have remained mere figures in the background.

It was okay but I do feel like they took some easy ways out of the issues, which kinda annoy me and make everything feel less important. Also all the crying kinda lost its impact on the last 3 episodes as it was happening SO much. Also not the biggest fan on how they are technically now siblings, like was that necessary? I know it could be like when same sex marriage isn't legal, you might adobt your partner into your family register, but that's not what they did here nor was that the intention. It was also not adressed at all by anyone, even though it's obvious that Anis and Euphie are now dating, but no one stopped to think what adopting her into the family means. But I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm just nitpicking here.

Lumi appearing right at the end without ever being build up in this world feels like such an easy way to make their happy ever after and they get over the negative aspects of it really fast. Kinda wish Anis had stayed mad at for what Euphie trying to do. I'm glad they got their happy ending, but at the same time it doesn't feel deserved. For a show that build up quite a lot of drama and anguish in the world they sure had a sudden and they all lived happily ever after -ending that felt out of place for me.

I enjoyed watching the show overall, but it did fall kind of flat for me in the end. But for what it's trying to do, I guess, it did it decently. This show was so beautiful that it is a shame that the story didn't live up to it.
